Excellent good to have another option for converting, but can you go higher than 50Mbit/s? It's too low for H.264 4K.

Ah yes sorry, it's 30p & 0.25x for 120fps. Or indeed 60p at 0.5x.   I've only tested 24p at 0.25x so far, so yes 96fps.   Needs an article of it's own. Coming soon.

  Yeah, the slow-mo at 120fps 1080p is pretty good actually, I'll need to try it more to see exactly how good.

The NX1 is a 4K camera out of the box but make no mistake, it is really a 6K camera. When the NX1 was being developed in Samsung's lab, the sensor output ran at 6.5K raw at 240fps. Although the feature was only for debugging and not destined for consumers, this should give you an idea of the kind of hardware advances they have made with this camera and the new manufacturing techniques they are employing to get there. The camera has a CPU with 5 cores (general purpose), 240fps object tracking. 4K video, H.265 and 1080/120fps. Further dedicated hardware cores handle various computational tasks rather than them being done in software.   He's correct that now... works with every lens... you just input the focal length. Not practical for a manual zoom though.

The Sigma ART lenses in Nikon mount are a good match and you can control the aperture on the adapter.   18-35mm F1.8 35mm F1.4 50mm F1.4   Then add a Zeiss OTUS 85mm F1.4 and you are sorted ;)   All of those are better than Canon's anyway.

Long ago were rumours that Sony had licences 5 axis IBIS from Olympus. Well either way, they now have it. The Sony A7 II is the first to get it. If Sony can put an internal 4K codec and 5 axis stabilisation on the A7 S II then they will keep me as a customer for a VERY long time. How can anyone else really have an answer to that? VLC Player does open the HVEC files on my Mac but won't play past 2 seconds without corruption and freezing.

  Haven't had time to test yet but will do soon, image has a nice feel to it so far though.   Using Handbrake as a replacement for the Samsung transcoding app. Works great. Giving me 200Mbit/s H.264.

There's no agendas just opinions.   There's definitely no anti-Nikon agenda. Bitterly so. But I perfectly accept the gentleman's reasons above for wanting to shoot on a 5D Mark III. Shooting is personal, opinion based, needs based. Nobody will ever agree on the same thing all the time!   I can just shine a light on where a camera is better. Objectively and technically speaking, the A7S overall has more strong points for video than the 5D Mark III does. The ergonomics you will get used to. They are better for video than the 5D Mark III. It's smaller, lighter, articulated screen, EVF, list goes on.

I fully agree on the HDMI! Glaring omission for drone users and will hurt sales. Sure I can forward the feedback to Matt. They are on our side. It's just sometimes a decision is made in Japan for engineering, technical or marketing reasons that doesn't quite chime with the demands of filmmakers.

  Samsung NX1 review is evolving, keep checking back. The NX1 costs $1499 body only or $1699 with the 16-50mm power zoom OIS lens. Expected availability in the US: 28th November 2014. Really nice shooting sir. Some great shots in this. Fundamentally.   The bonus macro and slow-mo techniques add a lot to it and sound is on the whole very decent, nice and calm. What is the piano piece?   Only one criticism really and that is I think earlier on you could establish what the promo is for exactly, more clearly?   Some of the subjects speak more compellingly and atmospherically than others. I particularly liked the woman at 2.25 saying she finally had space in her head, in the calm environment, outside London. Would have liked to have heard more from her.   Overall, good job!!

  Why? Because it does OK with stills (nowhere near the quality of an A7R though) and really shitty with video unless you shoot raw and have 10 million terabytes to spare?   And A7S in low light is another matter... way better stills than the 5D mark III can even dream of!

  AF for cinema?... WTF? And it isn't actually bad at all. Pretty fast for stills given live-view on a full frame sensor. You want to see Canon's live view AF speed?... have fun with that.   And what Canon are we talking about here exactly? A DSLR? They have terrible ergonomics for video. Fine for stills.   When an idiot wanders onto the forum... I'm always wondering why they say the things they do... must be a reason. Weird.
