Yea, the 17-50 on a FR is pretty sound for filming, if you don't mind the really short focus throw.
-
The GH3's a bit worse off, but still pretty good. The GH4 is only really bested by a top-level SLR.
I've always switched off all focus beam assists on all my cameras, and rarely have I suffered for it.

Aren't Lomos Russian junk? When did they become 4-7k?!

Which lenses have you used, and in what kind of environments?
A7 with a 28-70, A7R with 35/2.8 and 55/1.8. The former while I used the camera in a currently in-limbo review, the latter when someone passed me the camera for a bit for fun. Oh and the A7S with the 70-200 at a tradeshow, but that was really brief. I do remember struggling with getting the AF to work then, but it was pointed at a dim area.
Used in both indoors and outdoors, and I know my own GH3 is far quicker in just about every comparison.

If stills are needed I still would stick to a DSLR, or another mirrorless system: The Sony's AF does not inspire.

Actually, it does happen, and happens quite often. The practice apparently is a bit dodgy; the customs form won't be the most honest bit of paperwork you'll ever see. I mentioned factoring 20% in case a) the package gets intercepted and b) Panamoz doesn't honour the no-VAT bit.
-
Oh, and one more thing: I'm pretty certain you'll get a non-VAT receipt, and despite what Panamoz claims I'm also quite certain they're playing a game of cat-and-mouse with HMRC. You may want to factor the 20% VAT just in case.

Definitely better than the D610.
You can activate AF during filming on the D750 but it's very hit-and-miss. Really not recommended.

Warranties only last a year, so if you keep the camera long enough, that part will have little consequence. Check to see if Sony UK will service grey market items, and if there will be any additional surcharges if so.
-
Just began reading this thread - does this continually AF in video mode, and if so, how does that compare with the 70d (not IQ wise obviously).
Thanks!
C-AF in video is not the D750's strong point. The 70D is still much faster.

Yea, I'm going to go with editing (pacing needs to be tighter) and camera handling as your top two fixes. After that learn a bit about exposure.
Weddings are a pain because they're events that really constrict you. Good luck with your future shoots!

Doubt it, as scenes rarely lit that way, same as in real-life: You don't walk around with a headlight strapped to your forehead, right? That's the kind of look it'll produce.
-
Also you can't use any of them during recording, which is bloody stupid.
So um, what happens if you need to change focus? Eyeball it on the rear LCD?

Why on Earth did Panasonic follow Fuji with the "cute" retro X100 series?
Because there are many many many photographers who like this particular control layout. They think it gives them more manual control. I've done this argument so many times and I don't think I'll ever get them to change their minds, despite the reality.
-
And this is why I actively dislike manual fixed function dials vs modern command dials.

Re: the speedbooster, I'm not looking to pay more money but the GH4 does look cool. The GH2 and GH3 impressed me... other than the awful interface. Maybe I'll pick up an SL1, it's cheap and cute.
Could you post some images where you found the extra shadow detail helpful in post processing? I don't doubt that it's useful for a certain kind of look, but someone once cited I think it was Marc Adamus as someone who got a lot out of the D800 and while a few of his shots are great, 90% of the post processing he does looks horrible to me.
I do see the value in the D810 for landscapes, particularly if you want an HDR "look" or shoot wide dynamic range scenes with wide lenses. But I don't do that. :) I like Canon's skin tones for portraiture and autofocus and speed for sports, photojournalism, etc. If I had the money I'd buy both.
Don't have them handy (they're not on the web) but if you're the kind to push curves, dodge, burn, use a bunch of adjustment layers, you'll need all the help you can get. Some files just fall apart faster than others.

How happy are you with the 60D's photo quality first? Do you want a big upgrade from that? Despite the smaller sensor the GH4 will be an upgrade over the 60D stills-wise.
I really don't like the A7 cameras despite their image quality. There's something about the UI that throws me off. And that supremely loud shutter is just a pain when trying to maximise stability.

Hmm, is Philip Bloom's footage de-fished?

Thanks!! I was starting to think there was something wrong with my lens. Could it be a problem with the way connection points on the lens not the camera? Anyways, let's hope they fix it.
No, it should be a firmware issue. These things are reversed engineered so it's never 100%. Wait for Sigma to push a firmware update. Maybe get the USB dock in the meantime?

Even new the D800 dropped a lot. Here it has been going for less than €2100, so it's not surprising it goes for €1600 second hand. Then Nikon introduced the D810, and decided only the pro dealers can sell it... the price has been a very steady €3299 (msrp) since the introduction.
Yikes! 3299? Maybe I should get into the grey market business in Europe...

None of the cameras have gyroscopes, I believe, so this will still require external solutions for now. GH5 perhaps? :P

When did Zeiss make m/43 lenses?
-
I believe you need to use a linear and a circular together for that to work.
Helping my partner pick his NEW camera.

What kind of photography, and what quality level is needed?
