Field of view equivalent for anamorphic lenses

How do you compute the lens with the equivalent field of view when using anamorphic lenses?

If I have a 50mm lens and put a 1.33x anamophic adaptor does it mean that the lens with the equivalent FOV is a 37mm (50mm/1.33)?!

I figure it has to be more complicated than that.
