1. Well, after Publishing (web-casting, actually), the 1st 2 Parts of the Zacuto shootout, Zacuto was issued stern warnings, that all the big camera makes (Arri, Sony, Canon etc), would boycott them, and prevent them from manufacturing accessories for their (high end) products. To save face (and profits), Zacuto does a volte face, and comes up with a Ridiculous Balance Sheet for each camera, and also, similar condition shooting. Whereas the 1st Two Parts should to be viewed as Empirical Studies conducted, and the 3rd part should be viewed as jokes, to lighten up the mood. P.S. I am guessing Francis Ford Capolla will be retiring from Hollywood and Filmmaking. Very Soon.

OT: Steadicam?
Yeah, I agree. It's a gray area to be sure. You know though, the same might be true the other way around too. A local supplier finds some cheap equipment from china (or even gets a license to sell it in the US), slaps a new label on it and jacks up the price. We might not even know any better. Actually, this has happened to me now that I think about it. Many years ago I was going to buy a Dell laptop until I discovered that Dell was only licensing that particular model from an Asian company called Scepter and sticking their label on it. So I just bought one from the original company and saved about $500. This place has them for even cheaper: www.aliexpress.com $1144 + $189.47 for shipping still come out to be $1,333.47 so that's still a super low price to pay for all that. Plus, it comes with it's own foam packed flight case, and mounting stand. BTW, I ran into this old amazingly informative Steadicam video. I think it's something that came with the system to teach new owners how to setup and operate one. It even covers advanced topics like how to achieve certain moves and proper posture and all sorts of stuff. Man, those guys are huffing all the way through it while lugging around a huge Betacam.
I agree with u. India has a Huge proliferation of chinese goods, since the borders aren't secured well. But, some of them, are pretty cheap and interesting. I am usually only vary, with Higher End Chinese stuff. Since, I can usually just get rid of the cheaper stuff, if it doesn't work.

OT: Steadicam?

I was checking products of "http://www.szlaing.com/", and I realised, that, their prices are similar to Glidecam, which, they have obviously ripped off. Maybe, they were the manufacturers for them. I guess, all US manufacturers (as well as manufacturers from other countries), who outsource their production to China, have to suffer the inevitable ignominy of having their products duplicated in China, and attempted to be sold worldwide. Also, since the original product is manufactured in China, no real judgment on quality, can really be made. Btw, shipping is pretty expensive on this one.
4. The FS100 shoots at 24Mbps. I don't think its the bitrate, as much as the kind of compression, and the codec for lower end cameras, which, somehow removes details, for same size sensors. Though, for the GH2, people have been able to get over the problem, and will be able to do so, for almost all cameras (presumably), by increasing the bitrate and tweaking a little bit of the settings, i am sure, there must be some way to keep the bitrate low, and still maintain enormous details and DR.

Hahaha ... So true. With this kind of card, he is sure to have everything. Also, if the camera is even 50% as well weather-sealed as the Card, then, one can safely let it fall to the bottom of the ocean, and not worry about losing anything.

Chrad, read the link. You'll understand why i said "seriously weather-sealing".
7. I would not have believed this, till i saw it. For everyone wondering what the whole fuss about over-priced, too soft, fast primes was, this may be the answer you were looking for. Apparently, Mitakon has been manufacturing the lenses for SLR Magic, and that is perhaps, where they got the precise know-how from. SLR Magic produces the 50mm f.95 (actually T.95), which is Much Sharper than the Voigtlander 25mm f.95. The only issues it had, during tests, was the strong purple fringing (chromatic aberration). Otherwise, it was almost as sharp as the Leica, at a fraction of the cost. While the SLR Magic retails for US$ 1100, for the 50mm f.95, the Mitakon 35mm f.95 retails for around 600 Euros (approx 736 US$). http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/first-mitakon-35mm-f0-95-image-samples-not-bad/ http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3951/35mm-f0.95-mitakon/p1 Maybe its time, that Lens Manufacturers Stop outsourcing to China, and, more importantly, start reducing their unjustified pricing.

Panasonic are seriously weather-sealing their cameras. In every way possible. Now whether he GH3 is the beneficiary of such kind of weather-sealing, or some later model, that, will soon be seen. Check this: http://www.engadget.com/2012/08/09/panasonic-preps-sd-cards-that-survive-heat-water-and-x-rays/
9. I guess, the only thing turning the tables, for the GH3, will be economics. Since most Japanese electronics majors aren't doing too well, partly because of the Thailand Floods, and partly due to to the over-whelming growth of Samsung, Apple (and LG, to an extent), it would be in their best interest to try and make a DSLR (DSLM actually), which outsells every other camera on the planet, meant for shooting serious Full HD. The GH2 already does that, without blinking so much a an eyelash, but, then, everyone who dismissed the GH2, or owns one, or wants to own one, of that pedigree, will look for the GH3, to do it. If Panasonic doesn't make Drastically better features on an already brilliant video DSLR, then it will be shooting itself, in the foot. But, this seems Very unlikely, if the new models of Panasonic, are anything to go by. I am guessing the GH3 will be quite an improvement. The only question, may be, how much.
10. Thanks Andrew, for conducing and posting that review.
11. I must admit, that, I am a little disappointing, that, the iPhone 4S beats the PureView 808, at video. Does Filmic Pro increase the bit rate, as well as improve the video quality, on the iphone?
12. If the pics, in the Comparison between various cameras, with the Panasonic are believable, then, the RX100 outperforms even the Canon GX1, though ONLY at lower ISOs. http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/panasonic-lx7/panasonic-lx7A.HTM
13. I read this this, a few days back. These are very important accessories, for some wanting to seriously shoot on the RX100. Especially for film.
14. Andrew, may I request you, to shoot the video, together with an iPhone, if you could, so that a face-off/ shoot-out, maybe the purpose of testing the video (and sound) quality. That way, we could judge it, in comparison with an iPhone, instead of attempting to use a DSLR as a yardstick Thanks
15. Hey wow. That would be gr8. I am eagerly looking forward to this.

