The client and the cinema projections says 24,00p. No 23,98, no 23,976, nothing else. Since Sony statet out it is 24p (while they are mentionin 23,97 as 23p on their website) I thought the camera cna support also perfect 24p cinema standard like the gh4, that also can handle 23,97 / 24,00 / 25,00 / 29,97 Native ISO is 800 as I understood. I would go up to 1600 and maybe 3200 since the cpu is very good. But the chip is only 1". Have you been able to get a better display quality in Av Mode when shooting in low light conditions? It looks like to me the display is switching to SD resolution yes no doubt. but what I dont understand why in Av mode DMF + MF is controlling the focus and why in video mode it drives the zoom in DMF. Looks pretty unlogical to me. When you are going to shoot pictures in AV you need to switch back from MF to DMF becouse otherwise you have focus zoom in on the display. I whished that the controls would be more logicla and intuitive like on the GH4....

they all want perfect 24p I understand that for US it doesnt matter, but to me it matters if it is 23,97 or 24p I cant understand why Sony does advice that the cam can shoot 24p, when it doesnt. the gh4 can handle it perfectly too, and I suppose other Sony cams can also do perfect 24p it's a pain.... for video you need to switch to MF, caus in DMF it still runs the zoom, while in Af Mode you can either use DMF or MF to focus. In my opinion, focus peaking and the display does work really BAD

the monitor of the RX10 has serious issues when in High ISOs in Av Mode... You can't see anything other than a lot of noise. It is really strange, it seems to affect only the preview on the monitor, becouse the image is almost clean I could... but wouldn it be better if the Sony shoots at perfect 24 fps like the GH4? Unfortunately also the export from Vegas to XAVC is only at 23,97.... really unhappy about this... you need to wrap it into a mainconcept AVC or X264 file to get proper 24p

My cleint is requesting perfect 24p since we are in Europe and he want to deliver it for EU + US also for conema spots you need 24p

I deliver client projects in 24p and not 23,97 NTSC

Hi Andrew Have you been able to set the camera up to shoot REAL 24p? Cause mine RX10 II shoots only 23,976 in NTSC Mode.... Im really unhappy about this.... would be glad to get any workaround.... thanks

Yes a good point... I understand Panasonic thought at the drone flyers, especially when thinking at DJI which can carry up to 8kg... but we have some law regulations here in Europe that makes hughe problems if you fly over 4kg. and at moment there is no way to geht the GH4 in a flying drone withouth costing special permissions. But just think how many are using gimbals today for steady shots... or using an external monitor to find the best FOV & Focus point... so HDMI would be very necessary

Have you every tried the Lumix App.. its such crap on smartphones... you need hughe tablets to see something. Panasonic have not understand that there is something called overlay menus not only for cameras, but also for Android apps... I hope they change it there was a freak developer that want to do a fullscreen app, but no updates yet how far he is...

Maybe togheter we are able to move Panasonic in doing something. I think if they get HDMI, they dont need to worry any other compact camera coming in 2015

sorry but I dont agree at all with you. if people want to crash and claim warranty, than they could also do it with the GH4. I would be happy if Panasonic has advertised the cam as foto only with 4k feature, but for Photokina they produced a lot of SEPCIAL 4k video stuff to show how well the camera performs for film making. and they also explained clearly that hdmi out is a feature only of the GH Series, wich they want to keep at higher level. We have spoken with the German PM and he also said he sees a really need in this but also the HEadquarter just don't want to integrate it, while they could and also the camera would be able with no problem to perform it. Sure you can use it for crap aerial imaging, but if you want to go serious you need live feed out, which most dji phantom + perform and is also a really havy feature of the new dji inspire... I mean, would you film or make fotos from ground withouth even looking on the screen? Or do you also prefer to see what your camera is going to see? sure you can also run in the citiy keeping the camera away from your eyes and continuosly press the shutter... and maybe you have 1 or 2 good pictures out of 1000, but imagine how much better pictures you could get when you looking on the monitor....

but why should it be a problem for the camera to give out HDMI... they already use LVDS digital port and they have some kind of coprocessor to reduce the video res to some kind of HD so that you can see it on the screen, so its already a postprocessed image that you see with overlays. why not just make a pass through the hdmi out... ok it's not 4k, but everyone and especially drone users would be happy. Instead of this, no one is going to purchase the LX100 and all are waiting for the new sony alphas coming in January... and sorry, your thought in using a second FPV camera is totally wrong... it seems you haven't been really in touch with drones. the second camera for fpv is mentioned for the pilot to see & avoid that the drone crash in tree or somewhere else, while the assistant can use the main camera on gimbal to make the perfect shot... how will you be able what your lx100 is filming using a secondary camera that doesnt have the same DOF & FOV? makes no sense... so Panasonic is loosing a lot of customers that if happy, would probably also purchase a GH4...

