yeah, this happens every now and then: I start recording, then trying to stop recording but it just freezes. Have to do a battery pull. Happened in 96fps and 4k mode, haven't tried others. Can't really see a pattern...

did you try the 40fps burst mode with electronic shutter? I have small hopes that it captures in raw :) -
Hands-on preview of the powerful 4K shooting Panasonic GH4!
J.P replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
according to the pdf presentation it does 40fps with electronic shutter. Could this do some V1 style shooting? :) -
did anyone try the 40fps burst mode for some V1 style shooting? No raw unfortunately but maybe worth exploring?

it sounds like you have a fair amount of control over your shooting environment. GH2 should be just fine but if you have the money, sure get the GH3. But GH3 is around $900-1000, for that you get GH2 and one of the nice SLR Magic CINE lenses.. Amen to this. Just buy a lens and start shooting, nobody else can tell you what you need. You will figure that out later yourself. If this is more of a hobby you wanna try out don't put too much money into it and buy too much stuff. You will get gear acquisition syndrome. What did I do? I started with GH2, made some test shoot

Full official specs: http://www.olympus-europa.com/site/en/c/cameras/om_d_system_cameras/om_d/e_m1/e_m1_specifications.html At first I thought, fine, they just don't wanna add more programming cost to creating menu options with e.g a high bit rate mode. But looking at video specs it seems to already be two modes for 1080p, one "high" bitrate 24 Mbps and one lower 16Mbps.. So it's just tweaking of numbers, this was a deliberate choice, what is going on here?!

So so sad, looked so promising. And focus peaking only seems to work with lenses that have electrical connection. Is there anything we can do?

Making sense of the new Blackmagic Production Camera and Pocket Cinema Camera
J.P replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
This is where I saw claims of it being lossless: http://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/blackmagicpocketcinemacamera/techspecs But agreed, reading more from forums and seeing video reports is really confusing  -
Making sense of the new Blackmagic Production Camera and Pocket Cinema Camera
J.P replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Lets not confuse things further with "visually lossless" and "true lossless" :) It's either lossless or lossy compression. And BM states that the PocketCC does lossless compressed CinemaDNG, that's all we need to know. Is anyone e.g debating wether an unzipped text file reaaaaally is the same as the original? No :) -
Live coverage - Blackmagic Production Camera 4K and Pocket Cinema Camera
J.P replied to Andrew Reid's topic in Cameras
Too bad there's no 50/60fps for the pocket cam. Would've been absolutely flawless, but I want it anyway of course :) -
I think this thread sold a couple of dozen V1s :) Waiting for mine.. will try to make something out of my 5day swiss trip starting tomorrow.
