  1. I'm going to try ics's method tomorrow. The footage I had to deliver today ended up being graded with source settings, three way color, channel mixer and finally topped it off with film convert (40% Film color, 10% Grain). Looks okay I guess...
  2. Thanks for you reply. But when I press save, they I get the choice to save them as either .dng and .DNG. I tried .dng because that's how my files look already. But when trying to pull that scene into Premiere after it says that the file is corrupt.
  3. So I've been trying to figure out the best way to work with my CDNG files from my Blackmagic pocket. After been playing around with Filmconvert I've learned that A. The BMPCC preset under camera settings NEVER makes the footage look good, when used now I just skip the camera settings and go straight to exposure, film stock etc. B. When changing exposure, white balance and tint under Source Settings per clip, it doesn't look at all like it would if I changed the exact same settings using Resolve. Okay, I don't wanna drag on for too long here but I am poor and have been using Resolve lite, it works amazingly (even though the interface is too big for my screen if I work on my macbook pro) but in the lite version I don't get NR!! So I tried to open the CDNG in After Effects because I read some people are using Adobe Camera RAW. I opened and BAM, what great controls for my CDNG, even CHROMA NOISE REDUCTION, which is HUGE getting those nasty red dots off of my BMPCC footage. But then another problem appears. Adobe Camera RAW only seems to color ONE frame of my clips. I hope I still make sense, so basically, has anyone figured out how to use CDNG and Camera Raw? I really really really love the simplicity of the settings and would love to work with my CDNGs natively in an Adobe program. Any help and tips on good workflows are also extremely welcome. Thanks in advance
  4. Shot a short horror film early december that I wrote. Shot it with a BMPCC, speedbooster, Sigma 18-35mm a Benro monopod (used it as a stabilizer) and one IKAN IB500 LED light. I'm still learning how to best work with RAW files and how to color footage without expensive software (I'm poor ) So I did my coloring in After Effects using the CAMERA RAW feature for this clip I sent out to the "crew" to make them excited and feel somewhat rewarded cause I couldn't pay them.
  5. As topic asks; what camera is this? Thanks and happy holidays.
  6. I shot an outdoor night scene with both my LX100 (4k) and my BMPCC and can tell you that the LX100 is unusable in low light for any kind of semi professional work. It completely ruins the blacks in frame. So I don't know about being "equal" to GH4. Never used a GH4 so can't really say but I believe it does a much better job.
  7. I'm not a member on any other forums so I will try to get my question answered here even if it's not film related but still photo. The Lumix LX100 RAW is RW2 files and I can't open it in ANY single program on my mac. I tried Lightroom, Bridge, Photoshop, Preview and nothing. I even did the "Convert to DNG" to be met with the text that it doesn't support the file format. How am I going to be able to work with this file format? Thanks in advance for your answers.
  8. Maxotics; I have some stuff here vimeo.com/chrisengdahl Also, I might just go with the Tokina DX because it does have a small zoom option. I'd be covered in good range, and then just a longer one to finish a basic range. Reason why I want to go wide is that I have 2 scenes taking place in a car. And even though I already have a good wide, I want even wider. Esthetic reason. Thanks again y'all!
  9. Thanks Kaz! I was worried about the anomorphot not working, I'll prob pick up a longer lens and play some with it. And yeah, I want to keep it simple. I will prob change from the BMPCC soon so I won't put down too much money on lenses at the moment. The Tokina sounds great for my project coming up.
  10. Will def look it up! Thanks So is there a big difference between the DX and DX-II? I can only see a small change in degree of FoV and then of course the cost. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/882236-REG/Tokina_atx116prodxn_ii_AT_X_116_PRO_DX_II.html
  11. I'm shooting a short in November and looking to buy a new lens. I'm looking for WIDE and FAST! I have some omni-lights to my disposal but will shoot dogme mostly. I have the Sigma 18-35 ART lens so am looking for something WIDER than this. I have the speedboster with Nikon mount. Any suggestions? I am also looking at the new SLR magic Anamorphot 1.33X - 50 attachment and it says on the site that for a S35mm Sensor (which basically the BMPCC becomes with the Speedbooster) you shouldn't go wider than 35. According to the crop factor with speedbooster my Sigma should be 31.5mm so it should work great with it correct? I should be able to use the 20mm to 35mm width without a problem no? Thanks for your replies!
  12. Ugh, wrote a LOOONG reply to you all and accidentally updated the page so it all disappeared. First of all, Thank you all for your replies! 2nd. Eos M is ugly (the looks and feel of the camera is a main deal for him) 3rd. We went to BH this weekend so he could look at tons of cameras and after loving the looks of the Sony A-series and Pana GX serier we picked up the A6000 for now (will pick up the LX100 in November just to compare). 4th. He does have Nikon lenses, he has some really nice Nikkor glass actually so I told him about metabones, but that's for later. Oh and he has a D60 so I guess he bought it in 2008 and not 2003 (I compared the images taken with it (I used my sigma 18-35 F1.8 on it) to my 5DM2 and BMPCC RAW and it just looked OLD). AGAIN; THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR REPLIES.
