  1. Can someone explain to me what shooting in Like709 bascially does? I don't quite understand it.
  2. With the summer update, and if you're going to record 400 Mbp/s ALL-I, then a 60MB/s card will just be barely enough. With the 95MB/s card you're absolutely good to go for every recording mode. Does anyone know the base / native ISO of the GH5 yet? I read mixed information. Some say it's ISO 200. The manual says that V-LOG shoots at ISO 400 at minimum. And some websites claim it's either 400 or even 800. Anyone who knows this for sure?
  3. I've realised that when I turn IBIS on with the option E-stabilization, that there is a fair amount of cropping going on. In the manual says this 'might induce cropping', so that means it doesn't happen to anyone. Does this happen because I use non-compatible lenses with a Speed Booster? I've tried setting a different focal length as the input, but it doesn't make any difference. Also, the anti-shake stabilzation with the hand symbol, actually does seem to work and without any additional crop. Does it matter which focal length I set for input for the anti-shake stabilization?
  4. Yes it should be. I'm using 64 GB cards with a 60 MB/s write speed and it works fine.

  6. The GH5 currently is worth it for one single reason alone. 4k at 50p / 60p. If you need it. And I do.
  7. Ah great explanation Don Kotlos. One more mystery to solve regarding the IBIS. I currently have this understanding of it, but please correct me if I'm wrong. There are 3 modes to use image stabilization. - Anti shake and jitter (the one with the hand symbol) - E-Stabilzation for Video (uses the full IBIS system) - Dual IS (combination of IBIS and IOS) Now I'm using a Speed Booster and a Sigma 18-35 so the Dual IS isn't possible for me. The Anti-shake stabilization, with the hand symbol, should work fine in video mode as well right? To eliminate jitters? It doesn't need any input about focal length and it doesn't induce extra crop. So this is great if it works. Will do some tests this week. Then there's the full IBIS for video which is called e-stabilization. It says in the manual that this 'might induce an additional crop' or zoom. For me it certainly does. Because of the manual, unsupported lens? I have tried to enter the correct focal length but this has no effect on the additional crop. Which is pretty substantial if you ask me. I have did some walking tests and I wasn't very happily surprised by the results. It was warping all over the place in the corners. Much like Warp Stabilizer. Anyone experience similar results? I'm sure if you just stand still it will work fine, but walking or moving with this setup was pretty messy. Last question. The IBIS asks for input about focal length cause it doesn't recognize my lens. Let's say I use the Sigma at 18 mm with a 0.64x Speed Booster. Would the correct input be 11.5 mm? Thanks guys. Just trying to sort things out.
  8. Haha oh yea I see it now! Thanks. Good to know.
  9. I have received my GH5 today! First tests look great. Huge improvement over the GH3 Question. When I opened the package and held the GH5 in my hands for the first time, I realized it makes a noise when I move or shake the camera. Just tested again, and I stil hear it. No it's not the strap holders :P It's coming from deep within the camera. Now it could be the IBIS system or whatever that can move, but I just wanted to make sure I don't have a faulty unit. Does your's make any noise when you shake the camera, without lens?
  10. UPDATE: I received the Seetec F7. Let me post my findings here as I promised. It's fucking awesome. Paired it to the GH5 today. Colors are 99% the same as what I see on the camera's own display. 7 inch is a perfect size for me as I like to be inspired with what I'm shooting. It's tack sharp and viewing angles are great. There is a slight delay which shouldn't be more than 0.3 secs. I am used to it, my other monitor had it also, but it is there. Might put some people off. For the rest I see no downsides. It has peaking, a zoom in function, and takes Sony NP-F970 batteries. I don't know how those will last yet. I expect at least half a day. Hard to beat for the price I think. As it came in a brandless box, I'm pretty sure these are 100% the same monitors as the Feelworld monitors and most like also the same as the Cinemartins. Happy shooting!
  11. Got the GH5 today! First shots in 4K 50p look absolutely stunning. I have also messed around a bit with the VFR. I tried some shots at 180 fps. Very cool. That's like 7.8 times slower than real life isn't it? Quite amazing. I noticed though that the screen doesn't show the actual exposure before recording in the VFR mode. It shows the image way brighter than it actually is. It's until after you press the record button, that the screen shots the actual exposure. This doesn't happen in any other recording mode as I have put the option 'constant preview'. Anyone knows if it is possible to change this?
  12. At that price point it is almost guaranteed that it is a rebranded Chinese monitor. I've read people commenting it is a rebranded Feelworld / Seetec F7. Not sure though. From the other hand, almost all companies have their production in China, Taiwan or Korea. So what is the actual difference between 'well known' companies and Chinese ones? It's everything, but the product itself.
  13. Or just search for the Seetec F7. Exactly the same monitor! Maybe it's even slightly better because Seetec is the main brand name
  14. Just this weekend I've seen the VS2 in action. My 2nd shooter was using one. At first it looked good to me, but then we realised the colors are soooo off. The colors were completely differrent than what we saw on the GH4's own display. Dealbreaker. People are saying the colors of te FW760 are pretty good. So I expect it to be similar or the same as the F7. Will post my findings here later. That BestView monitor looks good as well SR. It even claims to be a 10-bit panel. I wonder how much difference that would make in real life, but the specs are great. Looks a bit 'dated' design-wise though. Just like the FW-760. The F7 looks a lot better if that's important to anyone.
