1. yup ... 12 or 13.9 MP are overshot for 1080p... 8MP would be perfect ... my English is less than perfect but i try to explain ... 2x2 pixel binning in 8MP sensor gives perfect 1080p image .... but if 12MP sensor does 2x2 we get 3MP image ... then camera CPU needs to do quick'n'dirty realtime resizing to 1080p and that introduce softness to image and some moire/aliasing ...
2. 16:9 crop part of sensor is 12MP more than 8.3MP c300 (and c300 goes 1200lp)... there is more than enough pixels for high resolution video if downscaling is done proper ... only downside is that we lost 1.5mm of sensor width ...
3. what's wrong with sony sensor ... it's best 4/3 sensor ever made ... panasonic did brave move ... better to buy from sony if they can't match spec ...
4. panasonic decide not to treat GH as a bastard child of video production any more ... that is a great news ....
5. looks like that rolling shutter is definitely improved ... that train shot would be problem for alexa and epic ... but rest hand handled parts look great ... all cmos cameras have rolling shutter ...

8. that was my point... there is more than just a sensor for image quality ...
9. looks like that nikon did better job ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FTrz2p-vgs but its too early to make any decision....
10. there is no big sensor 10-bit 4-2-2 camera below 14000$ except BMC ...
11. maybe their sensor manufacture said "sorry guys you order too many units , be patient "
12. its passive MTF ... only manual lens will work... for some people EF version makes more sense .... BMC MTF version is pure cinema and EF would be better for run'n'gun ...
13. @markm excellent observation ... and surprise from BMD ... http://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/blackmagiccinemacamera BMC with MTF ...
14. @jcs sorry man ... but that image is way oversharpned ... u can get away with that when u shoot vistas but for faces not... and u can get 1000 lines from 5d3 if u put camera close enough .... testing resolution is precise process ... and all professional tests show no more than 600lines ...
15. moire removal in lightroom 4... http://www.bmcuser.com/showthread.php?906-Resolution-charts/page5
16. BMCC doesn't have have AA filter ... BMD decide to go LEICA way for best resolution and color separation .... http://www.digilloyd...xMaxD700HR.html we will see some moire in charts but in real world almost never .... and dont forget that c300 resolves 1200 lines of resolution over nyquist limit ... that makes BMC even more impressive .... http://provideocoali...cine_camera/P3/
17. for all future BMC users this is "coming to age" process ... going from DSLR and baked gammas to RAW can be hard .... and people will make mistakes ... its much easer to professional DPs with all direct help from camera manufactures and digital experts... but indie guys will be left alone to help each other ...for me that blog post was very helpful , more than some camera reviews .... their mistakes make our skills better ...
18. good example how not to use BMC ... too much underexpose ... everything is on far left side of histogram ... DP treat that camera as DSLR and RAW is opposite .... but its very useful ... learn from others mistakes ...
19. i dont think panasonic would implement avc ultra on gh3 ... they need to left out something for big boys... but 8 422 codec would be nice .... and some log curve ...
20. i dont think its going to be more than 1100$ body... is photo camera and not just video ... not many photographs would pay big money for 43 camera ... panasonic can make lot of cash by selling lens ...
21. looks like that panasonic decide to kill competition .... it would not be so hard for them with all that experience in video camera design .... probably we could expect af200 soon but with avc ultra ....
22. BMC has huge pixels and about 77 lp/mm any decent lens can resolve this .... people like to pay more so they can have red 4K on their lens ....
23. but now serious ... people should show respect for someone hard work ....Grant Petty looks like a decent guy who knows his jobs and he done presentation without BS and hype but with lot of passion and knowledge ... i would hate to see someone read comments from some guy with more ego than knowledge and confused that ignorant rant with real information and make opinion ....
