  1. make a lot of senses ! It's a good thing to test all of this in a controlled environnement before I use it for anything serious
  2. like i've said i'm not a pro colorist at all - today I was trying to match those differents shots to a "basic level", standardise them so I could apply a lut or something like that. My screen need to be recalibrated soon too, but I'm not sure where that spyder went ... i'm also quite tired and didn't spent to much time on the 3 way grade. I've drop the saturation a bit too for some of them, That would explain the washes out oranges. for myself it's a way to try and determine witch settings works best with my a7s and my taste. I'm starting to like ppoff with repmapping to 16-235 a lot; I like the eos LOG too - i need to test a lot more still ... I think i will try to tweak the EOSHD procolor cine a little, get the yellow down a bit maybe. The title of the book get a bit hard to read for some reasons
  3. new upload, i've tried to color correct a bit all the shots with 3 WAY to get a similar result

Yep, way too early to judge... and like andrew said, we should never judge any camera by sample on the web, especially not those one. It's all shoot way to quickly by excitement without serious testing. More serious reviews will come in the next month or so. I also think that the last one look quite good. Colors are beautiful, Dynamic range looks good, I like the softness too. It seems to hold plenty of infos in the shadow, it could have been underexpose a bit to keep the details on the white car at the back

this one is quite on par with your affirmation, when the focus shift a bit further - resolution seems to take a bit of a drop.

seems like 24p is quite terrible compare to the 60p mode

it looks like the digital IS influence quite a bit on moire

So far landscape shots looks quite terrible and close up look quite alright ! Hard to say what setting was use .. i know t2i just look about as horrible when sharpening is to the floor. There's a lot of customization possible if you go trough this youtube channel, plenty of short videos. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCi95pEv0HrV0onnWD9v1VKQ low light AF and the bluetooth connection seems great one last one with the macro... plenty of shots on the channel there

Sharpening is definitely on the standard setting ! Although it's not as crazy as the canon official promo shot in brazil - those edges !

yep! still think the sensor is a good update from the 18mp that canon recycled at so many different same same sauces. That is according to andrew's opinion on the 80d 1080p files - ex; better shadow recovery, bit sharper maybe, some moire and aliasing. I wonder if the 3x crop mode made it down to the M5 or they cripple that one too

Looking forward to test that combo too - OIS lenses should work great with the Canon digital IS + having STM motors for silent autofocus. On paper it look like a sweet vlog combo ! Even the rim light on the 28mm might help a bit to fill in a bit of facial shadow in low light situation... I will probably wait after christmas before ordering it. I feel like the price might drop a bit at that point. I wouldn't be surprise by canon to get that out for christmas at premium price and adjust it according to the sales responds That would be a good sweet spot.

I agree with you. I think it will be 799$ including the EF adapter in the next 6-12 months

Olympus is way ahead of every body in term of stabilisation. It's pretty much all they have in term of innovation ... 6.5stop - 5 sec. handheld shot is possible according to Olympus engineer - the earth rotation is now the limiting factor to push the gyroscope further.

Good one andrew ! :P It might seems like that - I'm not saying the m5 is a great video camera either, have it use though (For me it's going to be an expensive gopro kinda camera and for youtube). I will pair it with the 28mm macro IS only to start with. Very light combo with a standard FOV. Much lighter than my a7s with a zeiss 25mm. When I shop around for camera and lenses - I shop mainly for a usable sensor and try to pair it with a useful or favorite lens and stick with it. Weird, but I like it. Each sensor deserve it's own prime in my kit. The zeiss haven't left my a7s for the last 6 month witch ultimately will end up in front of a used nikon d750. Then I'm waiting for the laowa 15mm f2 FE to glue it in front of the a7s. I had a 400mm L on my 7d for wildlife witch I'm gonna switch to a 100L macro i think (3x crop mode raw video) Each combo have a different usage in mind. Then I pick one or 2 combo depending of the shooting situation i'm planning. If I had 3200$ laying around - EM1 mk2 and the 12-100 would definitely be part of the kit

Did canon piss in your cereal ? It's totally fine if the tool doesn't fit your need/budget, no need to start shooting at them with a russian semi auto. Almost the same specs as a 80d with close to be half the weight. I pack for long expedition in the backcountry... to me it's a great advantage of the m5. Every Gram make a difference on my back... EF-M have the same Flange distance as the E mount (18mm) and a mount that is .4mm bigger. Technically EF-M is one of the most adaptable mount out there. M5 offer bluetooth/wifi constant connection - 80d does not. The flippy screen at the bottom is only product segmentation. The sony flippy screen does not open on the side and nobody really cares or rant about it.... EVF versus OVF and It has peaking .. Touch screen autofocus is something sony is trying to copy but are still far from being there. And I don't even need to talk about the connectivity to wifi for remote shooting. Sony is a few years behind. I have 4k already .... and If i'm not able to tell my story with 60fps, I won't be able to tell it in 120fps either.... I don't even need to talk about rolling shutter. 60fps with little rolling shutter is perfect for my need. If I really need more, I can use twixtor or rent a slow mo cam. In premiere I find myself using a lot the wrap stabiliser ... I don't see why it would be such a bad thing to have one optimize by Canon. Features is one thing.... real world usability is something else. Price is subjective - Canon seems to hold a lot more value in the used market (maybe not on the M series, will see). Honestly, I would be piss at sony if I was a a6300 owner. And have you saw the price of that a6500 ? it's almost 1800$ here with tax... far stretch from 600$ of the a6000. I'm not ok with 791831 same model of a T2i but this is a small step in a good direction
  18. Have you tried pro instead of the sgamut?
  19. I don't have any affiliation or whatever with that blog but I'm really nerdy and I must admit, I like the work they do and find those news quite interesting. http://image-sensors-world.blogspot.ca/
  20. Next test - I will do a custom WB too

I love the colors coming off that d750 ! Well done sir
  22. I did a quick test with a few random items - i was trying to have a lot of different colors in the image. I'm far from a being pro colorist - and I haven't tried yet to color correct those shots. Here is a quick explanation of the setup and the test. 2 red head lights bounce on a white roof. Camera set to indoor WB except for thoses images at 5600k (I've had one ctb gel in on top of the spots lights - and set the a7s to outdoor wb) 3 way - I've use premiere pro cs6 with 3 way color (master ; checked) then I've use the shadow/mid/highlight dropper on the clapper on the black / grey / white respectively Slog2 is a bit tweak in cam by myself. The last image is a raw photo that went through lightroom with custom WB with the dropper on the white part of the clapper. And the screen shot below had a custom WB on the gray part of the clapper. I wanted to push my test a bit further but one of my light bulb just died on me. I will try to match those shots or do a serious grade tomorrow

Will post some test once the m5 reach my hand. Even if it's in the powershoot camera with a lot of limitation ... knowing Canon it should be somewhat of a good tool/toy
