  1. Obviously, that was released after my post. I'll let you guys beta-test that update!
  2. Yeah, I'm excited for the update as well, but I'm glad to see it isn't out yet, because I'm thinking Samsung is addressing more fixes for the NX1 that many users are experiencing. At least that's my hope!
  3. I just tested iffmpeg and on my 4 year old iMAC i7 a 42 second 3840 - 4K clip took 11 minutes. Another thing I'm wondering is the H.265 codec is suppose to be 1/4 the size of H.264 I believe, so this 42 second clip is 406MB, can that be right? I guess it has to be because that's what it is, man that seems gigantic for such a short clip. Converted to ProRes LT is 2.25GB. Massive!
  4. No, you're not paranoid. I wouldn't doubt the advertising mole. I guess that's one way of finding out what people think about your workshops. No big deal.
  5. Switch to a 64GB card, and my bet that will change things. Why do I think that? I haven't a clue, but it sounds good!
  6. Perhaps a slightly over enthusiastic opinion of this camera, as it's way to early to tell exactly where it stands, but I personally wouldn't call his article a joke, even if I do own the camera. There is no denying, this is the most technically advanced mirror less camera on the market. Although not perfect, because nothing is, it offers a tremendous amount of lee-way for development by an absolute powerhouse that is Samsung. In my own opinion, this is the camera I've been looking for, true it has some major flaws that need to be worked out, but if Samsung's forth coming update is any indication of how they will stand behind this product, I'm all in.
  7. I definitely don't blame you on that Ivar. I tested my NX1 a lot more today and I definitely don't have an exposure drift. Now, that's with an old 135mm Soligor adapted to this camera, so things might change with a Samsung attached, although I'm thinking of sticking with all manual lenses with this camera. It's such a nice camera, I've never been a stills photographer, but snapping pics with this thing is joyful, I would hate having to get rid of this due to a few flaws, and I realize an exposure drift is a HUGE flaw. I'm like anybody else in the video production business, I need a reliable piece of equipment, something I can depend upon in the field, and I don't think this camera is there YET. So, what's it all add up to, it adds up to buying another camera and holding on to this and letting it evolve. Just a simple inexpensive1080p camera will get me by on most shoots, and the market is filled with them. That's my plan!
  8. My bad, it would help if the MF focus assist is set to 'On' that did the trick! Thanks again!
  9. I gave that a try and that activated the peaking feature. I probably have something mapped wrong, but I do appreciate the information.
  10. Well, I was able to slap an old Soligor 135mm lens on my new NX1 and did some simple tests. What I'm noticing is the viewfinder will bloom from a high contrast to low contrast scene, but that isn't being recorded. From these early tests, I don't see this blooming at all. I really like the feel of this camera, and the still images look fantastic. Even if this turns out to be somewhat plagued with bugs on the video end, I would still be tempted to keep this camera just to take stills. One stupid question I would like to ask is if there's a way to punch in for a magnified focus assist with an adapted lens? Lots to learn!
  11. Andrew, If I may ask, do you have any plans on creating a NX1 shooters guide? Thank you!
  12. I hear that! I think without testing out your own camera, you have to take what is posted here with a grain of salt, why? An example would be GXAlan, obviously a camera in auto mode is going to compensate at will. With that being said, I'm not knocking his post, but rather using that as an example how what you read on this thread can be taken out of context because, we the reader, have no clue how the tested camera is setup.
  13. No one is saying it is are they? I just have never seen footage posted that used a ND filter and I'm curious what it looks like, no big deal.
  14. I have to agree with that. It would be interesting if that same scene shot with an ND stopped the flicker. Well, I think just like BMPCC with the black dots in high contrast, we owners of this camera are at the hands of Samsung acknowledging the problem and fixing it....FAST. I have to think this is why the update hasn't posted yet, they, Samsung, realize there's more here to fix, he said with a grin!
  15. All pretty interesting stuff, and the plot gets thicker! Still don't have a lens to test my new NX1 out yet. What I am curious about is DigitalEd's lens going out of focus. Can you explain that one a little more DE? Set to fully manual, how can that lens change focus if you're not even touching the focus barrel? Has to be an AF function going on somewhere, no?
  16. Huh? You're kidding me, the 45mm drifts out of focus? Is that the lens or the body itself causing that? Also, I'm curious to ask the Drifters, sorry my sick humor, people experiencing the drift, if you actually are seeing that bloom in the LCD and or viewfinder?
  17. I don't think anyone is accepting that as normal, they may question if said clip has the shift, but a shift is a shift, and that's a problem. It's hard to blame Samsung because it's par for the course, just look at Black Magic, Nikon, RED, and all the problems they've had in the past with their newly launched cameras. In a perfect world, they would get this into the hands of real world workers to put it through it's paces and eliminate glitches such as what is happening with the NX1, and then we all woke up! When you're making a living shooting video, this is unacceptable and one we all hope Samsung remedies quickly. I think how fast Samsung reacts to these issues, with a fix, will be a testament to how serious they are about being in this market.

    New NX1 Issue

DCI mode? You mean the 4096 x 2160 4K mode? That would suck, although I pretty much shoot UHD -4K. I guess what they say is true, you buy a new model camera that isn't a predecessor to a previous model and you're basically beta testing to an extent.
  19. DigitalEd, don't know where you're going to get this download, but this is the link I'm going to and as you can see, there is no new update posted? http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/EV-NX1ZZZBQBAU
  20. Nope, not me, I'm to chicken! They, Samsung, obviously pulled that update for a reason. But, that's nice to offer it up DigitalEd!
  21. NOA, yes, perhaps you're right on that particular video of DigitalEd's, but I'm not referring to that video, like the quote says, I don't see it in the CANDLE test.
  22. What's so funny about it? Yeah, maybe we're all splitting hairs, who knows. But, before you all throw in a bunch of nasty comments, it's apparent to me that some of the test footage posted has drift and others, I personally, just don't see it. Obviously, Agolex's post definitely shows the camera making a compensation, but DigitalEd's candle test, I just don't see it. What I do see in DigitalEd's candle test is a washed out bottom right-hand corner, perhaps a lens flare, I don't know, and it doesn't matter. I've pretty much come to the conclusion this shift isn't happening on all NX1's, again, that's just my own conclusion, whether it's right or wrong, who knows. I thank those that have posted their findings and their opinions.
  23. DigitalEd, thank you for posting that video. Wow, this gets more confusing the more I see examples of this shift, or is it. At this point, I'm on the fence as to whether there is a shift going on or not. Some footage I see looks like there is a shift and others don't, and you have to factor into that equation, does the operator have all the settings correct. Here's my take, I just got this camera today, but don't have a lens for it yet, so my point, from most of what I've read, I am NOT going to update the software to the V1.10 and wait on the newer update to hit. My thinking, and key word is thinking, that the majority of users that may have this shift have updated to the V1.10. Now, I'm sure there are those that updated and are not experiencing this, so take that with a grain of salt. Bottom line, I'm looking forward to experimenting with this camera, and I truly think the future of this camera are very bright as it just seems Samsung is 100 percent behind making this camera a contender in the affordable 4K acquisition arena and not a totally unusable boat anchor.
