Yeah this is actually a pretty big deal. The tide is turning and Adobe are doing really well right now. Apple fucked Final Cut and Avid have major problems on their hands with Media Composer running like garbage compared to the competition.

This is the smallest problem in the world, it will take you 2 seconds to adjust. Seriously.

Not implementing 24p is pretty dumb and kinda defeats the purpose. Hopefully they change that for US folks.

I understand being disappointed but it goes far beyond that from time to time, almost like Canon OWE them something. With Metabones and others making adapters the lens investment isn't wasted anyway. Move on and make stuff with what is out there. Compared to 10 years ago we are living in a dream land. Shoot!

So go buy a Sony A7s or a GH4. I honestly don't understand why people are so upset over what Canon are doing or not doing when there are plenty of AMAZING cameras out there that you can buy right now. Canon is, was and always will be a company for photographers. That's all theres is to it.

Canon will always put photographers first, once you realise this you will sleep easier. There are plenty of options out there for you to choose for video including their Cinema EOS line.

Pretty sure it's just the grabbing of a frame as a photo in the ratio you want from video, not actually filming in that ratio. But I could be wrong!

There is no chance of them going extinct and with this they will take even more business away from RED.

Any news on picture profiles? I'm not too familiar with this line of cameras. Will we be able to get a somewhat flat image for grading?

The Leica versions usually have different/better menu and firmware also.
