  1. this is amazing Andrew, you were right there from the beginning, championing h.265 with the samsung nx1 - now Sony is going down this path in a big way. This is huge. Can you imagine where video encoding goes next and what's possible with a tiny little camera?
  2. the UMP, while much improved with BRAW, still has magenta color shifts in the highlights that make the dynamic range not as strong. Also UMP doesn't seem to have a OLPF in it - I haven't tried this out: http://rawlite.com/olpf-for-blackmagic-ursa-mini-pro-4-6k/ but I think that would make the camera more similar to the alexa. Still at this point (and I am redoing the test) - the c300 mark ii RAW to pro res is the best way to get the sharpness an alexa has. even with the new Noise reduction set to minus 1, the image is still too soft for me to be able to be cut without anyone noticing. I love the UMP, but I sold it for the c300 just cause it was too sharp. showed every pore, even with diffusion
  3. review on this from facebook XT-3 group : "Just shot a short with Kipon Speedbooster and Leica R set. My thoughts. Well built and excellent optics. Con. You’ll need a 15mm lens support to minimize jiggle. The XF to EF still has some micro play. You’ll need to play nice on changing focus direction or long lenses will show jiggle. Someone really needs to make the PL style EF mount to XF to be a narrative : commercial beast. That said, the full frame image is insane on the XT3. Slight vignetting on Leica 50. Useable and can be windowed. The rest of the set was fine. Great on Canon 24-105 and 70-200. AF works decently but hunts a bit compared to native.
  4. cool but I want to see a speedbooster so I can do full frame on it with those great skintones, dynamic range and more!
  5. Mattius left an amazing video on this: seeing if anyone has tested with the xt-3
  6. well said - yea Youtube basically rose to fame on copyright infringement. I remember the pre-google days. Internet getting reigned in.
  7. I tested the c300 mark ii with noise reduction and odyssey 7q raw recording vs the alexa. The results may shock you! Testing the Alexa Alexa Mini vs Canon C300 Mark II in terms of sharpness via the Odyssey RAW to Pro Res, with desharpen in post as well as in camera codec with noise reduction set to minus 1. This is a new feature in a firmware update. You have to go into other settings and turn on and to minus 1 - you can't just leave off. Graded with my chart2 lut - link to that and stills here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/u3qmjg7iysvxlsf/AABk1BLbSY1Yy9JoDSYjo1Qva?dl=0 also stills are there to see better please email me any questions or if you want the source files - I can get them to you on a sd card if you want.
  8. tool to download all your vimeo videos before they take down your account; http://jdownloader.org/jdownloader2
  9. Wistia seems like a much better alternative: https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/why-we-moved-from-vimeo-pro-to-wistia-and-why-you-should-too/ I agree - but... vimeo is just using amazon for their storage. but yea, the cost of it all is probably insane this is funny https://melmagazine.com/en-us/story/the-best-pornhub-videos-that-dont-have-any-porn-in-them
  10. the Chinese have taken over! Great products for cheaper. It's a crazy world we live in.
  11. Better than most $10k follow focus. I can't believe it. This and DJI killing it with drones and stabilizers - it's a whole new era.
  12. girlfriend or not, his review was extremely fair. He put it through its paces, as Jon said. also, it's a free review. so don't complain. you spent no money on his hours and hours of work on the review that he puts out for free, or maybe for some advertising on their page. excited to test out the camera when it becomes available.
  13. nope, it was focus that was off. I think if I shot resolution charts, UMP would resolve more than C200
  14. 12:1 4.6k BRAW is a LOT smaller than the canon lite which I think is 3:1 4k files
  15. I think it's clog3 that has a higher black point. I found the c200 noisier in the shadows than the UMP! At 800 ASA - was not expecting that. Thanks - yes Canon is much more green. I think yes still UMP has that magenta feel - which isn't bad - but yes also agree UMP has more gradients so much dimensions on the face and secondary highlights and all that - so the image feels more organic yes they both do good things - the c200 is smoother - but yea lacks the three dimensional quality.
  16. I did a quick skintone and motion test between the two cameras. Will do a more thorough test tomorrow. Let me know thoughts. C200 was donated for the test by Friendly Films! http://www.friendlyfilms.co/
  17. with BRAW - the blackmagic pocket cinema camera 4k maybe the best smallest cinema camera ever made. I am curious to see dynamic range, skintones and motion and low light capabilities. After taking the new Ursa Mini Pro with BRAW for a turn - all the limitations - the low iso, the magneta shifting, the dead skintones - all have been lifted from my eyes
  18. raw has to come out of the camera - can't go just a normal video stream to raw
  19. didn't test with sd card yet used the visioncolor impulz lut for redlog with it thanks man - didn't add sharpening
  20. I can't see any FPN at 3200 ISO - it's moving noise - much more organic I added a more filmic grade as well to my test:
  21. Yes good call! Curious now to see if other camera companies start to adopt this technology. Also it shows the power of the little guys. Not Sony, Canon, Arri, Apple (with Pro Res RAW), or Red came to this concept first, right? I think its a pretty unique process
  22. fixed pattern noise is very, very much reduced motion is better highlight roll off is better this is a HUGE upgrade to the UMP: I did a test below: come on vimeo:
