  1. I'm shooting with an LX100 and FZ1000 atm, but I'm a bit surprised they're so low on the lists. I feel like I have most of what I need to shoot covered yet I can't help but consider if I should sell and go for a G7. I hear good things about the G7 for the price. With the LX100 to cover lower light conditions and FZ1000 for range and slo-mo (and both having auto zoom via rocker nub or wireless control), it seems almost redundant to start over again. I do know that I will be able to invest in particular lenses and even go forth with a speedbooster in the future, handle greater lower light conditions and maybe less noise image patterns overall... still. While I can't make much for comparison, any advice from those who have handled all these cameras would be of help.
  2. Kinda on subject with cinematography and the like, did anyone notice the focus pulls felt a tad too quick? I'm not sure if my eyes deceive me, but there seemed to be a lot of focus breathing going on too. It's quite a pleasing aesthetic overall, just several quirks here and there in particular for me, but you can't please everyone.
  3. Didn't Philip Bloom post something about this several years back with HDTVs? I find the artificial 60fps more nauseous than anything. All this "TruMotion" crud can just be disabled, but it's funny how companies feel the need to make it a main feature. It's probably true that it works great for sports... and nothing else.
  4. Thanks Beny! Realized I can just drop the file into LUT Utility through System preferences. Anyways, the LUT works fantastic! In combination with the Alexa LUT, it makes for some natural and pleasing colors! It's been a pain getting consistent good colors out of the LX100, but this definitely helps a lot!
  5. Hey Skiphunt, you should check this one out that impressed me recently. I've been doing a lot of tests myself and I can tell you this camera can take really beautiful footage when done right. I'm still looking for the sweet spot in settings....
  6. B also has quite a bit of color fringing from the barcode where as A does not. I'd be surprised for a RAW still to have that over a video screen grab.
  7. A is RAW, B is video. There's definitely a lot more detail and sharpness to the upper left, where the barcode is :P
  8. The FZ1000 seems to lack 1080 at 24p... at least in MP4 format. I'd say AVCHD is usable option, but for me it isn't. That's the only bummer I have about the camera seeing as AVCHD is not a good codec to work with in the first place, and as I have a Macbook, it's practically hell. Other than that, it's a versatile camera. Cinelike D, Zoom Range, Mic input, flip screen. Both seem to have it's own advantages. Definitely, the two cameras pair up quite nicely for a budget combo. If Sony fails to offer anything similar early next year (but crossing fingers for a a6000 successor at a competitive price range though), I know the next camera I'll bet getting for my setup.
  9. Very timely indeed! I just got my Fz1000, and am enjoying it so far. Image quality is as good as I had expected for the price. The cropping in 4k is not as bad as I had thought and the wide end is decent enough. Been testing the wifi capabilities as well, and the Panny app that connects to your phone makes for a terrific combo setup and usable for low profile monitoring. But is anyone getting a noticable motor noise from the camera consistently? It's actually a bit distracting and I thought initally there was a problem with the camera. Another issue I have is the flickering in zoom. Even when I set the aperture to 4.0 to get a consistent aperture, it still flickers when I zoom. Is there something in the menu that solves this? I know the Canon c100 had a function you could turn on that alleviated this problem, but I don't believe this type of feature is in any hybrid cameras.
