  1. Maybe I didn't check it carefully enough. Are you sure the 4K25 isn't cropped? That would be good for me as my video editor (wevideo.com) only supports 4K25 without audio sync issue. I will definitely check and confirm if the 4K25 is not cropped then I will be filming in that all my 100+ videos with it in the 2 weeks to come.
  2. I just now am renting an A7III and I think it has issues, 4K25 and 4K30 cropping is a shame. I can't figure out how to tap on faces and things to lock Sony's autofocus continuous tracking onto them. Is that not possible? I couldn't possibly buy an A7III is it forces me to only film in 4K24 un-cropped or if it doesn't let me just simply tap on faces and things to lock the autofocus onto. The autofocus looks great but I need tap and track! I also think 2018 cameras should provide H265 encoding options at a lower bitrate to save on bitrate (yet keep the same quality) when uploading 4K to YouTube. 5 years ago Samsung was able to do some 4K30 in H265 so why can't the much newer Sony cameras do it? And to me the menus are just very confusing. The IBIS is not very usable for anything with someone walking, I want better IBIS and I don't care if that means they have to make the camera slightly larger. Gmaster Lenses (I am trying out the 16-35mm) are way too expensive.

I don't think the significant features like 4K60, 10bit etc, I think they have a new FPGA/CPU in there and etc. For X-H2 (hopefully coming soon), I hope Fuji adds unlimited 4K60 recording (not even a 30min limit), 10bit HLG (if possible 4:2:2 internally, if not I guess 4:2:0 will do), flip out display, new larger battery, perfect IBIS, more H265 options (especially when it comes to saving bitrate for 4K YouTube uploads at same quality).. My guess is that it's one thing for a camera to be able to encode H265, it does not mean it's able to compress to the optimal potential compression of the H265 codec, using all the high profile features that for example YouTube, Netflix and Amazon use to fit 4K streams into sub-25mbit/s in some cases (for Netflix) even down to around 15mbit/s for 4K. Now for sure I wouldn't want my camera to record in Netflix's over compressed low 4K bitrate, but I am imagining 4K30 could fit in something like 35-50mbit/s and 4K60 in something like 75-100mbit/s, and if using 10bit HLG maybe around 100mbit/s while all these in optimal high profile H264 encodes for the same quality might be about 50% to double the bitrate. For example the GH5 has what looks like to me to be an awesome H265 bitrate, the 4K30 HLG (10bit 4:2:0) on GH5 I think is 72mbit/s using H265. That just kind of sounds great. Just sounds like the same quality 4K30 10bit 4:2:0 HLG recording might have taken up 150mbit/s when using H264. But I never have been able to consider buying the GH5 as the video autofocus is just not anywhere good enough.

Looking at the spec page I see a lot of problems with video, sadly: - 4K60 works for "approx 20min" (sounds like overheating limit to me, I absolutely need unlimited 4K60 recording like GH5) - 4K60 is cropped 1.18x - video files are split at 4GB (unusable for me, I don't want to be joining 4GB clips in a video editor before being able to upload the 4K60 footage to YouTube) - 10bit video internally is 4:2:0 only - HLG (HDR) not yet available (but they say will come by end of year firmware update, not sure if 4:2:0 follows HLG spec, I thought 4:2:2 had to be the HLG spec) - no IBIS is no good for video and photo (means a $1000 gimball is compulsory for shots off tripod, I never shoot on tripod) - battery life is way too short means Battery grip is compulsory but goes through 5+ batteries in 1 day of video shooting. - LCD is not very bright and does not flip to the side (which rules out a lot of types of video shooting, I don't want to buy a camera without a side flip display) - Lack of object tracking in autofocus is a very big bummer (although the much better face tracking AF than GH5 is great!) - It looks like it can't do advanced high profile H265 real-time encoding. Does the H265 options provide lower bitrates which is the promise of H265? What does it do in H264 and what does it do in H265 exactly and at which bitrates for each? I want all frame rates and resolutions with H265 options at half the bitrate of H264 for the same quality. Is that not what it can do? Does it force you to use H265 for IPB? (without even saving a lot on the bitrate?) Since NX1 of 5 years ago I am waiting for a camera to be able to do 4K in H265 properly to save up to half the bandwidth and storage and still be YouTube direct upload compatible at the same 4K quality. I want a camera that does 75mbit/s H265 at the same quality as 150mbit/s in H264. Or 100mbit/s in H265 at the same quality as 200mbit/s in H264. This might require a much "stronger" "more advanced" "more complex profile" real-time H265 encoding ability. If YouTube, Netflix and Amazon fit their 4K24 streams within 25mbit/s H265 (encoding using strong multi-pass high profile H265 encoders) then surely there is a camera that can fit 4K60 nicely in about 75mbit/s bitrate in H265 when encoding real-time in camera comparable in quality to what it would do in like the GH5 in 150mbit/s using H264. This may not quite be it, I certainly hope Sony gives us new H265 options in their next A7000 APS-C High End and A7Siii.
