  This has to be the funniest comment since started doing research about camera and film. If you think you got it bad I would like to invite you to come to the FS700 forum at DVX. We are up in arm as to what Sony promise us from the beginning. With the upgrade to our camera to get 4K. It is going to cost more then the actual camera and have you seen the size of those thing hehe.  

I have just bought the Imac 27inch and 1tb was full in less then 2 weeks from shooting with my FS700 - 1080P. With Black Magic 4K camera hitting the market in July. I hope by the end of the year there will be something cheaper to store my data. I do understand where you are coming from. Filming is only a hobby for me so by next year I will have to start to shoot most of my clip in 4K to get the best quality out of my camera. Interesting time indeed.

I did not have any start-up capital at all, and I scraped together the parts to build my first few products and then the sales of those products funded more parts to build the next products," he says.[/font] [font=inherit]"Some weeks I ate only white rice as I had no money, and my shoes had worn through with holes in the soles.[/font] [font=inherit]“The problem I faced is when you only have an idea and no experience, you cannot get funding. He has never once needed to access capital: the entire company has been built on earnings, and Blackmagic products are used in films, television programs, advertisements and news broadcasts around the world. But Petty's popularity has stemmed from keeping his eye on the little guy.[/font] [font=inherit]“A couple of weeks ago a 14-year-old kid emailed me a link to some movies he'd been doing – he was making beautiful-looking stuff with his friends," says Petty.[/font] [font=inherit]"Sure the big movies are great, but it's when anybody can get access to it - that's when it's exciting.”[/font] [font=inherit]In the past three years, Blackmagic Design has acquired four major US and UK film product companies (including the iconic colour correction company DaVinci).[/font] [font=inherit]“We completely overhauled [DaVinci]. We made massive improvements. It was always powerful, but they cost over $800,000 each and we got them down to $30,000 and you have to buy your own computer. We've even got a free version and it's beautiful,” Petty says.[/font] [font=inherit]This has been the consistent theme with Blackmagic's acquisitions: relaunching popular film production products at a fraction of the price, with greater functionality and simplicity and improved aesthetics.[/font] [font=inherit]While these high profile acquisitions have expanded the scope of the business, its heart has remained with its own design and development. In April the company launched the Cinema Camera, which rivals the cinematic quality and features of the popular RED digital cinema cameras, but costs only $3000 rather than upwards of $25,000.[/font] [font=inherit]Petty is often asked how he can make his products so much more affordable than his competitors' and he says he's not sure why competitor products are so expensive.[/font] [font=inherit]Efficiency is a business mantra for Blackmagic, and Petty wrote the software himself to automate all the business processes and reduce management costs.[/font] [font=inherit]Another of Petty's philosophies for business is to have a structure that can handle setbacks.[/font] [font=inherit]“This whole company is designed to fail,” Petty says. “If you can try something and be radical, you've got to design the company to support the fact it might not work. Too many people pin their hopes on something - that it has to work. If you design your company like that and it fails, then you die.”[/font] [font=inherit]It is the manufacturing processes of Blackmagic products that support this culture.[/font] [font=inherit]“We manufacture products ourselves, so if a new model doesn't sell well, we say, 'What a shame, why didn't we sell more?', then we just change it, it doesn't matter. A lot of people love outsourcing [manufacturing] but the problem is it doesn't let you screw up. I contact my friends in Thailand and they said the FS700 in Thailand will be around $8700 with the kit lens come July. I might book a ticket to Thailand with jetstar for $650 return, buy it in Bangkok and mail the manual from Bangkok to my home address here in Melbourne. I get to party in Bangkok and shoot some test video for 5 days. I have been shopping around and I don't trust some of these site that ask me to deposit my money into they account first before I see my camera.

I did contact lemac and they are selling it for $11000 inc GST but if I get my friend to get it for me in the US, it is only $8500. even if he has to pay duty tax it still work out to be cheaper. He will be going in August for 2 weeks. I don't know if I want to wait till August, I want to have it in July cause I am so excited about this camera hehe. I have about $11500 - I was hoping to get the mac pro retina display laptop to go with my new toy. Can't decided.

Hi guys, I hope this message find you well. I visit this site almost everyday. I am looking to purchase the FS 700 with the Kit Lense here in Victoria, Australia. I know it come out on the 15th of July. I was wondering where can I buy it from? I don't want to purchase it from the US because I want to keep my warranty within Australia. If there is anyones here from Australia that visit this site quiet often. Please advise me where I could get it from. It would be much appreciated. I am on this site almost everyday asking myself the same question. RED or FS700? spent 6 months looking through Red Video or FS700 Video. I am going with the FS700.

It is so hard to decide! I get my tax return around 10K in July. I skip the mark 3..skip the fs100, skip red cause I will have to wait another year to get all the gears for red. I have my heart set on the FS700 then BMC was announce at NAB...I love them both and I want them both....this is worst then deciding if I should use twitter or Facebook.

If you had the choice to get one if these baby in July which one would you get. We all know the spec for both. Price wise I think Black Magic win by a mile but the SONY FS700 might have my money this july...cause those 240fps @1080p is too awesome + 4K ready it is too hard for me go with any other cameras.

I have always wanted to do short film...then finally a feature film with my brother. I was gonna get the FS100, then I also love the Mark ii, I thought maybe I will wait for the mark iii...stay up all night for launch...when the specs of the mark iii came out I was in tears...'cause it was just a minor upgrade. I though my only options was gonna have be the RED SCARLET. By July I will have about $14000 to play with....I though scarlet it is. Just need to wait til JULY. Today the wait is over. I think I know which camera I am gonna get that will last me for at least 2 to 3 years. Thanks you Sony. On the another note - The slow motion on this camera is gonna be insane!
