    AXIOM Beta

I’m going to chime in here... And, this could be purely anecdotal... but I’m sure many of you guys will be able to relate. I find myself doing this once in a while, but I can’t imagine doing this every single time. I do it in times of convenience (e.g. when I’m on the go; or when someone is already watching something on the television that isn’t as interesting to me; or when I can’t find what I want to watch on TV... etc.). And, whenever possible (if it’s possible), where I have to share what I am watching on my phone... I just mirror my phone screen with the media box that I am using... I don’t think televisions are a dying breed... especially with streaming services like Netflix, Crave and Hulu around... my wife and I peruse through Netflix when we aren’t busy and the kids are in bed. They have some decent content and I’d rather watch that on our 40in TV than a 5in cell phone. What I do notice is my reliance in front of a desktop has reduced A LOT.... I would spend hours upon hours on them.... even now... this post is directly from my phone. I only ever touch my desktop for video/photo editing and the rare instances where I need to scan something and/or need the word processor. @webrunner5 I'm sorry that you have to and/or had to go through that... I can't fathom what you've been through, and I really can't imagine being away from a movie theatre that long. Speaking of which, I don't think Movie Theaters are a dying breed either.... those are alive and well, in my opinion - no theater is closing down due to lack of business in my area. In fact, some days - especially on opening night - the popular movies are sold out (at least where I live - and its been like that for years now).
  2. Anybody interested in boarding the 8K train, can buy a 8K monitor from Dell now... https://www.dell.com/en-ca/shop/dell-ultrasharp-32-8k-monitor-up3218k/apd/210-alez/monitors-monitor-accessories I'd be interested if it weren't so expensive
  3. I agree, I have a feeling that these sensors are going straight into the Venice line. And, I agree that we will have a hard time editing them now, but we can keep them for later???? I don’t know... we are constantly looking at gear and comparing, having G.A.S.... and eventually upgrading... May be having one camera like this that will rule them all will stop us from looking, comparing and upgrading... and actually concentrating on content.
  4. If it will do 8K/60p... and 2K/1080p @ 240fps... then may be also 4K/120fps??? So it would first of many things - affordable
  5. Slow down the 60p footage to 25% (you will have to figure this out on your own as I don't use Resolve) Of course, you can slow down the 24p too... but it becomes choppy and not as smooth as the 60p.
  6. You sure this trusted source isn’t peeking on the development of the a7r4??? But then again, it does fall inline with that 8K talk... so the S line is more video oriented than the others.
  7. Sounds cool, but why can’t you do the same with all the models that offer HDMI out???
  8. Or wait for cheaper Chinese knock offs and hope for the best
  9. Get a 9 Solutions C-Pan Arm... google it!!! Thats what I’m craving right now...
  10. From all reports that I am hearing - you need to go through 3 different hits/processes to get from photo to video (and vice versa) on the EOS-R???
  11. This is the (latest) proposed modularity aspect of this phone, if anyone missed it in the MKBHD video:
  12. Yep. I'm just going to wait and see... if the modules start coming out... Ultimately, its the modules thats either going to make or break this system.
  13. Now thats some commitment to garbage!
  14. Wow that is bad. And, here I thought you guys are probably blowing it out of proportion, but you aren't even panning that fast or pausing to show the skew. Its weird, is it the same in the 5D mark iv? Just asking cause of their similarities...
  15. Isn't that Canon's motto? - 98% doesn't need 4K (2012 to 2016) - the top 2% can afford a $12000 camera - 98% doesn't need 4K FF (2012 to current) - it was a cropped sensor since the 1dc - 98% doesn't need 4K/60p (2016 to current) - still need to buy a $6000 1dx2 or $8000 c200... so on and so forth....
  16. I'll give you that... they are 2 different devices... But, the one and the only reason why this device is interesting is because its coming from a company that specializes in cinema cameras... Samsung isn't going to above and beyond, and they have a slew of other products... Now, you can say... then Apple should be able to... they were a computing company before they got into cell phones... smart phones was an obvious choice. Now, I know you have your doubts.... so do I... but this patent picture is the ultimate mod in my eyes... for this alone.... makes the hydrogen interesting to me: BTW, I didn't pre-order and I'm not one of their beta-testers.... if the above patent becomes a reality... then I will definitely pick up a hydrogen when it becomes available to the masses
  17. I agree, I don't think it will outperform a Sony RX100 either... BUT... I also wonder if it can with this add-on...

    Waiting Game...

Wait for the SHX.... they will merge the GH series with the S1 series to produce hybrid Super35/APS-C camera that will trump all other hybrid Super35/APS-C cameras that preceded it.

    Waiting Game...

I'm going to keep what I have now and wait to see whats available in 3 to 4 years... who knows may be I will cop a x-t3 -> 3 to 4 years down the line. Ultimately, I would like to see an affordable Hasselblad X2D or X3D with 4K RAW @ 120p ?
  20. "Want" in many instances will supersede "need". Can you get by with a m43, of course you can... but many people still crave FF. In the same respect, if you know MF is great for both stills and video, and that the industry is slowly moving that direction... why not crave that too... but you can still get by with a m43. For me, as I stated in another thread, I think given... that thats the direction its all going... I'm going to save up for the next 3 or 4 years (using whatever I have right now till then) and get myself a Fuji GFX 100S or Hasselblad X2D if one or the other comes with all the bells and whistles discussed on this forum... Despite my own wants and needs... I would still recommend the XT3 - amazing bang for buck, hands down.
  21. Ask Hasselblad when the X2D will be announced and if 4K RAW will be implemented?
  22. You know what.... at this point, even if Sony put out an a7S3... its like... oh ok... another contender that has caught up to the benchmark that Panasonic is setting. In fact, I would even say that Fuji is really setting the bar here... just when Panasonic goes FF.... oh yeah? MF is really the direction the industry is going ?
  23. I'm so interested in the GFX 100S.... I may have to wait till 2021 to get it, but lets see the other specs are too....
  24. It’s just a personal recommendation... I’m not really comparing... Im sure if we are pixel peeping, etc... we should be able to discern one camera from another and I’m talking specifically about the output (or end-product) of the cameras; and I’m not just talking about the 1dx2 vs XT3... you can include the GH5/S, A73, etc in this conversation... by the way... did you do that black and white Image Quality test between the 1dx2 versus the GH5S??? What were your findings? My recommendation was based on small, simple, comparable IQ, relatively cheap (non-commitment type cheap), all the high-end specs in almost a throw away type camera... I feel anything in the $2K+ automatically and immediately gets you in the committed zone. Then, your defending your purchase decisions etc. You can build this camera up to be almost like the 1dx2...