GH3

Looking at the new lineup of cameras, coming from Panasonic, this year, the DR is improved, for sure. The question is, just how much.
17. I am curious to know whether anyone has tried shooting a film, or something substantial, on the Nokia PureView 808. It has a far superior camera (and onboard sound), to the iPhone. Also, it costs noticeably lesser.

GH3

I haven't heard or read this anywhere, but, since the GH2 DOES have amazing autofocus, for video, I thought they could come up with some great developments, in terms of software. One of the problems, that a lotta "Old Timers" have complained about, regarding the GH2, especially with the Panasonic lenses, is that, the picture is TOO SHARP, for video, in AutoFocus. And, sharp not in terms of detail, or colour, or contrast, but in terms of Focus. So, i wish Panasonic would introduce more functions, for Video Focus, like, perhaps setting, like 'Very Sharp', 'Sharp', 'Soft', 'Very Soft' and 'Only Bokehs', for FOCUS. Since depth of field can already be manipulated, by reducing or increasing, the Focus Area, that is, I feel, already, very well, taken care of.
19. Actually, for STILLS there may actually be no comparison between the Panasonic LX7 and the SonyRX100. The RX100 is Far superior. Hands down. This gentleman has taken the pains to compare pics on both, as well as on the LX5. This is the Link. : http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1033&message=42054141
20. Yes, I realised its 1/1.7 inch and not 1 inch. My bad. Its apparently smaller than the one on its predecessor, the LX5 (1/1.63 vs 1/1,7). So, size shouldn't matter here. I've personally never been completely satisfied with the ability of Panasonic Cameras to shoot stills. Though, I do believe, a lot of people were quite satisfied with the results of the LX5. Panasonic wouldn't make the quality of pics any worse, in the LX7, than the LX5. Most importantly, the Sony RX100 costs $150 more. So, if it doesn't have anything noticeably better, atleast in some departments, to justify that more-than-noticeable price difference, then, quite frankly, its a damp squid. hahaha ... Andrew, i wouldn't want, you, to unnecessarily put, yourself, at any kind of risk, to merely demonstrate your eating habits. Or a one-sided wager ... :P
21. If you think the lens on the Sony RX100 is good, check out the lens on the Panasonic LX7. Sony 28mm-100mm f1.8 - f4.9 Panasonic 24mm-90mm f1.4 - f2.3 Also, it has BUILT-IN ND Filter (though I wish it has a 3-stop option). It also shoots Full HD @ 60p. BTW, the company claims, the 1.7inch MOS sensor apparently handles Noise much better, and, it also has a Much Wider Dynamic Range. Also, it has a 920k screen resolution (maybe, they may use this, for the GH3). Maybe, the GH3 will shoot Full HD @ 120p. Also, I feel, that Tests conducted o the Panasonic LX7, for video, will give us an idea od what to expect from the GH3.

GH3

There was this thread, regarding what people were looking for, in the GH3 (which, incidentally, I cannot find, anymore). People asked for everything, from built in stabilizers, to a complimentary date with Megan Fox. Everything, except, everything realistic. Anyways,I just read the review of the new Panasonic DMC FZ200. It has an insane f2.8 25mm to 600mm lens (though I am curious to know, why they don't have a lens for the GH2 or GH3, which does the same). Apart from this, it does the equivalent of 720p @ 120 fps. I am guessing, that, probably, the GH3 will do 120 fps, as well. Though, I wish, it does it at Full HD. I guess, the next few weeks of Camera from the Panasonic stables will be a hint of the features on the Flagship GH3.
23. I guess, we're just expecting too much from the GH3. I have only a few things, which would make this, almost perfect, Motion Picture Quality, Video Shooter, even better. 1. Flatter Profile and clean 8 bit 4-2-2 would be great. Right now, the contrast and sharpening is too much, so there is a limited amount of scope, for work on post. They should try and make it 12-14 Stops of Dynamic Range, for Video. Also, I feel,12 bit, quite frankly is over-rated. Good 8-bit, is almost as good, at a fraction of the cost. 2. Better battery. The GH2's battery was a joke. Something that should last atleast 3 hrs of video shoot, is perfect for the GH3. If it is too expensive, let people buy it, as a necessary accessory. 3. More lens options. I wish Panasonic would produce some nice pancake primes, at f1.2. We could avoid buying the over-priced Voigtlanders, Leicas and SLR Magics. 4. If Panasonic could make some nice accessories, starting with a Stabilizer, it would be perfect. Maybe, they could collaborate with Glidecam, for something within $150. That would be great. I don't know
24. I apologize for not posting any videos with the FLAT PROFILE. I've just been travelling (for personal reasons, and not work), and haven't found any coloring/ grading software, to work with. Please give me a little time. Maybe by this weekend, i should be able to upload a footage from the profile. tc
