IBIS in video is improved over A7III? Did not know that. As for the 1DX, some of the specs are utterly impressive, especially coming from Canon. It really is a great move. However I am far from buying it because it's $6.5K. Although even at $3K I would not buy it because: - 1.5KG, thanks but no thanks - DSLR and its shortcomings especially in videos. Thanks, but no thanks. Are we in 2020? - No IBIS. Well we must be in 2012. - No AF in 4K60P FF. Literally the interesting spec for me is the 4K60p FF 10 bit which is amazing, but I shoot 90% video with AF on, so unfortunately that's a major deal breaker. - Couple of details like fixed screen If they would have released some of those specs (4K60 FF 10 bits, with DPAF) in the EOS-R body, with IBIS, I would be all over it. Now Sony can do it with the A7SIII, releasing what I have asked for years here, a FF 4K60P 10 bit camera with great AF (sorry S1H) and IBIS in a decent form factor. If they don't then f*ck it, I am gonna shoot with iPhones now on :).

Wait, the multi year old 1DX II does 4K60p (with small crop) WITH DPAF but the Mark III cannot? Must be either another joke from Canon or a rumor mistake. Regardless, a 1.5kg tank = not interest for me. That’s great to see powerful features like 10 bit, raw, and so on which will push Sony to have at least 10 bit with the A7S III.

The S1R is half the price for a reason: nobody buys that crap.

I am gonna use a XT3 for 2 weeks, 100% in 4K60P. What is the best profile for 4K60P on the Fuji: FLOG/HLG/ETERNA? On the A7III I hate the S-Log which is a pain when filming and a pain when grading and gives worst results than using Cine4. I am looking for something decently flat that I can grade quickly to match other cameras, but not a pain to work with like S-log. Thanks

Not bad at all? Phone do 4K60p for years. 2.7K is unacceptable. And no RAW picture. Only JPG. Clearly they do cripple their models like everybody now. Such a let down. Raw and 4K30P and it was an instand buy for me, even for $100 more. And no flat profile. F*** DJI.

Because I use the camera equally for photography, I need maximum possible dynamic range for landscapes as well as low noise for astrophotography. It doesn’t exist in APSC either anyway, XT3 has no IBIS.

The AF. Much better than S1H. A deal breaker for me and for many on the S1H. But the 1DX size is a deal breaker for me (so is the price). So I am still waiting for that FF 4K60 10 bit no crop camera. Last hope in the near term is on Sony A7SIII. Let's see.

First of all Bravo to Canon. Nobody here thought I would ever said that, but that’s because people say you are a fan boy of the competitor brand when you say a camera suck. Canon camera were sucking. This one is a great job. This year Sony sucks in fact. It is still not for me because way too big body, but I am sure it will make lots of people happy. Also it will push others to do something great. Now we have the chance to see 4k60p 10 bits in A7SIII.

It's a piece of crap, just like the A6600. Only good work in APSC video now is from Fuji. Panasonic does a really good work in video on M43 (good on FF but some massive caveats like the AF at that price point are unacceptable) Fuji very good work in APSC. Canon is still a complete joke, Nikon is much better than it used to be but not quite there yet. And Sony is a joke in APSC, let's see with the A7S III if they are king again or if they flop totally. Samsung in the past, Panasonic, and now Fuji show us the technology is here, even for small companies. 4K60p, 10 bit, good bitrates, all of this is easy and possible since months/years. The rest of them is just still in this game of protecting other products.

Couldn't confirm if that applies only to 4K30 or also 4K60. Also could not find a table that shows all recording options (for example does 4K60p does support Hypersmooth 2.0, Boost, or only Hypersmooth 1.0, etc.) Also LINEAR is available in 4K now, but 30p or 60p? It sucks that they can't give a simple table showing proper specs.

I don’t count on anything . Camera manufacturer teached us over the years to not count on them to deliver.

I do not care about the name. But there will be an A7S replacement in the coming months. They can call it III IV or XX I do not mind. I just saw that the FX9 basically has an internal SteadXP that gives gimbal like stabilization in post thanks to the Gyros. I waited a long time for camera manufacturers to propose that. It's a billion time better than IS. It looks like the A7S will have the same sensor. Main difference will be ergonomics and possibilities offered by the FX9. If we are lucky they allow 10 bit internal 4K60P and the difference will be no RAW external. But let's see. No ND on the A7S as one more differentiation (and NO 4K120p S35). Or maybe 4K60p will be S35. An A7S III with this sensor/color science + 4K60P FF 10 bit and the new A7RIV AF would kill anything on the market. As the closest competition (Panasonic) crops 4K60p and their AF is a joke.

The footage of the FX9 looks great. Hoping to see the same image in the A7SIII cause this huge body is not for me.

Try walking while taking a video both on the XS (unusable) and on the Pro (great) at 4K60p. The super wide is nice. The battery life super improved. So are small details. But I agree it is nothing crazy. If I did have to pay full price and not 50% like I did, I would have waited for the 2020 one (and I had the X previously not the XS).

It is. And now it records 4K60p with extended HDR on all 4 cameras (including selfie). And the car shot in apple video was shot handheld which is insane. Quite impressive for video this new phone.

A7SIII was ready. It was going to suck so they waited and improved. They reported they wanted to exceed customer expectations and that 4K60P was easy. This has been reported by Sony management. Now I think they got some issue with the body design. People mentioning XT3 forget it doesn’t have IBIS and smaller sensor. There is no Full Frame 4K60P fan less mirrorless on the market. It means it’s not that easy. And they said multiple time for A7 line their priority is among others size and weight. The S1H is a huge brick. So let’s see but if we see no A7S3 by year end it sucks hard. I am still waiting on a camera like the S1H but with good AF.

So are you telling me they don’t cripple products by purpose? And the 24p they do it because « Canon likes 30p » ? I mean come on. Maybe EOS R is not top of the line, but then at the price it came out it was clearly offering less than the competition for more $. They have no excuse. Like Sony doesn’t have excuse for the APSC garbage they just released. Not after what Samsung has done 5 years ago and Fuji a year ago.

Wait, it’s 2019. Who needs another proof Canon is crippling every bit of product they have to protect the next one in line ..? The worst is they also do that with their top of the line FF ! 5D or EOS R same crippled crap. Well not really top of the line, I forgot the 1DX, a very good product from canon. But you have to put 6000$ to get a non crippled product from canon which is a shame. Considering they were capable of doing that camera years ago I would love to see a 2500$ non crippled full frame camera from them! Too bad.

wait to see the A7S3 before saying that. Sony left aside APSC to concentrate on A7 line. There is no equivalent to the A7R4 on the market at this price in term of sensor and AF. Canon has been crippling FF as well as APSC. If the A7S3 is as bad as this A6600 then I would agree with you. But I doubt much it will. One thing is for sure this A6600 is very bad. And at that price a good joke.

This is so disappointing from Sony. With that lens and upgrades the A6600 with a proper 10 bit codec and 4K60p would have been great. Now it’s a joke. I was surprised they would release the new tech in the APSC first before the A7S. Now it makes sense, they just want their A7S line to be top for video. Still unacceptable, they give the sensor tech to Fuji a year ago and don’t even use it.
