Is there any real difference between Safari 14 in Catalina vs Big Sur? Same version in both isn't it!

Looking for reports, from those who've been brave enough to update. The new icons are terrible by the way 🙂

That thing could have run and run. It is a shame it was a one off. Maybe we should organise our own!! After the global plague that is.

Here is a new series on EOSHD... It's a podcast. The aim is to put out long 1-2 hour conversations, in the style of Joe Rogen - touching on subjects others dare not, sort of. Oh and some camera nerd talk as well... https://www.eoshd.com/news/the-eoshd-podcast-episode-1-british-filmmaker-jg-harding/ Hope you enjoy it, and thanks to JG for taking part in this episode.

And it's out... Download it from here - https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve/

Thanks for the explanation. It's a 50MP Quad Bayer sensor in the phone, almost 1" size. Quad Bayer can use Dual ISO in one exposure, the pixels at different exposures are merged in the 12MP shot. Also it is RYYB. The yellow diodes let in more light than traditional Green ones with bayer sensors. Then there is neural network and AI processing side. And probably a very high speed readout in some modes with multiple frame merges. Smartphones are leading the way for camera technology at the moment.

Well it does excel in quite a few departments. Full frame 4K/120p from a full pixel readout is unheard of at the moment from anything else this size or price. The autofocus is pretty much leading the way. The low light capabilities are also class leading. The weaknesses are few and far between. I've not been a huge fan of Sony lately, but credit where it's due.

It's been a long wait for the Sony A7S III. Maturity takes time. 5 years for Sonys cameras to develop into tools that feel like cameras. I never had the inspired feeling picking up a clinical Sony before. However the A7S III is a huge improvement... at a price. New blog post: https://www.eoshd.com/news/sony-a7s-iii-first-impressions/

Yes of course it's multiple frames at different exposes fused together. Tap the shutter button and it's done for you, by a neural network no-less, with AI. And certainly more than just 3 frames fused together, due to the speed of the sensor. The GFX 100 burst isn't fast enough for this to work. It does show that small, fast smartphone sensors can overcome shortcomings like dynamic range, with computational photography. They have never been able to beat a medium format camera, massive 44x33mm sensor with 100 megapixel before. The Huawei is the first to do this.

Same sensor but not the same processor.

It's out there! https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/afx-autofocus-adapter#/ https://www.eoshd.com/news/exclusive-cda-tek-announces-afx-module-for-lidar-autofocus-featuring-tilta-nucleus-motor-drive-and-blackmagic-pocket-cinema-camera-compatibility/ Congratulations to @BTM_Pix It looks superb and the example shot is silky smooth and natural looking.

iPhone 12 Pro Max - "ProRAW" and 5 axis IBIS
Andrew - EOSHD replied to Andrew - EOSHD's topic in Cameras
No it's the 12 Pro Max that has the most improved camera and 5 axis IBIS The 12 Pro and standard 12 are just very incremental improvements with small sensors. -
I sat down with my friend Dave Maze for a podcast recently. We talk about the origin of EOSHD 10 years ago, and the start of the DSLR video revolution, my filmmaking adventure in Berlin, recent controversies and edgy camera opinions. Big thanks to Dave for taking the time to let me ramble and for listing to my waffling! https://www.eoshd.com/news/eoshd-on-the-golden-hour-podcast-with-dave-maze-in-depth-interview/

Yes. It should appear when you click theme right at the foot of the page

iPhone 12 Pro Max - "ProRAW" and 5 axis IBIS

Erm. This is entirely wrong I'm afraid. 1/1.7" on the iPhone 12 Pro Max. The S20 Ultra has a larger sensor but it is pixel binned and frankly looks pretty dire compared to the closest Android rivals like Huawei P40 Pro and Mi 10 Pro (which uses the same sensor but pixel bins to a higher resolution 25MP with superior image processing and better quality 8K video). -
It means they are coronavirus super spreaders.
-
The 2 year wait for it shapes expectations as well.

I believe it is all 8bit internal, the 10bit is still reserved only for HDMI output. So no internal 10bit codec. It's one of the laziest half hearted re-releases I've ever witnessed. Sony going to be outselling them 10 to 1 at this rate.

Image thickness / density - help me figure out what it is
Andrew - EOSHD replied to kye's topic in Cameras
Also... For me a 'chunky' file is measured in the difference between, and the range, in just a single hue. Mashed colours with poor tonality scream 'thin' digital file to me.
