1. BTW can anyone point me to some videos putting the C300 in good use? I know the promo stuff filmed for canon upon release, but maybe a TV show, a documentary or even ENG work with the C300? I expect the image difference to the C100 to be small, just like with Panasonic P2 cameras and their AVCHD counterparts, recording on SD cards. Seriously, all this talk of the C100 in comparison to what the C300 offers - but what DOES the C300 offer? The C300 users probably don´t flood the internet as much as HDSLR users with their footage, maybe that´s why I get the impression, the C300 isn´t that much of a "established reference" in the camera world (yet)...? @JG Maybe you can show sth (non classified) from your editing job...? Thanks!

RX100 vs LX7

Damn, you did it again, great video JG! @ Glenn By music video do you mean live recordings? Being able to add an external mic on the LX7 might outweight a not as good image compared to the RX100 in this case...
3. I really like the C100´s style, but I somehow can´t believe the picture (and codec) will be better than a MIII or GH3 in real live. This market segmentation and feature limiting should finally start of more companies focusing on hacking the formfactor of HDSLRs. I´m thinking of a cage-like enclosure that adds a C300 side grip, one or two mini XLRs with preamp/phantompower and a high res 5inch display (positioned like on the C100) with a dedicated loupe. Oh and make versions for the GH3, the D800, MIII and who ever will join the ranks, with a dedicated batterygrip as the connection point, so you can "dock" your camera on/into the enclosure. Make it 1500$ or up to 2500$ with a built in Ninja like HDMI recorder. No Lego-like rigs, a solid one-piece construction. You´d end up around 4000, just where a 8bit 4:2:0 AVCHD camera should sit in 2012. Basically Edelkrone has to sit down with SmallHD, Atomos and Beachtek - can´t be that hard ;) ;) ;)
4. I really try NOT to see the shortcomings of an upcoming camera and rather focus on its good features, but I can´t stop thinking about Canon´s "post5DMII accident" roadmap as a "greedy businessplan" rather than a technological roadmap. Every company is out there to make money, I use a camera to make money, all good. But the features determining a 50% price cut/difference between quite similar products from the same company just are kind of "offending" to me. But hey, take it or leave it I guess... ;)
5. Hmm compared to what we already know about Sony, the BMC or even Fuji it´s suspiciously silent on the Panasonic front... I hope we really all hold our breaths, once the NDAs end...

GH2 Rehousing

Found this via DVXuser: https://vimeo.com/45215739 Has this been mentioned here yet?
8.
Care to elaborate more?
Why? The cam doesn´t look pretty or ergonomic in my eyes. But if the pictures are good, who cares? ;)
9. Interesting times. Instead of letting pro-customers buy a Sony consumer cam and making it "pro" by buying costly accessories like rig, monitor, audiorecorders aso, they just re-box it themselves and earn the money.
10. It looks like someone at Microsoft wanted to design sth for Apple. Anyways´s, I couldn´t care less if the final image out of the BMC delivers what was promised.
11. Nothing about chip size? I really like Fuji´s approach. Sth I always was hoping Ricoh would do. A nice "kind of small" large sensor camera, which is nice to grab and hold. Video mode needs to be good this time though, even if I would never use it for a job. Just for peace of mind.
12. Yeah awesome DIY project, but technically no shotgun...
13. Sony has nothing to loose right now, their consumer ship (TV related stuff) is sinking. So they put out the RX100, it just feels natural to follow that route withe the bigger cams. And although they have to protect their still well going broadcast segment, they can´t ignore the market created by the 5DII anymore. You just cannot undo the fact that former ENG camera users switched to DSLRs. This also means the market has switched to buying rather than renting/leasing. People hesitating to buy a EX1 with cards, dedicated reader and an ENG tripod and rather rent when they need one, will spend half that price on a good videoDSLR - and are happy to be able to take great pictures of their loved ones too with it ;) People working for broadcasters or with another fixed/limited workflows will still buy the Sony broadcast line. Rant over;)
14. I was also looking at the novoflex, but went for this: http://www.flm-gmbh.de/product_show4a19.html The novflex doesn´t have a waterlevel and the FLM also supports a higher load, which was important for me for slider shots... Also cheaper, but the Novoflex looks better, that´s for sure ;)
15. The only thing I want to add is: Wether you end up building a cage or a housing - design it in a way that users want to take it in their hands. Make it FEEL good. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oA-35GJmRlo/T2M45Vf8YDI/AAAAAAAACnQ/6TrSZWzRX_E/s1600/sony-nex-7-rewo-wood-cage.jpg I want to hold that, I want to use that. All these options for cages, cases, rigs already out there are more or less perfectly engineered, all very functional, but at the same time cold and sterile. That was the best thing of using a DSLR the first time for filmmaking: I knew that feeling in my hands. A 5D for example just feels good in my hands. IMHO all the smaller (DSLR or not) cameras lack that feel (although I might use them more often because they are better video cameras). So, yes different mounting options and cooling are a must, but maybe also think of just making the bare camera, without lights, friction arms, rods, FF and so on, more likable to a shooter. In short: Make it sexy.
16. Any chance a NEX hack works on a HX9V and enables some manual control? I know the camera isn´t of much interest for filmmakers, but it´s a nice makingof/backup/covert filming/everyday cam...
