  1. All those things go out the window for me as a daily Youtuber. Reliable AF and great low light in full frame 4k is all I need. Good in camera audio as well is important to me. Color science is better though. A7III paired with EOSHD ProColor V4 is great. almost 3hr battery too! Unless the GH6/S has better AF I won't switch. Its a necessity for me now days....
  2. I’m in the same boat as @EOSHD_Twitter the Sony is more reliable. Better workhorse and the full frame sensor is great to have. As much as I love the video specs on a GH5/S, the reliability and image out of the Sony is better to me. And i know the canon mirrorless won’t have IBIS or flat profiles or the ability to plug in an XLR mic like the sony
  3. HDR footage shows up over exposed and insane. But just try pulling your highlights down and playing with it. All the information is there. The LUT fixes it too. So just apply the lut and you’ll see
  4. It seems like you guys aren't doing proper settings in FCPX. In the PDF it teaches you how to set everything up. Works perfect for me.
  5. Just went into the apple store with a hard drive full of 1DC MJPG files. FCPX cuts through it like a breeze. I layered four layers of MJPG 4k in a timeline and added a color grade. It played fine. Only when I did 8 layers did it drop frames. Apple has a leasing program I wasn't aware of. An iMac Pro base model to lease is like $180 a month for a 24 month lease. A MBP to lease is $160 a month! For $20 more you can have a computer that SMOKES. Im going to think more about it, but I may go iMac Pro. I sit in my office all day anyways.
  6. Thank you for testing that. So sad that it's sucking. I hope FCPX fixes this so external GPU is better. I guess Ill go with an i7 MacBook Pro 15". I still need to try an iMac Pro with MJPG files.
  7. Can you do some testing with your MJPG files from your 1DXII? That is what I am thinking will really see a jump. If you can natively play MJPG inside of FCPX without transcoding, things would get a lot better for me....
  8. I wouldn't recommend it, and neither would DJI...its not rated as being "weather proof" however.....if you get a little splash on it or a bit of rain, I don't think it'll ruin it!
  9. Hey @EOSHD_Twitter Does V4 work with the new RX100 VI? It has HLG and all the PP....it also seems to have improved color science. I just got the RX100 VI for review and would love to rep your profile
  10. Hey Thanks! Really appreciate the kind words! Ya...its a great gimbal for sure Totally. I will still use a MoVI Pro for bigger setups, but for everyday use, especially if you are a single operator, the Ronin-S is great
  11. GH5S low light is better than C100 mkii Honestly, I disagree with you guys. The GH5/5S are video cameras trapped in a stills form factor. Only thing missing is the built in ND. You get XLR and TIMECODE which the C100 doesnt even have. If 1080p is all you need, there is a 10bit option (which the C100 doesnt have) ONLY reason I still shoot on 1DC is because there isn't any full frame stills camera that also gives me AT LEAST 8bit 4:2:2 4k internally.
  12. Finally got our Ronin-S review finished! Really loving this gimbal. Although....at the end of the day, if you have an extra operator, the MoVI with all the FIZ control is going to be better. The Ronin-S is a Z Crane killer.
  13. I’d say no to the c100 mkii today. It’s too big. Under performer. Much better options. Gh5s comes to mind.
  14. I own a 1DC and have used the HDMI out before in 4k mode and it really does look great. Better than a C100 for sure and its APS-H instead of S35 so you get a little more room with your lenses. I will say however, if you either convert all your footage to ProRes, or you edit on an iPad Pro......the 4K MJPG can be dealt with. By the way, an iPad Pro can play 4k MJPG files like its nothing in LumaFusion

I just went to THE VOID in downtown Disney in California two days ago and MAN IT WAS LIFE CHANGING!! The VR + interactive nature of it was truly magical. I cant believe it. Cant recommend it enough to anyone who has an opportunity to go https://www.thevoid.com/dimensions/starwars/secretsoftheempire/
  16. Exactly. the implementation here is incredible. When shot properly, the M50 4k is REALLY nice. This entire video was shot on the M50 in 4k (with the exception of the ending which was 1DC)

  18. I’m selling my speed booster that we used in the speed booster video. So if you want it... hit me up. $300 + shipping. Email me: dave@davealtizer.com
  19. Canon rumors released some specs on the new G7X III and M5 II. I'm most excited to see what they do with the M5. The M5 is supposed to be a higher end camera from the M50...but the M50 is so so good IMO. If they have 4k with DPAF and no crop...now we're talking. That new sensor paired with the Digic 8 might allow that to happen. My thoughts are maybe at VidCon Canon will release the G7X Mark III. It's the perfect "vlogger" camera and would be a nice splash in the market coming off the trails of the Sony RX100 6. We are going to VidCon next week so I will let you know if anything happens there. Here are the specs from Canon Rumors: EC804 – Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III 4.2x Zoom 1″ sensor DPAF 4k Video (no DPAF) GPS This camera features a new Canon 1″ sensor EC811 Canon EOS M5 Mark II 28.3MP APS-C mirorless camera 4K@30fps video and DPAF. This camera features a new Canon APS-C sensor http://www.canonrumors.com/are-these-the-next-canon-cameras-to-be-announced-cr1/
  20. I don't know why nobody makes a wide angle zoom point and shoot. I'd love a G7X or RX100 with a 16-35mm equiv and I think a ton of vloggers would as well.
  21. Here’s my video review on the speed booster I got from a previous thread. Just posting here so we don’t have multiple M50 threads. Speed booster really solves the issues with the 4K crop. I wish Metabones would make an “XL” version for EF-M so it takes the 4K crop to proper super35. But still, the .71x isn’t too bad.
  22. I did some tests comparing my 1DC to the M50 in 4K. In the video, you can see that the 1DC in 4K actually has better rolling shutter performance. Also, to my eye...the 1DC has an advantage in overall image quality. More richness and color information in the files. It also seems a bit sharper as well. HOWEVER, with a speed booster, the M50's 4K is usable, and if anything, will serve as an excellent B camera for interviews. The rolling shutter in 4K is probably so bad that I wouldn't recommend it for gimbal shots. But as you can see in the test, using the FCPX rolling shutter fix plugin, it stabilizes it fairly well. I'm hoping a true full frame 4k mirrorless camera comes from Canon soon!
  23. No. I hate using touch screens for interfacing.
