  1. I do believe that new crop only happens for the new "viewing modes" that were added with that update. I.e. if you want to save F-LOG internally and see film simulation over HDMI or vice-versa (a new viewing mode) -- then you get the crop, but not in any of the original viewing modes, like where you see F-LOG internally AND externally, or film simulation internally AND externally. I don't think any crop was introduced there. That meant that the original v1.2 functionality is intact, with some additional options added on in v2.0. I don't think it broke anything -- or am I wrong?
  2. Video auto-ISO... min & max? After a run & gun shoot, I got back to the computer and noticed I had some pretty noisy video in one sequence where it got pretty dark. Reflecting on the conditions, it’s not strange. It must have used a very high ISO. So, it doesn’t look like auto-ISO in video respects the max-sensitivity that you set in the photo section. Does anyone know if it’s possible to set the max ISO for video or even just to see a continuous readout of the ISO in use, and not just “AUTO”?
  3. 2.0 firmware is released. Anyone running it yet?
  4. I have the Sigma 10-20mm for EF-S, which doesn't cover the sensor on my 5D3 when zoomed out (which is normal, since the lens is made for APS-C), but it does cover the x-t3 sensor with the fringer adapter. It's a good test case for coverage, I think. The problem is the autofocus, in that lens' case. All around, the autofocus is not stellar with the fringer, even on the supported lenses. I'm going to shoot some ice hockey on Monday through the fringer and my Canon 70-200 f2.8 (non stabilized). I'm looking forward to seeing what results I can get there! It's been a long time since I shot that lens on a crop sensor - reach for days!
  5. @MushroomDude I haven't used a DC coupler (battery dummy) in the X-T3, but I have used a PD-compatible power supply into the USB-C port, and it seems to power the camera. I shot about 20 minutes of 4K video over an hour with the camera on the whole time, and the battery still showed full charge. That's normally enough to drain the battery. I guess in the upcoming firmware update they are adding a different icon to show when it's not running off the internal battery, which will be nice.
  6. New details regarding the upcoming firmware release...
  7. I have used the 70D to shoot ML raw, but I wouldn't say it works well. The ML menus often disappear and re-appear. Also, you can't record 1080p raw. The max resolution is somewhat less. Recording sound is also hit and miss on the experimental builds. The deal-breaker for me and the 70D was the aliasing. Whether shooting at 720p or near-1080p, the aliasing has been really bad for fine patterns. So much so that I was considering trying to get a Mosaic Engineering VAF for it. Instead, I decided to see the 70D and I bought a Fujifilm X-T3, which I've had for about a month now. Here's a sample of ML from the 70D "at its best" -- shooting a favourable subject:
  8. Thanks for the video link -- this is very useful.
  9. Ahh, thanks for that. I suspected it was something along those lines!
  10. I'm trying to fully understand X-T3 video autofocus, and I'm curious about the above. When I look at the display as I record video, I see "AF-C" in the lower left whether the front dial is set to AF-S or AF-C. (MF comes up too, of course, but let's stay with AF.) My experience, and my interpretation of the manual is that there's basically MF or AF-C as the top-level focus modes for video; and under AF-C there's either "Multi" (full automatic) or "Area" which focuses on what's inside the focus box. To autofocus on something and hold that focus, I've set the AF-L button to "Switch" rather than "Pressed", so I can lock the focus that's currently acquired until the next press of the AF-L releases it. This is akin to the "Shot" focus functionality, stopping it from refocusing. The below table doesn't seem to apply to Movie mode. In my testing, AF and Area do the same thing (Area), and they do this regardless of whether the physical dial is set to AF-C or AF-S. @Cameramoto, @Attila Bakos - Do you also get this, or does your experience contradict this? I would be interested to get the AF-S functionality in video without the AF-L workaround. Maybe I've got something in my settings that's blocking this for me? //Andrew
