  1. There is no FW upgrade that improves start up time
  2. It's primarily a still camera -- and will sell very well among sports photographers, a companion to 1Dx. Prosumers Video market is tiny, especially when there are dedicated/cheap camcorders anyway. Even GH4 isn't that big seller-- that should tell us its pretty tiny market segment. If anyone doubts that look at number of average daily users for GH2 and GH3 https://www.flickr.com/cameras/panasonic/
  3. This is interesting as FS7 seems to inspired by this talk. Everything in FS7, including shape and size of handgrip, is exactly copied from this talk.
  4. That just means the sensor was made in Toshiba factory. It can still be exact same Sony/Nikon sensor made in Toshiba factory due full capacity overload in regular Sony factory that was making the sensor. Doesn't prove shit. Toshiba and Sony share resources like that. That's nothing new.
  5. Some of these questions are silly. "10) The Nikon Df shared an almost identical aesthetic design to the old Nikon FM film camera, yet despite being a digital body with a very high price it is bigger and has more plastic on it. Why?" Bigger? Isn't it obvious why? A digital sensor is much thicker than film and produces heat, unlike film. Why won't it be bigger? "7) The sensor in the D5200 was manufactured by Sony and the sensor in the D5300 had Toshiba markings despite being almost identical in terms of performance and design. Was this a Nikon designed sensor, with the manufacturing outsourced to other companies?" Probably because it's just the same Sony/Nikon sensor manufactured in Toshiba factory. Sony and Toshiba do share resources like manufacturing factories.
  6. Where do you get A5100 has full sensor readout? It has XAVC, yes, but it's newer model, but I haven't seen reference to full sensor readout without line skipping.
  7. No, as F55 sensor is different too: Global shutter on FF
  8. I assume you meant 8K sensor with a few tricks, not true 8K Of course F65 does true 4K
  9. Not sure if this was posted A7s and GH4 shootout
  10. A7s in camera HD is cleaner than GH4 with no aliasing while GH4 has aliasing http://***URL removed***/reviews/image-comparison/fullscreen?attr29_0=panasonic_dmcgh4&attr29_1=sony_a7s&attr72_0=1080&attr72_1=1080&normalization=full&widget=131&x=-0.007043369183988043&y=-0.012898684010922203
  11. Three different video shot in different conditions, lighting, graded totally differently doesn't prove anything how the image quality compares to each other. DPReview now does studio still shot taken from video. That will really show how D810 does in capturing detail and moire compared to others.
  12. iso 12,800 is absolutely fine A7s. This video is in crop mode with line skipping. 24-30 fps iso 12,800 is just fine.
  13. Then you can sell A7s on used market and buy a new one :) That's an year without a FF camera. I predict the next year will be F60 with FF 12 MP sensor, same body as F55, and with global shutter.
  14. What's interesting is that in APSC mode there is no change. It's all sharp from 24-60p https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=de&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.slashcam.de%2Fartikel%2FTest%2FSony-A7s---Schaerfe-und-Moires.html&edit-text=
  15. Doesn't 60p skip lines? The rolling shutter on A7s looks to be comparable to GH3 in APSC mode.
  16. F55 has global shutter, too
  17. The dynamic range with SLog will totally blow the crap out of GH4, as well as low light performance, probably 4 stop advantage in video mode. I would like to see 5D III raw vs A7s Slog Even Alexa has rolling shutter.
  18. raw has yet to undergo demosaicing and that's same for all raw. That's why they are raw. A raw file is developed on computer. Dxomark are comparing raw, not jpegs
  19. According to the specs, the battery life for video on A7s is around 90 min. . This is same as Black magic camera where battery isn't even swabable. 5D III averages around 90 minutes per battery for video too
  20. It's 14-bit raw with visually lossless compression that does not effect image quality, as shown by dxomark. There is no difference in raw image quality between A7R and D800 Red Dragon scores higher than both with compressed raw. It's a big plus. "36MP " MP and raw bit has no relation. In fact if anything higher MP sensor can use lowers bits due to smaller pixels that would require less bits due to more noise that visually lossless compression could ignore without any negative con on image quality
  21. Are they jpegs or raw? Dxomark couldn't find these "differences"
  22. Red seems to do fine with compressed raw. Compressed raw is actually better as it has no visible impact on image quality but yet procuces smaller files., as shown by paper here http://theory.uchicago.edu/~ejm/pix/20d/tests/noise/noise-p3.html The right here is " "visually lossless"" as the "data" that is removed has no visual information. (it's random noise)
