Hipster pretending to be a big shot artist
Andrew - EOSHD replied to Andrew - EOSHD's topic in Cameras
I still don't see the link with this topic. Easiest thing for me would be to kiss these camera industry writer's asses and reap the reciprocal links and quid-pro-quos. This video is one twat interviewing another in a circle jerk. I am not interested in that. I am infamous for not being interested in it. So what's Blackmagic got to do with it. You're saying I was butt hurt not being invited to try the new Pocket 4K when it came out? Damn right I was fucking pissed off. They deprived me of the chance to cover the new camera, because they knew I'd be honest about it. That's how PR works my friend. And they deprived all of you, the review too. And then I had to spend £1300 buying the potato just to see that it was in fact all I feared. And 6K situation was even worse. It didn't work properly and Blackmagic, rather than listen and sort it out, decided to berate me *in person* instead at IBC. Do I feel happy that a company who doesn't value me as a customer, and *before any falling out* decides to actively snub EOSHD as a long-time blog resource for Blackmagic, with a thread of 1.2m views on just one camera? No I don't. So what are you suggesting I do next then? Kiss their ass? Play the game? FFS get a clue. -
I have ZE version of it. Wonder if they're much different? Total gem between 50-70 in my experience with @BTM_Pix at the F1 A must have. Good to know thanks. Another one I was considering for mine. Are the corners decently sharp at F1.8 or muddy? Voigtlander 40mm F2.0 Ultron EF works better with no hard vignette. It vignettes massively unfortunately! Those 4 are the best I've tried. And the 55mm F1.7 of course. Interesting. Seem to remember mine vignettes quite a bit. The 55 1.2 Aspherical is the one to get. It's meh on the GFX. Nice on full frame. Please try to remember I have this over in Berlin, will try it. Contax Yashica version of 85 1.4 also works really beautifully. Thanks very useful. Nice collection of glass!!

Good luck. It's a Canon! Yes hope GH6 is still on. Been a while now since the GH5. Probably waiting for Sony to launch A7S III first. But for that to happen, Sony first have to pull it out the bin.

Ah I see. Those are very old adapters and low end. Kipon has come a long way since.
-
Clear zoom is useful for C-mount lenses on the Sony A7 series. Maintains a nice 4K image even in 2x crop mode. However for further than that you may as well crop in post. You start losing detail in-camera and in-post, so best to leave it as a last resort editing choice, rather than bake the longer shot into your footage.

Aperture ring on an EF adapter? 🤔
-
Pentax 67 adapts to Pentax 645 so you just buy that adapter tube, and stick it on the Kipon speed booster. So there is the Kipon full frame one for S1 and Nikon Z6... I have the Nikon version from them. And there is the monstrous GFX speed booster for Pentax medium format lenses too And that's the one I want next Kipon doing an amazingly wide range of adapters at the moment.

I left my Blackmagic on the old firmware to keep Cinema DNG. Can you roll back to old one if you install the latest? If so how do you find the old file? 120fps in 2.6K is a cropped window right? 75fps at 4096 x 1720 sounds great though. No time yet but seems good at first impressions. Battery compartment is a bit wobbly and build quality feels a bit cheap but it's a big step up from the single Canon battery in terms of capacity with the Sony FP-550s.

So far I find the image not a HUGE step up from 1D C, while very good in 4K and 5.5K RAW especially, the 1D C MJPEG 4K 8bit stands up well today. The 1080p is pretty naff and not any better than the original 1D X and 1D X II 120fps. No 4K crop though, and H.265 offers much more manageable file sizes. The 10bit is better for Canon LOG. I found myself with a lot of the recent mirrorless cameras 'hankering' for my 1D C. Not very rational! But I love the chunky DSLR build quality, OVF and the 1D C's thick chunky image, big files, amazing colour, so cinematic. Maybe the 1D X Mark III will be thought of in the same way once I've finished comparing it to the Sony A9, A7 III, Leica SL2 and Fuji X-T4. I'll have to keep giving it the benefit of the doubt for now. It replaces quite a lot of my stills cameras so may justify itself that way too. Don't forget to add £500 per 512GB CFexpress card to the price though.

