  1. Why DFD? Why don't mirrorless cameras have a dust guard? Or maybe built-in NDs for that matter?
  2. I think medium format film has a certain charm. It might be because of the higher resolution whilst maintaining the film look. I'm not so sure if I see a difference in digital
  3. That's completely different. In that system there are no Leica cameras and part of the appeal of the Leica lenses in the mft system is their large apertures. Leica is otherwise not known for ultra large aperture lenses, which is all the rage these days. So Panasonic FF lenses will likely have larger apertures than other SL lenses, as well as being cheaper. I just can't see Leica allowing them to have a significant difference in price.
  4. I don't know. I'm doubtful Leica would allow themselves to be undercut by a large margin.
  5. You will be lucky to afford the AF lenses anyway ? theyre going for pinnacle IQ and are Leica camera compatible.
  6. This is incredible. I can't believe you did this on a personal trip!
  7. Haven't you had the G85, XT2, GH5 & A73 all within a year of each other? ? Body price matters if you have a total budget. You can buy more lenses if you buy a cheaper body, especially if the lenses for that body are cheaper as well (i.e. canon/nikon dslr's)
  8. I have a good computer and find the 4k files a bit sluggish. Thankfully Black magic Resolve has a proxy media capability where it transcodes it to easily editable media
  9. "good for the price" and "affordable" are two different things though. I would definitely be able to justify it if I were to use it a lot or even somewhat often. But it would be rarely used for me so no. For example, if I had a Canon/Nikon I would probably have their 85mm just to have around because theirs are $400 or less and I'd probably have spent less on the body as well
  10. Imo "affordable" means less than $400 or something that someone can purchase who is not professionally involved in photography. I don't think the 85 falls into that category. I make a decent salary but can't justify buying that lens. Not after spending 2k on the body anyway.
  11. I have the Samyang version already. Looking for an f2 one.
  12. Can they please release a 35mm f2. I mean... This is a basic lens. How do you skip past it for so many years?
  13. I have used the Canon 17-55mm, Tamron 17-50mm and Sigma 17-50mm. They all have similarly short focus throws unfortunately The Sigma 18-35mm is a bit better.

    iPhone XR, XS

Have Apple lost their minds with this naming scheme? They want the "X" to be pronounced "10" but the S and R to be pronounced as the letters. So you might at first think the XS means "extra small", or "excess" but in fact it's pronounced "10-ess" which means nothing! And why did they release the 9 and the 10 at the same time? What happens when they release the 11? Will it be cheaper than the 10? Jesus ?
  15. I always hear people say this but I found the log profile and the codec on that camera to be well below my expectation. The Nikon d5500 flat profile I found to have the same or better dynamic range when doing comparisons. Although the c100 was sharper, especially in low light.
  16. In fact I just remembered I actually had the XE3 for a week or two in March ? Just looked over my files now, and even with the awful 18mm f2, the autofocus and transitions are good.
  17. I've heard the XE3 is better than the XT20 for smooth transitions
  18. 9ms readout has got my attention now to wait for the xh2 for the ibis and better grip
  19. Regardless if the crop is 1.5x, 1.64x, 1.7x or 1.8x, it's still massively inconvenient if you plan on shooting stills and video, unless you don't mind the crop for stills too.
  20. Leslie, your posts are fantastic. It feels like I'm taking a journey when I'm reading them. Keep them coming.
  21. No mention of 4k crop in the specs. Could it be? ?
  22. The rumored EF-M lens is supposed to be a 32mm f1.4
  23. They can maintain the flange distance whilst still having a smaller depth of camera if they put the electronics to the side and front of the focal plane., rather than behind it as is the way on most digital cameras. I wonder how price competitive Canon's system will be. One of the issues with Sony is the expensive lenses. $1000 for 55mm f1.8. $600 for 35mm f2.8 (or was it 600 for both?)
