  1. These things can both be true: Wonder Woman 1984 was blockbuster garbage. A man crying sexism because one shitty blockbuster (out of how many hundreds?) dares to portray men in an unflattering light is whiney, entitled, pathetic, microphallytic nonsense Do you write internet diatribes every time you see a movie that shows woman as oversexualized? As objects of ownership? As conniving bitches? As ditzy morons? You don’t, because if you did your wrists would break because there are so many of them. Look around you, the world is full of awful men doing nightmarish things. Why shouldn’t a clumsy blockbuster get to play with that trope as much as all the tropes about women? The film is absolutely terrible, but loads of terrible films are made by men all year round, filled with cliches and destructive stereotypes. It’s not other people making this an issue about sexism-it’s you. You have drawn a line that says stories by and about women can’t employ the same lazy filmmaking that is rife in Hollywood blockbusters. How is that not the definition of sexism? Also: I’ve seen literally zero hesitance in the media to call this movie lousy. Not sure what you’re reacting to, but nobody I’ve read is hailing this film as a milestone of feminism. Or even trying to defend its sheer awfulness from a filmmaking perspective. Like many small men, you’ve made a little internet fiefdom for yourself by spewing anger on a blog. Yawn. Perhaps turning that angry, critical eye on your own perception of women would prove instructive. Grow up, little piggy.
  2. If it works the same as Fuji’s other cameras, setting the mount adaptor setting to match the focal length of adapted lenses should give IBIS the info it needs to work properly: http://fujifilm-dsc.com/en/manual/gfx100/menu_shooting/shooting_setting/index.html#mount_adaptor_setting
  3. I don’t think Apple has given up on the prosumer market (their laptops are huge among creative prosumers), so much as recognized that—of the people complaining about wanting a modular, upgradable Mac desktop—only the well-funded, professional clientele are guaranteed to actually buy one. This is a niche of a niche for Apple with zero economies of scale, so it needs to be built for success. If it meets with success, the features might be funneled back to a lower end Mac Pro offering at some point. This kind of high-end subsidization of prosumer products is common. If not, Apple will probably abandon the pro desktop market for good, as it is little more than a spec of dust on their bottom line. Apple goes where they can make a dent with design; middle of the road, headless desktop PC’s are a dull challenge and commodity product that aren’t in their wheelhouse. I’m frankly BEYOND shocked that they announced a return to the tower form factor at all!
  4. Just keep doing you, man! The level to which brainless, artless social media whores have taken over representing creativity online is truly horrifying. Beyond shameful brand and corporate alignment, these folks have rendered the pursuit of art into a series of meaningless life hacks that give uncreative consumers the illusion of creativity. Want to be a great photographer? Strive for bokeh! Take long exposures of shorelines! Orange and teal everything! Lift those shadows to a mid-tone gray and vintagize your images by 30%! Consider these five tricks to make your photos look like [insert useless Instagram celebrity]! HDR it! As with many dreamers, I used to believe that the internet would democratize the publication of art by empowering artists. It has—technically—done that I suppose, but what few considered until it was too late (for art, journalism, hell—the truth!) is that it would cheapen and destroy creativity by putting a good-enough facsimile within reach of any slob with a phone without them needing to actually learn the craft. The good news is that cultural shifts come in waves that are eventually met with backlash. The hyper-shilling is already showing cracks and it’s fairly young. People in my country are witnessing the fatal outcome of celebrity worship via our presidential nightmare. I think we’re nearing a tipping point where authenticity will be highly valued again and I want folks like you to be around to reap the rewards!