No the Fringer adapter isn't a cheaper Metabones Speed Booster adapter. It is a very high quality autofocus adapter like the Sigma MC-11 or Metabones Smart AF adapter for E-mount. It does not have any glass in it so your 35mm lens on the X-T4's APS-C size 1.5x crop sensor has the field of view of a 50mm on full frame.
-
The punch in option is about 2x crop on the X-T4, so that is further into your prime than 1.5x crop on A7S II. If you have a 35mm wide angle lens on the A7S II you get 50mm in crop mode. On the X-T4 due to the smaller sensor compared to full frame, you'd need a wider lens than 35mm to get the same equiv. focal length to full frame. I.e. you'd need 24mm * 1.5x = 35mm The 2x crop mode this 24mm lens would become a 48mm FOV. So it's the same situation as the A7S II just different choice of lens. (Or the same choice of lens if you use a Speed Booster) Confused yet?

I need a map the size of Texas to work that link out. Blackmagic not inviting me to what? A video conference call on Zoom? I am free to have an opinion on certain people in the industry. Doesn't make me a poser. -
Something like the Pentax 67 105mm F2.4 would be very nice on the Kipon speed booster, but you are still a bit limited in terms of choice of glass compared to all the full frame stuff. 85mm F1.4 tends to cover the 44 x 33 very well and with edge to edge sharpness at F2.0 So there is a limit to what the Speed Booster can do to better that. I'm still keen to give one a try though. How much are they?

So going back to the original topic. DPReview forum mod locked and censored posts with photos of anti-racism protests. You could ask yourself why? And what do you think about that? On the front page, the headline about the police targeting photo journalists was misleading. In the article, the photographer had their lens broken by a protester. Do you think this is acceptable - to vilify the police and then use two completely false examples of police brutality? Americans need to start questioning more. No. And by the way, I am not a "rabid liberal" whatever that is. I have a mixture of complicated views, some of them socially liberal, some of them agreeing with Joe Rogen's podcast a lot of the time, some of them fiscally conservative, it's a big old mix. This is why it is so stupid we are putting people into tribes of far left and far right. It is way more complex. However, capitalism selects for extremes so this is the result. A fading away of any middle ground, and two tribes battling it out for supremacy and control.

The first thing I am filming is to do a codec test vs the latest 10bit LOG cameras like X-T4 and to figure out whether the codec in the Blackmagic is actually worth losing so much other functionality for.

foto leistenschneider in Charlottenburg and the other one in Friedenau. They have some nice used stuff sometimes but Foto Max and Foto Braune are the kings IMO

Richard Butler is the last good writer at DPReview (in my opinion) He makes some interesting points here https://***URL removed***/articles/9433714188/let-it-roll-why-camera-makers-are-going-to-keep-adding-video/1 But we shouldn't see something as a video camera just because it has a good video mode and good codec. The Sigma Fp for example, was described at DPReview in their review as a video camera! As if the stills side doesn't exist. People not quite figured out that a hybrid camera means it is a stills camera if you're a stills shooter and a video camera if you're a video shooter and both if you're both. It's all about versatility. PS. Nikon Df leaving out video altogether didn't win them a single sale but lost them thousands. PPS. Fuji X-Pro 3 needs a video record Fn button, in a firmware update, and another Fn button to quickly toggle between stills and video mode. Even on a stills orientated body like that, it doesn't win Fuji any fans hiding 10bit 4K in a sub-menu of the Drive options.

Here is the ZOOM MASTER! No vignette. Here is the Minolta A mount 85mm F1.4. Truly beautiful with the larger sensor. In full frame terms, the image is a 68mm F1.1 with that. If we really want to get into Kubrick NASA territory though we pop the Canon FD 85mm F1.2L on there. 68mm F0.95 I think I have that right anyway. * 0.8x vs full frame?! Or is it even larger? (44 x 33) Oh yeah forgot about that. I want one! However the fast sensors on medium format compared to P645 glass really give you the "even larger" sensor look anyway. F4 on speed booster on 44 x 33 or full frame F1.2 on 44 x 33? The F1.2 would look more 3D I think.

Anybody want to die of boredom? Bet you can't make it through to the end. I dare you... try 😂

I also have a £10 lens that works. Sigma Master Zoom! I think it's from the 80's, in Minolta MD mount. It doesn't vignette. It was in a bargain bin outside a Berlin shop, with stuff so rubbish that they couldn't even get it nicked. The shop eventually just said, here, have it... free. I think it goes for around £10 on eBay.
