  1. Sure the coming updates will include the codec in windows, maybe they just can't finish it before christmas.

One thing I'm a bit worried is the performance with H.265 decoding. I transcode to ProResHQ to avoid CPU/GPU overload (intel 4790k with GTX 960) during editing and so far it works perfectly, but I don't know whether it will still be so smooth if I use H.265 directly without transcoding.

  2. I'm out of topic here but actually I think lack of smart EF-NX adapter is not a big deal. In fact the aperture adjustment of the EF lenses are never smooth, why bother if we use manual focus? Buying a couple of Nikon / Contax / ZF / FD / MD / OM lenses does make a lot of sense to me, they have much smoother manual focus with hard stop and declickable aperture ring.

  3. Anyone have experience with nikon lenses on the nx body ?

I only have some experience in ZF.2 lenses on my NX1. I own a distagon 35/2, 25/2 and a planar 50/1.4, haven't used them for video yet, but the photo's are stunning. No issue with infinity focus so far, I'm using an EF-NX adapter together with Nikon F-EF adapters bought on ebay.

    Oh no!

I just bought a Schneider 50 1.7 rollei QBM mount, but now I'm unable to find any QBM to Samsung NX adapters.

They seemed to be around a few weeks ago, now I'm having trouble finding one.

Anyone have any leads where I might be able to grab one of these?

There are adapters to convert QBM to EF mount. I have some friends using that adapter, it seems a good way to fit it on an EF-NX adapter.

  4. Hi,

Having been thinking of jumping into video for some time, I finally get a Samsung NX1. Amazing camera and it's a lot of fun. :)

However I'm recently a bit confused about the frame rates I can/should use.

Many people around me recommend using 24p in europe because it's cinema, and some people recommend 25p because we have 50Hz electricity here, some other people recommend 30p because of our monitors running 30/60Hz.

But if I look at the setting in my NX1, things getting a bit confused to me:

    Here is the setting available:

    UHD: (PAL) 24p, 25p                   / (NTSC) 23.98p, 24p, 30p

    FHD: (PAL) 24p, 25p, 50p, 100p / (NTSC) 23.98p, 24p, 30p, 60p, 120p

Then I realize if I use 24p PAL, the 50p/100p coming out from 1080p is not a 2x/4x slow motion. The same for NTSC if I use 23.98p or 24p.

30p seems a good frame rate if I think about slow motion and the monitor, but it seems many people are using 24p as standard.

I'm not going into any broadcast related business, does that mean I can just choose NTSC/30p for the highest frame rate (smooth) or is there something I need to think about first? Having tried to google and read threads from everywhere I feel a bit lost.

Any info/advice would be much appreciated.

    Kevin
