  1. I was tempted to buy from Samy's but they do charge tax, around $116. I called B&H and they said a shipment is coming on January 20, so hopefully for us on back order this will finally be it.

January 20th is nothing! Rather than the projected mid February I've been hearing. Hopefully it all works out. I have some projects coming up that I'd love to shoot with it.

  2. Any anamorphic shooters in the San Francisco Bay Area? I've been itching to shoot something anamorphic but it's out of my budget right now. Does anyone have a rig? I'd gladly pay to rent it. Just curious who's shooting anamorphic out here. Thanks!

  3. The A dial is Aperture Priority, which allows you control of your aperture but shutter speed and ISO shift (if you want the ISO to shift). Also, since there's not electronic communication from your lens to the camera, it might be trying to compensate for the image it sees since it's not getting any data from your lens. What are your settings?

  4. Got a chance to play around with this cam yesterday. 4K only goes for about 30 seconds before automatically stopping due to overheating issues. I knew about the overheat meter, but didn't know that the time it took to start overheating was so short.

  5. Pre-ordered mine from B&H about 2 weeks before the initial shipping batch (mid November). Still waiting. They've been out for quite some time. I just want my hands on this damn camera haha. The company I work for has a few of them so every chance I get I've been shooting with it. I love it.

  6. Olympus lenses work on Panasonic mirrorless, and vice versa.  AF works better for each maker, in other words Olympus 17mm on an Olympus E-M5.  Both cameras do AF in video, but the GH3 has much better video modes.  Olympus is stuck at 30P, GH3 can do 24P, 30P and 60P.  Might not matter if you only do web videos, then either works.  E-M5 is more a stills camera, GH3 is more video.  I suggest trying them both to see which one you like.  They are both in the same price range.

I see. Thanks! E-M5 has better stills quality than GH3, right?

E-M5 has better stills, GH3 has better video. At least that's what consensus is.

  7. AF is quick with both cameras. As far as video is concerned, I don't really use autofocus so that doesn't factor in for me. For just a run and gun camera between those 3, I'd pick GH3 since it's layout is a lot more suited for on the fly scenarios as opposed to the GH2, at least in my eyes. Love both though.

  8. The LCD on the GH2 doesn't give you an accurate representation of what you'll be getting out of the camera. The gamma shift is an issue. The EVF doesn't have gamma issues, at least from what I've noticed, so it's more accurate for white balancing etc. I use my LCD, but mainly to focus after I adjust everything with the EVF.

  9. You can get a GH2 for $500 at B&H right now and pick up some Canon FD lenses for a few hundred, which would be well under your $1,000 limit. There are other cheap options as well! It's great that you can mount anything to M43. Just see which lenses you like best. I started with a Canon FD 28mm f2.8 and 50mm f1.4. Great lenses and cheap as well. There really isn't a better deal right now.

  10. You'd probably want something with IS if run and gun is what you're looking into, especially with those focal lengths you're suggesting. Those Panasonic zooms are looking like your best option, but well above your price point.

  11. Check this article out. very helpful Or you could import with 5DtoRGB. Info on that program below as well.
