  1. Yes above that temporal filtering kicks in and messes around with the image. I'd rather have more noise like on the Pocket 4K than a wobbly mess and trailing. On the GH5 ISO800 was the max. ISO without it in the past. But now you can easily use ISO3200 without any issues.
  2. Since firmware 2.0 on the GH5 the issues were gone. Was shooting at ISO5000 even without any issues. Now I can only use up to ISO1600 I have another shot at ISO6400 where the out of focus background is looking like it's floating around in slow motion, will upload that sample as well. All caused by too much temporal noise reduction - it creates artifacts and only works when the image is static.
  3. Also encountered another big issue. The infamous ghosting issue from the GH5 which was fixed with firmware 2.0 made its comeback. Really thinking about selling the camera again. All my artificial light shots are basically messed up. Download provided on Vimeo.
  4. What if I have both yellow and blue in one shot? Not a solution sadly either - even if it works in some cases.
  5. The yellow clipping can be seen even on yellow blossoms in the sun. The blue clipping appeared in one of my clips with a colorful blue shirt in direct sunlight also. Blue lights and logos in the streets can't be turned off in general. The blue clipping also appears when something blue is shown on TVs, phones etc. And it happens with proper exposure without any ETTR. It really shouldn't
  6. Used the Moza Air 2 gimbal on a manfrotto monopod. Worked quite well. Yes, was in Egypt for a week. Music is in the description
  7. Overall I prefer the S1 over the Pocket 4K in everything but codecs. The image is smoother and has more detail to it. Colorscience is ahead of its competition as well as dynamic range. The 10 bit codec doesn't have any serious issues. Colorgrading works flawlessly. But the S1(H) has a serious problem: Blue and yellow color clipping which unlike the red clipping on the P4K cannot be recovered in post because there's no more data left. Prepare yourself for lots of reshoots.
  8. Trust me, if you would've shot this in V-Log you wouldn't even be able to recognize her face. It's that bad. Thinking about getting rid of my S1 already again - it's unusable in many situations. Even applying a yellow gel on a LED light causes posterization. Blue shirt in sunlight, clipping. Etc...
  9. hey. Appreciate it. Dynamic range on this camera is incredible so it's actually way harder to under- or overexpose than let's say a GH5. I usually just keep exposure around 0 and make sure nothing clips.
  10. No other Panasonic camera with V-Log ever showed this issue. Panasonic really needs to fix this, in case they can't I'll sell my S1 soon. Already ruined some shots and while the red clipping on the pocket 4k IS curable the blue (and yellow) clipping on the S1(H) with V-Log is not.
  11. Absolutely no sharpening at all and only slight hints of temporal but well implemented temporal noise reduction. A much nicer image than the Pocket 4K sure. Color science is ahead of the pocket 4k as well.
  12. They didn't, still the same issue. Whenever you see anything blue and saturated, switch to HLG.
  13. True. Still the S1 in my own tests shows more lattitude even with HLG at the moment, will receive my V-Log code today maybe and may do some more comparisons. When you do ETTR on the P4K even shooting in RAW the image starts looking "thin" but is free of noise though. The haloing issue creates an overall more videoish looking image with harsher microcontrast while the noise reduction filters actual detail in some cases. The Pocket6K btw looks way cleaner.
  14. Look at the comparison on top. there's nothing blown out in any of these two samples, but the BMP4K has significantly more noise in the shadows and some haloing going on in the girls hair. The S1 looks basically perfect - maybe too perfect - in this example and clearly has an advantage in color science and dynamic range. First image is GHa? It's a winner anyway
  15. The V-Log S1 sample is free of any sharpening and nr artifacts, wondering what this guy is talking about lol. If anything the S1 looks noticeably smoother. The Braw sample is full of noise and hair looks (enhanced). The exposure could have been even hotter to reduce the noise honestly, you can still lower ISO later to add some contrast back After two minutes of matching without any secondaries I came up with this. S1 V-Log P4K BMD Film V4
  16. I would have understand that in the 90s, but that was like 20 years ago.
  17. The Lut goes another route It basically does different conversions, limiting, gamut mapping for different hues and saturation levels - even the official method by BMD for lower sat levels. Just going the Arri route makes color really weird and inaccurate, worst looking are bright greens (foliage e.g.) or bright reds. The Arri conversion only works for bright blues, it prevents clipping there at least
  18. So you went down with Saturation Max to a low level. Looks horrible honestly. The light on the right is a really colorful red not dull pink and the one on the right is bright orange/yellow.
  19. I have to wait like 4 weeks for a physical box to arrive here. Already received like three emails by Panasonic lol Why is it that hard to send the code online? Really don't get it...
  20. Anyone has a spare V-Log code atm? Can send another one back once I receive mine which according to the Panasonic page may take up to 4 weeks? Will have do a project next week in Egypt and really want to use the camera for video as well. The IBIS is amazing! Just tried HLG on my new S1 and it looks plasticky, even with sharpening and NR dialed all the way down. I wonder wether Flat is the better choice for now. Atm I would rather choose my Pocket 4K for that job.
  21. Of course I did, here are the settings used. Attached is the Braw file A001_03192101_C073_320.braw
