  1. Is the GH3 really better in low light than APS-C? The low-light question is the only thing holding me back from a purchase...

Definitely. Not by leaps and bounds, but a noticeable bit. I shot with the t2i for years, and recently had chance to shoot a short film on the GH3. Noise performance at 800 and 1600 ISO is better.

  2. Well said but as a filmmaker I also like people to say what could be better next to the good things - only then you can improve next time.

    It's called feedback  ;)

agreed, as long as its constructive and helpful! I think he is mostly referring to people who are just jerks. comments like "you suck" "quit now" etc.

  3. I have a background in music performance and education, and this has been going around social media sites between my music friends. However I can't help but think it is also incredibly relevant to those of us in the video/film realm.

Just some food for thought. I hope its encouraging

  4. That's fine for the 4K version, but as far as i understand the pocket camera uses the same sensor as the V1 EF and MFT. There is still alot of people waiting for the camera they ordered back in 2012. The MFT was meant to be released in Decmeber. It's now April and they are still in beta testing mode!

It is also a different sensor, just with a similar image.

Hands on vid. Not much information and blackmagic seems to be contradicting themselves as they state in this video the pocket camera is proress only.

I am confused. He is saying it doesn't record RAW. But the website says RAW

  6. So with the announcement of the Black Magic Pocket cam, it seems inevitable that C mount lenses are going to be come very desirable. I'm not too familiar with them. Anyone know of any good resources for learning whats out there, or good places to buy? ebay?

    Favorite C mount lenses?

  7. Totally blown away by this.

And it isn't just the slow mo -  Imagine the kind of photography in terms of the stills you can get with this ultra high resolution, high speed cinematography.

Congrats to Vision Research, AbelCine and the director Brendan Bellomo and DP Gregory Wilson.

That'd be a pretty expensive photo shoot! But yes, huge potential

Really exceptional image quality and some amazingly cool shots.

  8. yup, and cheaper than a JuicedLink Riggy Micro 222 plus Zoom H1 combo; bigger and heavier though, I'm interested if its pre-amp is cleaner than the H4n and other portable Tascam recorders.

Yeah, at the price I dont have a lot of faith that this sounds any better than anything thats on the market already. Form and functionality wise though this product is brilliant. They will probably sell a ton of these
