he did not test om1 mk ii vs gh 7. for others, gh 7 seems the best.

any z mount cams have a s16 crop mode? especially aps-c z mount cams?

canon cinema line is designed for handheld shooting. I tried many different configurations. once you mount a big zoom lense, and a zacuto top handle and a zacuto base plate, the rig is too heavy to hand hold. it is only for tripod. in that case, other cameras are better, like f3. now I set one of my c300 ogs with an efs 10-18 stm is, I don't use the top handle and the xlr lcd unit at all. I put on a small battery based mike with 3.5 mm plug in. I put on a rail based v mount mini battery to power the nano flash. I use the evf as one contacting point, the v mount battery against my chest as another contact point. my left hand hold the buttom of the c300 og, use the left thumb to touch the hard buttons at the left side, and use the right hand to hold the grip, the right index finger to touch the start button, and the right thumb to touch the nipple and the button 7 which I set as the af lock. I use continuous af as this c300 og unit has the dpaf upgrade. the footage looks very stable.

does z6 iii have s16 mode? z mount is shorter than c mount.

I hope that next year Panasonic releases a $2000 s5 3, full frame 8k sensor, 60 fps electronic shutter, 200 raw buffer depth. I will pull the trigger on this one.

this makes sense. $500 for a new gh6 is a different story from a gh6 at $2000, even the af is bad, dr booster is not stable.

one of the best camera introduction videos. fuji should hire him to promote the cameras. I feel that the still photos in the video are much more eye catching than the video clips.
-
where can you find gh6 at $600? I cannot find any?
-
actually on Vimeo I watched a thorough test comparing c200 and c100 mk2. they have the same image quality. c200's major strength is 4k raw. it took me some time to tune the c100 mk2. once optimized, it is as sharp as GoPro 12's 5k, or r1mx, epic-x, etc. I cannot tell difference from a 4k monitor at less than one meter of viewing distance. this is more demanding than in a commercial theatre.

c100 mk ii is very good in terms of ergonomics. probably the best for hand held shooting. it is a 4k sensor so its resolution is ok even by today's standard. it is 60p 28 mbps so if doing 60p, quick actions are fine. the files are tiny, good for my hard drives. it has in built nd, and back up sd recording, and xlr top handle if needed. dpaf is fine for stm is lenses for basic modes. I like it very much.

wow. c400 is full frame? this is great. $8000 is ok. who will buy a c300 mk3 then?
-
yeh. if your starting point is 135 full frame which has an area of 862 mm2, m43 is 25% of a full frame, at 224 mm2, now in gh7's 4k raw mode, the sensor is another 1.4 crop, 50% of the m43, so the final area in this mode is about 110 mm2, which is almost a s16 sensor, almost exactly an 1-inch sensor.
-
if gh7 has a firmware update of aria log c3 uncompressed prores4444. gh7 will sell like a hot cake. lol.
-
probably c400 s16 mode can do almost uhd 4k, as its s35 mode is 6k.
-
interesting, if c400 can do s16 4k raw, it will be better than gh7, as c400 has built in nd filters. yeh, the price tag is 4 times, guess related to 4 nd filters. lol.

this is big wish and fits well with the video shooting.

it is true that m43 still has its niche. full frame mirrorless body like s5 2x can be the same as gh7, but the lenses can not be as small. so the size savings on the camera do not contribute much to the whole rig. I actually think full frame mirrorless should be like canon r1 or Nikon z9, just like the dslr canon 1 series. of course, there are small light full frame mirrorless like Sony r1x, which has its niche. but m43 can also be very small if doing the same thing as the r1x.

gh7's 4k prores or mp4 suppose to be oversampled from the full frame m43 sensor's 5.7k. gh7's 4k raw is 1x1 pixel by pixel mode. it is not oversampled. it is less detailed than the 5.7k raw. but the c4k raw is prores raw hq, 5.7k raw is prores raw. so the c4k raw has less compression. so it may not be much worse than the 5.7k raw. a little bit worse, maybe.

if you still keeps the s16 kern or Angie lenses, very possibly this gh7 will work, but without infinity focusing.
-
I adapted a cooke 75mm f4 s16 lens to a nikon 1 v1 with a 1 inch sensor. works fine, no vignette at all. maybe wide angle s16 will see vignette on a 1-inch sensor. I doubt about it though, as it is 95 mm2 vs 110 mm2. most branded lenses have image circle a little bit larger than their native formats. some famous lenses like Leica lenses, are actually reaching medium format image circle sizes. so I think s16 lenses on gh7's dci 4k crop mode, even wide angle ones, will be fine. if no need for infinity, c mount is fine.

https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/panasonic-gh7-initial-review Video The GH7's headline video feature is support for internal ProRes RAW recording, including both ProRes RAW and ProRes RAW HQ, using the camera's CFexpress card (or a USB-C SSD). ProRes RAW provides extra flexibility in post-processing, including the ability to adjust white balance and exposure offsets. ProRes RAW can be captured at either 5.7K resolution in a 17:9 aspect ratio using the entire width of the sensor or at the standard DCI 4K resolution (4096 x 2160) up to 60p, which results in a 1.41x crop. according what I read on the dpreview, the dci 4k of gh7 is 1.4 crop of the m43, m43 is 224 mm2, 1.4 crop is 50% of the area of the m43, so the dci 4k crop mode is 110-120 mm2, this is basically 1 inch or s16. I think s16 is 95 mm2, 1 inch is 110 mm2. there are some 1 inch lenses at c mount or Nikon 1 mount. if no need to reach infinity, these lenses can be adapted to gh7 too.
