  1. 25 fps does not match 60 Hz monitor any better than 24 fps. therte is no reason for either really for youtube content.
  2. People who need 24p can afford cameras that have it. 24p truly is no match for 60 Hz monitors. I would be happy if 24p would one day be gone from internet, but much more likely that I have 120 Hz monitor before that happens and then it does not matter anymore.
  3. After reading this https://www.eoshd.com/2018/09/why-i-wont-be-buying-the-upcoming-blackmagic-pocket-cinema-camera-4k/ I can only smile and had to come here to ask, is this a kindergarten :)
  4. For gimbal installations they should make that handle removable with extension cable or wireless connection.
  5. To fly maybe not, that would be a really big drone but to install on gimbal, no problem, here is BMMSC with a 3kg + lens on a gimbal.
  6. I wonder that handle, is the camera really able to take it if lifting from it? well it is badly out of balance anyway.
  7. That looks a bit different and out of the box but confortable so does this and would handle the BMMPC4K just perfectly even with big lenses.
  8. Do not know about this camera, but on Micro cameras, the air is not blown to the electronics, just to the cooling element and then out.
  9. They always do that, but the Micro cameras at least have been working also well on cold. Kind of a reguirement here in Finland
  10. I think this is a perfect camera to replace my old and well served GH4 and it will also get a perfectly tailored gimbal. The only thing where GH4 maybe is better is the weather shielding, that has been handy for few times.
  11. It is interesting, but not sure what it is I really hope there would be HDMI and/or SDI to Smart phone adapter. That would get me long way, RED or not.
  12. If someone would provide low latency HDMI/SDI adapter to phone... Yep, I love the BMD Micro cameras
  13. BMMSC is pretty awesome especially for the size. Is this creative, probably not, it was just to demonstrate what is possible with such a small camera, it is operating the camera system with one hand and driving with other
  14. Thanks, excellent and informative writeup. I have an old 5DII, maybe I should test... How is the workflow after the capture to get it to editing SW like FCPX? Is there a way to get good HDMI video out from 5D II to use external recorder?
  15. Some more videos with the XC10 on LeViteZer 360 gimbal For more see http://www.levitezer.com/blog/
  16. I was trying to find that, but did not. When now trying to find how it could have been changed, I only find "Specifications are given for PAL version of the camera. NTSC version available in appropriate regions" http://www.canon.co.uk/for_home/product_finder/digital_cinema/cinema_eos_cameras/xc10/specification.aspx
  17. The LeViteZer 360 gimbal was originally developed for 360 video cameras but works nice on other setups too. Tested with Canon XC10 at sea, installed on monopod. No post stabilisation used, but experimented with different in camera stabilisations. Big thanks for Canon Finland for loaning the XC10. Ps. I like this camera a lot, but there is one downside, I could not find 30 fps on this camera ? only 25 and 50 fps, maybe I missed something?
  18. It is what it is, that seems to be Canon approach, they are not much listening. Looking the canon lineup it makes much sense, looking the competition, not sure but it still has potential to be a pretty good camera. Perfect for film making, not, especially not when looking what else is available, but maybe for some situations when weather sealing is needed, when 4k is not needed, when wide angle is not needed. 1.74x crop, if it provides better rolling shutter performance etc. I rather take it than FF. The video codec is disappointing, Mini HDMI is disappointing, no 4k over HDMI is disappointing.... but it is what it is.
  19. Thanks, there is some jitter because of the heavy wind hitting the lens, this video is with sound, it was quite heavy wind. ( there is no post processing on this video) BTW, the boat is about 6 km away, it is 3 degrees horizontal FOV. The video below was taken walking in forrest with the same setup, there was some jitters but used FCPX inertia cam with default settings
  20. I was making some Gimbal tuning tutorials and decided to test something a bit different, it turned out to work surprisingly well, or what do you think?
  21. I doubt many would see the difference between 24 fps on 24 Hz monitor, 25 fps on 25 Hz monitor or even 30 fps on 30 Hz or 60 Hz monitor. However for me 24 fps on 60 Hz monitor is just terrible experience. 24 fps on 24 Hz monitor is for me just fine. I do not think I am alone with this, but apparently not everyone is sensitive for 24 fps on 60 Hz monitor. It is not a question about the frame rate but about frames shown for uneven time to fit 24 fps to 60 Hz monitor. 120 Hz monitor would solve the problem. with 120 Hz monitor at 24 fps each frame would be shown 5 times, at 30 fps each frame would be shown 4 times, there would be no misalignment of the speed, no ugliness on panning and fast movement and all frames would be shown for the same length of time. Unfortunately most computer monitors are just 60 Hz. At 60 Hz monitor, when viewing 24 fps, some frames are shown for 33.3 ms, some for 50 ms when they all should be shown for 41.7 ms, I do not much care of that kind of unnatural appeal. Ps. to answer the questions on the headline "NAB 2016. Can Ang Lee’s cinematic reality of laser projected 3D 120fps make 24p film obsolete?" 24 fps film should play back just beautifully with that projector, so it is at least backward compatible.
  22. I am still listening LP, I think CD will die before LP. Why should 24 fps die, traditional movies will remain for long. 3D video, 360 Video, VR, I do not think they will replace traditional film, they are something different. I hope though 24, 25, 50 fps would be replaced by 30 and 60 fps. 30 fps and 60 fps are much better suited for computer monitors that usually run at 60 Hz.
  23. I would be so happy to say good bye for 24 fps, especially on material distributed on internet. 24 fps just irritates me a lot when viewed on 60 Hz monitor, any fast movements are very jittery. 30 fps would be big improvement on material mostly viewed on Internet.
  24. Interesting, I have been waiting for sensors that work like human eye, with high sensitivity W dots, but did not know there is already such displays. Wonder though why they give the unmeaning-full and I think misleading 5M dots, instead giving that it is a new type of display....