  15. Ok, I bit the bullet and went for this one: https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/Seetec-F7-7-Inch-Utra-Slim-IPS-Full-HD-1920x1200-4K-HDMI-On-camera-Video-Field/32776738097.html After checking out the Feelworld FW-760, I discovered that there is a 'new' monitor from Feelworld, the F7. It has the exact same specs and I expect the exact same panel, just a more modern housing. Then I realised that Feelworld is a sub-brand of Seetec, which is the brand my current monitor is from. Googeling further, I found out that the F7 monitor is availble with both Feelworld and Seetec branding. Same difference. Went with the Seetec because it was a tad cheaper to send to my country. It should arrive in like 2 weeks so I will let you know once I've messed around with it. I expect it to be similar to the FW-760, just with a more modern look. Someone also said on YouTube that this F7 is the same monitor as the Cinemartin Loyal LT and just a rebrand. Probably true but that's not confirmed. Thanks for the help everyone. Happy shooting.
  16. Thanks guys. The Cinemartin 4k version still looks like the best option to me, but it hasn't really been on the market yet give or take a few copies. The seller told me on Facebook the shipping of both versions is 'delayed' up to 6-7 weeks. So that's not very comforting. The Feelworld looks good as well, but I hear complaints about major battery drainage and the monitor stays on as long as a battery has been mounted. Someone wrote a review and stated he needs 4 Sony NP-F970 batteries on a day! I currently have a monitor (Seetec 5.6 inch) which doesn't even drain 1 one of those on a 14-hour wedding shoot. Also, there seems to be a delay. I don't know how big it is, but people complain about it. Then, one more general question. I am planning to buy the Panasonic GH5 soon and shoot at 2160p at 50 frames per second. Are these monitors handeling such an input signal? Or does the GH5 already 'downscale' the HDMI-signal so (almost) any monitor can handle it? The Cinemartin for instance has 2 versions. The HD version and the 4k version. The 4k version supports input up to 2160p 30 fps. So does anyone know how this works? Thanks.
  17. Hi everyone, I'm currently using a Seetec 5.6 inch 1280x800 monitor for my wedding shoots. It's not bad and it was very cheap. I got some cracks in the screen from weekly abuse and it's time for something better now. I don't want to spend too much on this as I bought already much gear this year. I came across this one: http://www.cinemartin.com/monitors/7inch/loyal/lt/ Anyone has any experience with those? The specs are too good to be true at this price point, so there must be something off. I don't need perfect colors, but it should be at least a bit accurate so I don't end up with completely different looking footage. Any other monitors that you know of that aren't expensive and give good quality for the price? Preferably 1080p and 5.6-7 inch? Thanks in advance. Happy shooting.
  18. So many people are shooting with pre-production models it seems. Why do they have one and I don't? :D Did they contact Panasonic or did Panasonic contact them? Anyone knows where all these people get them from?
  19. I contacted the manufacturer and they have replied. The version of the filter which is supposed to go on the back of the lens, does not work with Nikon versions of the lens and the Speed Booster. They recommended me to buy the front filter in stead. I think the results with that filter are not in the same ballpark unfortunately.
  20. I came across this little filter which supposedly provide an anomorphic-like bokeh and lensflare on virtually any lens. You screw the filter on the back of your lens and you're good to go. I would like to try one, but since I'm always using a Speed Booster I have my concerns. Their website says that 'some people' have no problem using this filter with the Sigma 18-35 f1.8 and the Speed Booster, but other's might. Well, that's a bit vague so I thought let me ask it here. Have any of you ever used this filter with a Speedbooster and even with a Sigma 18-35 Nikon mount? I plan to use the Cinemorph filter on a GH5 with a Sigma 18-35 (Nikon) and a Speed Booster XL. If you've ever seen or used one, let me know! Thanks.
  21. Does anyone know if this camera supports UHS-II SD cards? Or needs USH-II cards? And will a write speed of 95 MB/s (Sandisk extreme pro) be sufficient for 4k 60p recording?
  22. I have an important question. Where are these people who make testvideo's getting their GH5's from? Did Panasonic contact them? Did they contact Panasonic? I have a wedding coming up soon and would love to use it but I guess that's not going to happen. And did they 'borrow' a pre-production model or simply received one? How does that even work?
  23. Oh great. Didn't know that option existed That would solve my problems.
  24. Hey everyone, I'm very stoked about the GH5 and will shoot a lot in 4k 50 fps! The question is, which external monitor will accept this signal as input? I'm using a cheap Seetec monitor at the moment with the GH3, but I don't think it is able to handle a 4k 50 fps feed. I've seen some affordable newer monitors which accept a 4K signal, but only 30 fps at most. Anyone knows anyhing about this? Or could recommend some fairly priced monitors?