sure I understand you in this and I agree... but there was not so many talking about the HDMI and I thought this is a beta issue... becouse for what do I put a HDMI on a camera like this, that in the menu is capable of giving out 4k in 422, when no signal comes out at all and only the AV-Out in 480p works in playback mode... o probably they expect that customers purchase a panasonic viera (viera link) so that you can use the HDMI? than it#s better they completely leave away that fucking special usb port (wich no one needs) and also leave away hdmi out. make camera 100 bucks cheaper & smaller and all are happy. but manufacturing tools that can't be used at all is a really shame. I mean, this was Canon style to do it... not Panasonic

He seems to be a Panasonic angel, but when it needs to get any serious feedback, he never reply (also not on emails regarding the purchase of his user guides...) Comon Andrew, you are the best chance to help us in being more happy with the LX100. Please help us. I pay for your phone call + your time lost....

sorry but it does not make sense to have a 4k camera on the drone where you don't see any image that it will take... and where is the sense to put a FHD small fpv camera on it? The LX100 is at moment the best compact 4k kamera on the market, I have it, but it will NEVER EVER be used on drones as long as it has no video out signal while recording... or how do you think you'll be able to see what your gimbal does in 100m distance? and for sure I can speak for all drone flyers that want to have 4K on a drone and can't carry a gh4 due to law regulations (drone under 5 kg in total). So if Panasonic here is doing the same policy as Canon, this will be my last Panasonic that I purchase... it seems that also the German Panasonic PM want this feature, but the Headquarte will NOT integrate it... why, they don't tell you so to recap this: LX100 is great, but its not suitable on drones... so this part needs to be canceled. I purchased the camera just becouse I saw Andrews good review, and now Im really angry that I can't use this camera for aerial 4k footage...

Andrew you mentioned in your article that the LX100 is the best 4K small camera for aerial imaging. As I have mentioned in my post it is not as long as Panasonic does lock the AV & HDMI Out. So there is 2 things you could do: 1. change your article & mention that the LX100 does not work for aerial 2. or ask Panasonic and make pressure on them to change this in a fw update. We all know that the LX100 could do a HDMI out since it is the same engine like GH4... Im fine if the output is only 720p and with overlays, but we need a signal on the ground or the LX100 WILL NEVER be used for Aerial images on drones... So I tested the LX100 on real business this days. It performs pretty well, the sharpness is extraordinary but the focus pumps a lot if objects moves... so it is better to go manual. If you set the picture stile to superflat and raise shadows, the pics are astonishing good in 4K, in my opinion far better than GH4... the LX100 gives more natural colors, skin tones are better... but im still not able to get any video out of this camera... I purchased the AV adpater, but nothing... has anyone of you been able to get a video out signal?

I even tryed the super thin Cullmann CX420 no way to get it mounted and be able to access battery... this is a holy crap thta Panasonic did... and if you put the plate complete on one side, the camera doesnt stand leveled... a shame Is there any way to get a cinelike D profile....? and what about an AV out cable, there is no one in the package...

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarg again Panasonic did something wrong. I did rent it tooo, and this shit tripod hole is totally close to the battery case... what di panasonic think when doing this stupid stuff... everytime completely taking down all tripod mounts or quick reles plates.... the only thing you can do is completely remove the battery plate

I see no hw limitation in getting out a HD feed from HDMI, since the hw is the same as on the gh4... I could understand if the vidoe out is not 4K 12bit, but that the hdmi out is completely off is a really shame... this is sw limitation that make no sense... there would be a lot of LX100 already flying it if they would not hat locked this... how do you know what your camera is filming, if you are completely blind... Im really really angry... pana is now making same stuff like Canon. I would be fine with infrared trigger, gut at moment panasonic is not supported at all...

an whats about this HDMI or Video out.... any update? Is there any ext. device to trigger the cam when mounted on a drone?

Dear Andrew Thank you for your review... Im following you since long time and I was also waiting for the LX100. I was, as GH4 user, quite bevore to purchase the LX100 exactly for aerial filming... but I stopped when I saw there is no HDMI Out... you are mentioning it as a good camera for aerial purpose... also as I thought too.. good sensor, good lens, stabilizer... but you can't get any video feed out and you can't trigger this camera at all... so there is no way, that this camera can be used for aerial stuff, since you can't see what the camera is recording... im working since a few months on new drones... and no one could find a way to get the LX100 working for this... this is really a shame... since it would be the best camera if it just had a video feed out... it's fine if its only 1080p... Can you please aks panasonic to implement this in the next fw update? thanks
