whats your setup as far as GH4 footage, and 5dIII raw footage?

I have a 5dmark iii w/ raw, and just obtained a GH4, and I was curious about how my setup will be going forward -- in terms of color grading, workflow (prores conversion etc)

ahhh good catch.  That would indeed be a tripod mount, in which Metabones have on all of their speedboosters.

I think at this point it is safe to say these are fully electronic speedboosters. I say that because there is no way in hell they've incorporated IS into the speedbooster, so that means the camera is supplying power to the lens.

But when do you guys think such an adapter would be on sale?

 

I'm buying a GH4, and I want to get a Sigma 18-35 with it, but I don't want to have to buy one with a nikon mount and a nikon m43 speed booster, if a canon one is about to go on sale. 

 

But at the same time I can't wait for months for something that might not come, argggghhhhhh.

 

I just need a rough estimate of how long before it hits shelves, so I know if it's worth waiting or not before I start a new project.

only person that knows is Andrew it seems.  He initially stated an "announcement" would be made on June 3rd, however that was postponed.  When asked when it maybe announced again, he stated "when they fix it".  Which could indicate a delay of weeks, to a month, to whenever.  I feel it maybe sooner than later

Theyre protecting their top end. The only people complaining are people like us with no budget :) I cant believe their Cxxx line don't even have 60p though.

I wonder what their consumer segmentation looks like.  Do the pro's who use their 1dx DSLRs, or Cx00's have the big slice of the revenue pie? Or is it the b-camera pros, prosumer, and hobbyist's that use the 5d's and belows that give them the bang for the buck.

If Canon version of the Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 is EF mount not EFS, all's good to wait...

 

I have the Nikon version, it's a spectacular lens.

I'm curious as to what the big June 3rd announcement was? I figured I'd see 50 people asking you even before today

seems like it's delayed, and andrew is keeping hush about it until they "fix" it.  

Relax about what? Alot of people I know have been waiting and waiting and waiting for something like this come along. Its a hard product to make and we understand that but times about up and the need to move on to new things is here. I have chosen to just buy native M43 lens for our GH4 system. It seems like the smartest choice at the moment. 

which lens did you go with? I was thinking about the olympus 17mm 1.8 in the interim.  Also, getting a "el cheapo" ef to mft adapter to use on my canon sigma 18-35 wide open

Really excited to see what June 3rd is all about! An EF Speedbooster with electronic connection would be amazing. I've had my GH4 for about a week now using a focal reducer that does the job, but aperture control and IS would be nice.

 

Here's my first test, shot the day after I got the camera and could put a lens on it with the focal reducer I got off of Ebay. Tried out the VFR mode and I must say I'm really impressed. My expectations were a lot lower after reading people's opinions and watching their tests. So excited to see what this camera is capable off

Dual-pixel AF is NOWHERE as good as the GH4's AF when taking stills. In video mode, it is miles ahead of the GH4 AF.

It was desgned for video so speed wasn't the main concern, which us bad news for stills but good news for video.

I would love to see a system that can give me the GH4 AF in stills mode, and the 70D's AF when I switch to video mode.

That would certainly be the killer of manual focus for me,

ah yes, you are correct.  I was speaking in terms of video. 

But yes, I have seen the GH4's autofocus and it is pretty fast, which would make bad rack focusing transitions -- which the 70d is great at!

And vice versa, where the pleasant and gradual focus of the 70d is horrible when trying to get a quick shot!

Yes you can! It's called the 70d.  As a matter of fact, they just retrofitted the c100's with the Dual Pixel AF technology!

Just got a GH3, and a voigtlander 17.5mm  (30mm equiv) great combo, but I have several sigma EF lenses (including the 18-35) I would love to use for tighter shots

ANY word on the speedbooster for canon EF?  I can't find updated information on anything, mostly stuff dated by in August.

I contacted them a few weeks back again, all they said was "pls wait" "we are working on this".

I even tried to contact their "partner"Caldwell Photographic, who develops the optics on the speedboosters - with no response as of yet.

Does anyone have any insight? Thanks
