If I understand things right, when comparing 4K to ETC you're looking at noise being averaged among 4 pixels versus 1:1 using ETC. So it makes sense that 4K appears to have less noise - even at 2x.

An inexpensive way to test out your condensation theory (which is more likely than scratches, imo) is to seal the cam in a bag of uncooked rice. Another alternative is to seal it in something with Pelican Desiccant Silica Gel ($10). Looks great. So you're using Andrew's CineV settings, but have turned the master pesdestal down to 0. Would be interested in getting Andrew's feedback on changing the pedestal setting. Also, if he has any additional thoughts on settings since having first released his GH4 Guide. And will there be any updates to the guide? Thanks.
