  1. Look at the chip size. Even if they put this in A7S, they will ditch the IBIS, cause it would have issues with moving 39mm wide sensor in that restrictive mount. It also helps them handle the heat. However, this is off-the-shelf chip (Sony Semi doesn't need to write marketing stuff for Sony Imaging, right?), meaning its available for camera makers to buy NOW. Its very unlikely that they use a sensor for their upcoming camera AFTER it was available for others.
  2. The difference is less than a half stop and only at base ISO.
  3. 16bit is ordered by marketing department. Even 14bit is only useful at base ISO, beyond that you only waste the extra bit with noise.
  4. I haven't seen a sport shooter with 20mp or 24mp camera who says "I need more pixels".
  5. Same ambient light, same lens, same settings, same processor, and yet different AWB values.
  6. Added a quick clarity and sharpening to DPR's 4k sample of A7III. They are very close in details. And as we know, Sony Standard color is terrible.
  7. Imagine the meeting where one of them suggested banning eoshd URLs in the forum and others said yea, its a good idea lets do it. Imagine the volume of RAW arrogance in that room.
  8. I can open his forum to see the comments but got 404 error when I clicked on post titles! What a joke.
  9. They did their best to lower the cost of production as extreme as possible and yet they reported lower profit for their half year.
  10. Its not hate. Its a natural reaction to absurdity of CEO's cluelessness about the company in her hand.
  11. The name of the company should be Cinetrolla.
  12. You can use your camera as a card reader, but Japanese use low cost parts in cameras so its way slower than what USB3 is able to deliver.
  13. He set WB manually at 4000. All of them has color balance problem in low light.
  14. "The global shutter operates only when the shutter speed is faster than 1/120" Seems not ready for photography. Probably can't handle too much electrons.
  15. I like a lot what I see here, but seems Sony has some metering issue (or profile?).. look at the clipped highlights in 8 bit part:
  16. With all these announcements they have to beef up many things.
  17. I think the overexpose is not the right term here. Exposure is light, filtered by time, filtered by aperture. Period. ISO has nothing to do with that. But, basically you use higher ISO to "underexpose" and get equal brightness of normally exposed image (which is important for action photographers, they can use higher shutter speed without the image "look" darker). So in case of log, they don't tell you to overexpose, they just ask you to Not Underexpose!
