So DJI is finally jumping on the the fpv wagon, I m definitely tempted as the price is similar to the DIY racing drones here. I thinking buying DJI care is a must with this drone as it is more easier to crash than other dji drones with such high speed.

How many of you are thinking to get one?

Not all FPV drones are DIY, there's tons of bind and fly options just like DJI is.

Personally I'm not a fan of the 1axis gimbal aspect being someone who already flys FPV. I also like how modular and easy it is to fix and maintain a regular FPV drone, DJI won't be the same (and let me tell you you will break it I can guarantee, they all break).

I like the DJI googles and the look of the new remote. But a better setup is having DJI googles with a Crossfire or Ghost RC link so that your google feed breaks up before your control does... having both on the same line is risky imo.

If you want to fly FPV and get the "Mavic" look just wack a small 3-axis gimbal under your go-pro, it's pretty easy to do. Personally I still have a Mavic for use cases where that will be an easier option. But a lot of clients now ask for FPV shots as they feel it looks more immersive and real.

Any experiencies with long taking lens - I,m trying wit a Schneider Kreuznach and a Takumar 200mm f3.5 and it´s very hard to get a clean infinity focus.  Also tried with a Canon 300mm F4 L and them it´s doesn´t work at any distance.

Is there anyone using with sucess a long taking lens, 200mm-300mm?

I was using the Takumar 200mm f5.6 and Canon nFD 200mm f4. In general tuning of infinity focus is going to be much more important than on a shorter taking lens, that goes for both scope and lens. I hook up a 5inch monitor, punch in as far as I can and focus on something as far away as possible, wiggle it around until it's all as sharp as you can get. Some scopes work better with longer lenses, but I think you should be able to get okay results with almost any combo tuned well at around f8-f11. That might sound crappy, but a 200mm anamorphic stopped down to f8 still looks really good. I've tuned my ISCO s8's to work at 200mm f4 and have sharp results.

Yes! This is exactly what I want. Handicam form factor with large sensor and interchangeable lenses. EVF on the back, flippy screen on the side, handstrap for comfort. Winning combo.

They could even build in pieces to help make modularity easier, like space where you screw in a bracket for 15mm rods and attach a 5-7inch screen if needed. You could easily make a form factor that could be built upon when needed. I guess similar to all these new cube cameras we are seeing (zcam etc), but tweaked a bit.

DJI software drives me crazy sometimes.

There have been times where I check ahead of time to make sure that no Unlocking is needed in the location I am going to shoot.

Then when I show up, the app is telling me I need to unlock that location. Of course, it is out in the boondocks and I don't have cell service, so I can't unlock the location by phone.

Then when I get home I look again and confirm that NO UNLOCK is needed for that location.

The other issues I have is where the "checkbox warnings" (I don't know what they are called, but they ask you to confirm that you are authorized to fly in that area and that you accept the responsibility to fly there), will pop up NUMEROUS times during the course of a flight. Literally, they will pop up 20 times during the course of one battery when i am flying in an area less than 100 meters square. Constantly having to consent to their requirements when trying to film drives me crazy.

That shit also drives me nuts.

Eventually ended up being a dedicated virtual keyboard instrument for our bubble-gum-punk-rock band.  --Dial up a keyboard emulator and go to town.  Moog, Jupiter, Hammond, Harpsicord, String Ensembles, etc.  We used that thing until 2012.  Not a bad life cycle for a laptop.

I had that computer as well, I think it was my longest serving mac. I also purchased the camera top left last year haha.

I use my GH5s more than the GH5.  IBIS is one of those tools that can be overrated in its importance.  I found it made me lazy with my shots as I relied too much on it.  Its no longer a deal breaker for me in choosing a camera.

Same with me, went from GH5 to Zcam, no IBIS, I felt my work looked better without. IBIS is like that little thing you think you need when you first get it but really you don't.

  7. I've had 8 Kowa-8s (also 8Bs in there). Sample variance is huge. Flares can be all different colours, sometimes matching front to back, sometimes not. Some are much sharper than others even when tuned (normal with all scopes). I kept these in the shadow a long time, but when I first stumbled on one I couldn't find even one picture of one on the internet, or even a single word that they existed, it felt like digging up treasure.

I've made some videos with them, but prefer the isco 8s too be totally honest (although how wide a kowa8 can go if you know the right taking lens is pretty amazing).

This whole film I shot with Kowa-8s -

    Hi Tweak,

I was searching the web for how wide you can go with the Kowa 16-h and came across this old conversation. So I bought the Kowa 16-h. But if I want an aspect ratio of 2.39:1 (cinemascope) I get heavy vignette with the nfd 24mm 2.8 on my GH5. Even with the nfd 28mm 2.8. Am I missing something here? Or does the GH4 crop in 4:3 mode compared to the GH5?

    Thanks

    GH4 has greater crop.

No AF, no FF, more noise and no IBIS

So you need to speedboost and use a gimbal (the video apparently was done half with a gimbal and half handheld)

    Not sure E2 4k 120/160 is 10 bit?

On the plus of E2 no overheating and can go even 160fps.....

I don't really use AF, Noise is a non-issue for me and I don't need IBIS (I can understand how some people think these are important though).

    E2 is 10bit.

Yes, E2 can operate for hours, even in my waterhousing shooting 120fps 4K and it never overheats. The housing is quite hot afterwards, I wonder how the canon would fair? (For the record my GH5 which basically never overheated very often would occasionally overheat in my water housing).

I get how people want a DSLR that does this stuff (I want one that can do this stuff as well!), but I think it's kinda silly to look past the Zcam if you really want those features just because it's a cube and doesn't have an EVF. I use the tool that best suits the job, right now if I want 4K 120fps on my budget that's the Zcam, in the future that could all change.

Prores raw has the same problem though, you cannot use it in davinci resolve.

    Correct.

There is a user made one and it’s constantly updated, though not on the main site, but it’s been recommended a ton, even from Kinson himself: https://reduxfilm.co/z-cam-handbook/#Frequently_Asked_Questions

Thank you, I was trying to remember what it's called, it's hard to find in search.