  5. Only one XQD card slot? But that's not acceptable for any serious pro, is it? Only one slot means some Z6/Z7 owners most definitely will lose everything, which is unacceptable if you're doing a paid job. Dual card slots is a requirement! The lack of flippy display means the device is quite unusable for people creating content themselves without a dedicated cameraman at all times to check the framing, focus and etc. Filming yourself or conducting interviews is hopeless unless you add a bulky external display. What a shame. Does it have a 30min video record limit? I certainly hope not! And I want 4K 60p so I am not buying Z6, sorry. I wish these new high performance encoders had H265 codec as an option too to be able to record to a lower bitrate keeping the same quality, easier for YouTube 4K uploading for people (like me) who don't need/want to do post production rendering and the like.
  6. That's interesting! But I need YouTube. Have you tried uploading the 4K NX1 H265 files to YouTube recently? Does YouTube still not support H265 upload? YouTube is where all the views happen, where all the search rankings go.. It sounds weird of Google if they still don't support H265 upload. It doesn't make much sense as H265 takes less space on their server storage, as H265 takes less bandwidth for their users uploads, I would think it should be kind of easy for them to take the H265 uploads and transcode to whatever formats they offer. And how's the battery life when recording 4K H265 on the NX1? And it doesn't overheat and stop recording after a short time?
  7. Are these 4K H265 files from the Samsung NX1 still not supported to be uploaded directly to YouTube? And the NX500 doesn't have a microphone input, right? Can someone hack into Samsung and check if NX2 is going to be released?
  8. - 4K@30fps H265 starting at 40mbitps, H264 starting at 60mbitps, YouTube must support uploading of H265 files, good affordable video editing apps must also be supported in H265 without transcoding to H264 - 4K@60fps H265 starting at 80mbitps, H264 starting at 120mbitps - 5-axis dual optical image stabilization in 4K, same as Panasonic GX80/GX85 - audio mic jack, also multiple wireless audio receiving built-into the camera, maybe bluetooth lapel/handheld microphones, maybe another RF technology same quality as $500 Sennheiser/Sony wireless microphones, built-in to the camera - headphone jack, monitoring and easy adjustment of audio volume of each external wired or wireless microphone - perfect tracking auto-focus, whatever I click on the display it must keep good auto-focus on that object in handheld mode. My GH3 has terrible auto-focus, always loosing, always seeking, I need a much better 4K auto-focus - in camera editing functions for automatic intro clip added at start of every clip, transparent watermark added in bottom right corner of all recordings, outro automatically added to every clip, in-camera instant quick cut/join basic editing of multiple clips - second camera facing cameraman/interviewer like in Panasonic VX991 may be ok, or second/third/etc camera can be any smartphone or other wireless camera, real-time multi-camera editing on the camera display, to select other cameras to cut to using the touch-screen and then to come back to the main camera angle. Not be forced like with the VX991/VX981 to use second/third camera as a lame picture-in-picture only. This would suddenly enable multi-camera productions in real-time from the camera. - Live streaming to YouTube in 4K from the camera over Wi-Fi/Ethernet. May also be other live video streaming services, and easy upload of pictures to Google Photos, Google+, Facebook, Instagram, and to any other online photo sharing service. Instantly share to groups of friends from the camera. - Easy upload to YouTube over WiFi/Ethernet directly from the camera. - Dual SD card slots for safe backup while filming. Automatic backup to external local or remote backup solution, once backed up externally, space is cleared on internal SD card. - Change battery without having to turn off the camera nor to stop the recording, need small amount of internal power reserve while swapping the battery. - All that S-log3 stuff, make HDR good color video directly from within the camera, also make it possible to adjust those from within the camera. - Easily monitor video recording to cheap affordable external wireless or wired display or laptop. Color grading etc should easily be possible that way in real-time with or without external display within the camera. - Great low-light sensitivity, cinema-like image quality, good depth of field view effect easily switched on/off, enhanced or reduced without having to read a book on camera settings
