Hey Andy Lee, if you were looking at getting a collection of manual lenses and only wanted to purchase one speed booster (so only one brand of lens) which would you go for and what would be your favs.

Received my Linco Flora lighting in time for my shoot. They were excellent. I own a light meter for studio work which I also used to adjust the cameras for the video shoot. Shot at f5.6, iso400. They are quick to set up due to the umbrella styled soft box, screwing in the globes is the time consuming part. They take between 10-15 minutes to cool down enough to pack up which isn't too bad, you just start packing up everything else first.

Jazzbox ... I find watts confusing also in regard to brightness for camera work. If you click on the link in my post above yours you can get an idea of brightness of these 85 watt CFL globes (go to the table about half way down) Note the 85 watts for a CFL globe is different to a normal globe so you need to take that into account for whatever you are looking at. Maybe this can be of some help. He is using six globes in a soft box.

Another review of the Linco Flora lights. There is a 'Flora Light Distance Chart' about half way through the review that shows ISO, F/stop etc http://www.lightingrumours.com/flora-light-best-continuous-fluorescent-lighting-system-926#.VF1tAUvL5Fw Miraud - I expect a white balance before shooting would fix white balance problems? I don't think I want to work with hot lights. I think these could also be useful for stills photography with m43 gear (good DOF)

Doing a talking head in a couple of weeks and I don't own any lighting. Hoping I won't need any but as I'm unsure of the lighting at one place (which is a distance away) I think it best I have some lights in case they are needed. I have been doing some homework. Looking at the Yongnou YN-160, YN300 and YN600 for battery operated or looking at the following (see link) but I have no idea how bright they are as it talks only in watts and I want f/stops, shutter speed and iSO. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/301379488501?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Does anyone have any idea of how bright these will be? Are they any good? Would the Yongnou be brighter/better? Something else (not too expensive please) Couldn't seem to find posts on lighting so if there is one point the direction. As I'm shooting m43 I'm thinking I could work with f4, 1/50 and would like to keep the ISO reasonable. Andy had suggested Red Heads but I would rather not have hot lights. Thanks for helping.

Andy, I may have the opportunity to pick up some Nikkor manual lenses. Haven't seen them yet so don't know exact names of them Looking at these for m43 video Nikkor 24mm f2.8 Nikkor 35mm f1.2 Nikkor 50mm f1.4 Is there a speed booster that can be used with these manual Nikkor lenses? Also, if these are in good condition, how much would they be worth? Glad to have someone so knowledgeable to ask questions about older lenses.

When purchasing older lenses how does everyone check for fungus? I know that just looking directly through the lens does not show fungus, need to light from the side to see it. Any other tips? Would anyone purchase a lens with a minute amount of fungus or definitely don't touch? Will fungus transfer to the camera sensor from a lens? Thanks

I'm not sure that this is the right spot for this post but couldn't seem to find a better location for the problem. I am using an OMD EM5 and recording at the highest level. I import the full size file into iMovie and edit in 30fps The blacks and dark colours look fine when editing and playing in iMovie When I export to Quicktime the blacks and dark colours go blocky and lose detail. The linked video was exported to Quicktime at 720p and uploaded to Vimeo (also notice this video has a black edge around it (odd)). If I upload directly using share I still have the same problem but here is something interesting. After no success with the Quicktime 720p method I decide to do the direct share again instead to compare uploads … no difference accept the black edge was gone. When I went back to view the video in iMovie using the full screen playback it now had all that blocking on it also. To get it back to normal I had to edit a clip and it was gone. So using direct share actually affects the movie file in iMovie until you re-edit it. Here is a short work I have just completed that displays the problem I am having. https://vimeo.com/96366686 NOTE: Swapped video to the one uploaded directly with Share Vimeo to remove black boarders. How do I fix this? Is it because its the EM5 and something to do with the Codec? Would a Panasonic G6 solve this? I saw Andrews EM5 night movie and I didn't see this occur on his clips. I'm new to video editing and purchased Vimeo Plus just recently to have better loading times etc and because I had seen so many videos with music clips used in them. I'm moving towards doing wedding videos so the music that was played at the wedding is a big part of the video clip. They purchased the music to play it at the wedding ... I paid and downloaded it from iTunes to put with the video. As usual with this type of video, friends and family will view it and the bride and groom and a few others will most likely download it. Nobody is paying to view the video or to download it. It's not the music that is making people come to view it it's the content of the video. I do hope to get paid for creating the video but I see that as payment for my time spent shooting the footage and editing. I'm just trying to replicate the day for them. It's a pity the artists couldn't be the ones deciding this. I wonder how many would be quite happy for their music to be used in this manner.

Loved your footage with the EM5 Andrew. Smooth and jerk free. I have the EM5 and want to use it more for video but find it jerky even on smooth pans with a video head. I'm editing in imovie so I'm wondering if that breaks down the codec on upload etc. I come from a photography background to all this codec talk is very confusing. If I purchase FCP will that stop the jerky playback? Is that where the problem lies? I am using the HD 1080 Fine for recording. Noticed another person on this thread recommended HD 1080 Normal which they thought helped blocking. I noticed your blacks are smooth and I find mine all patchy. Again I'm thinking it's due to the editing program but I just don't know for sure. Could everyone who is successfully using the EM5 for video please share you em5 camera settings for video and your workflow. Thank to all.

New to this forum so a big hello to everyone. I am wanting to get into video - currently do stills photography. Current cameras are m43 OMD EM5 and an EM1 (sold all my canon gear). I did my first movie last weekend with the EM1. Editeding in iMovie 11 until I decide on something better maybe Final Cut Pro? Recommendations? I will be doing short videos of up to about 10 minutes finished but more likely 5 minutes. I realise the EM1 is not the best video camera from all the reading I have done on the net so far, and I am considering getting the Panasonic G6 if I need to down the track (understand it has very good specs for video) but the Olympus IBIS is a great feature and I have a good range of lenses (samyang 7.5 fisheye, oly 45 1.8, oly 75 1.8, panny 25 1.4, oly 12-40 2.8, panny 35-100 2.8) First, I would really appreciate it if someone could give me a link to sites that help me to understand all the codec and shooting speeds for video e.g. 24p, 60p etc etc. All the stuff I need to get up to speed. I have search for the last 2 days and really can't seem to come up with much information that spells it all out to a newbie. Secondly, can someone advise me the best way to set up the EM1 for video At this time I want to use the EM1 (with the correct video settings) and iMovie to edit until I need to move forward. Should I upload the video to iMovie as the full file for better outputting results to dvd etc or use the large setting? It it better to export out of iMovie to the desktop for vimeo and if so which is the best output selection (medium, large, HD 720p, HD 1080p)? I burned a DVD using share/idvd in iMovie but this was terrible. Then exported out of iMovie to HD720p and dropped into iDVD. This was much better but still shows a little moire. Any better suggestions for burning DVD's. Appreciate any help. Maria

Check your camera for the current firmware (Menu/Spanner/Firmware) There was a very recent update adding ISO LOW and a small focusing box The Olympus site will have the 'downloader' program you will need to update the firmware. Should only take less than 5 minutes with a good connection. Cheers