  13. So no thoughts on the FZ1000? Andrew Reid seems to enjoy it (but that's maybe not for the stills part...) I think he also likes the form factor on the A6000 therefor did I ad the LX100.
  14. So, he used to bring his camera with him every time we left the house (now I usually film family events and so on so he leaves it to me). But any kind of urban/nature, i'd say maybe portrait style from time to time. Quality wise (because I'll use it too and have worked with full frame still photography for a couple of years myself) I don't want to get like a rebel or something. Hope that answers your questions...
  15. So my partner owns this shitty Nikon from like 2003 and he keeps bragging how amazing it was for it's time and how expensive it was. (I took some pics with it when selling some equipment on craigslist and after seeing them on the computer I used my iPhone instead!) So now I've been trying to figure out what camera he should get. To mind comes the new Panasonic LX100 and FZ1000. Mainly for price (lens and camera in one for that price is kind of unbeatable of the cameras I've looked at.) Yesterday he came to me and told me he was going to buy the Sony A6000, and I was surprised, because it just came out of nowhere that he just decided on this camera. I know this is a filmforum first of all but my partner is mainly a still photographer. He's not an expert on the technology but he does have a good eye for composition and light (saying this so you guys can help me figure out what camera would be a great option for him.) Again, his previous camera was Nikon so him getting a Sony means getting E mount lenses and he needs at least ONE good lens (again LX100 and FZ1000 provides extremely good lenses from what I've read and they're both perfectly fine for his kind of subjects even though the FZ has an even longer focal length than he really needs!) OKAY; this is getting long, OF COURSE I WANT TO USE HIS CAMERA FOR FILM STUFF TOO, as I'm a BMPCC user, getting some of the video features on HIS new camera would be awesome, so put that into the calculation :D ANY TIPS, GREATLY APPRECIATED!
  16. Great video OT. I love the organic feel! Great mood even without music. I love the "raw" image the BMPCC gives compared to cameras in the same price range. I was a doubter this summer but once I actually bought a good lens, everything changed. I only wish we could get higher fps (at least 60 on prores). Again, gorgeous images.
  17. So I've been walking around in some of the many vintage stores around NYC and found a couple of interesting (hopefully) lenses. I haven't bought anything yet because I'm a complete newbie when it comes to the usage of vintage glass on new digital cameras. So I own a BMPCC, and my question are as follows; 1. Are any of the lenses (posted below) interesting? 2. If not, they're pretty cheap so would it be wort it to buy them and maybe experiment with cracking glass for light leaks, etc? 3. What kind of adapter etc would I need? 4. Let me know if you have some other information on how to go about for shooting cheap inexpensive vintage on the BMPCC. Thanks in advance!!! Here's the pics ; http://imgur.com/a/SOPsX
  18. I can't help you pick a screen but I can tell you that I've been editing 4K footage on my Macbook Pro 15" Retina display. And I don't believe the Retina displays are 4K but more like 2.5K (someone right me if I'm wrong). But yeah, I have had ZERO problems with coloring/editing so far.
  19. Time left and Histogram would be sweet on my Pocket for sure! Hurry now BMD, I love little updates!
  20. Thanks for all the replies. I ended up with the Zacuto. It's pretty amazing actually.
  21. I was thinking sun hood first too, but then I read that the loupes actually magnifies the image, which is EVEN better! I have a 7" monitor with soon hood, but I've used it 1/10 times on jobs/shoots. I end up just looking at the BMPCC LCD instead of all the hazzle with adding the monitor to my to go kit. So yeah, Zacuto, any other thoughts?
  22. I'm looking for a simple loupe for my BMPCC, and the 3 ones I've narrowed it down to in my price range (all around $159 for EDU); Zacuto Blackmagic Pocket Camera Z-Finder 2x Kinotehnik LCDVFBM LCD Viewfinder for Blackmagic Pocket Camera Hoodman Blackmagic Finder Kit for Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera Who has experience with these? They've gotten very different reviews on BH but I don't know what to make out of that. I have the tilta wood/metal cage so it doesn't look like I can attach the hood man if it's made to attach right under the BMPCC. If that part is adjustable I can see it work. The Zacuto is 10 bucks cheaper than Kino and Hood, and it the one I've read most good things about. But then again, some people say Kino is superior. What's your take? Thanks
  23. Sorry, I bought the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 finally and stuff just happened. I also have the Rokinon 10mm f/2.8. Can't explain, everything just made sense all of a sudden. Been doing a tons of adds the past weeks that will come up on vimeo soon; but here's one of them for now.
