1. In theory it should. The front element of the Voigtlander 40mm f/2.0 Ultron SL II is smaller than 50mm in diameter and it is a pancake prime lens lens. You would probably need to stop down to f/2.8-4.0 to shoot. Keep us posted! The Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM and Pentax 45mm f/2.8 is already reported to work at f/2.8. It is best if you could try for compatability before commitment to buy the taking lens as you are using it as a taking lens for the Anamorphot 50 and not a regular prime lens.
2. The SLR Magic Anamorphot works well with the SLR Magic 35mm T1.4 CINE II but it does not necessary work well with any taking lens. It is more likely for the SLR Magic Anamorphot to work with prime lenses with a front element diameter smaller than 50mm (not filter thread diameter). If the front element is larger than 50mm you either need to stop down or it may not even work at all. The lens is also more likely to be compatible with prime lenses. So far this is what we know that works from user feedback: Blackmagic Pocket MFT camera only SLR Magic 17mm f/1.6 @2.8 Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 @2.8 MFT cameras Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 @1.7 Voightlander 25mm f/0.95 @0.95 SLR Magic 35mm T1.4 CINE II @2.8 Canon EF STM f/2.8 @2.8 Contax 45mm f/2.8 @2.8 Zeiss 50mm f/1.4 @2.8 Contax 60mm f/2.8 @4.0 Leica Summicron-R 90mm f/2 @5.6 Contax 100mm f/2 @5.6 Prakticar 135mm f/2.8 @5.6
3. Our volunteers will first use the lens and provide samples by end of Feb. We will then start to offer the SLR Magic Anamorphot after the sample footages via the following channels: Adorama.com : US, Canada, Australia slrmagic.co.uk : EU, UK slrmagic.com : Asia
4. Widest known Focal length without vignetting from user feedback: mFT (BMPC): 17mm mFT: 20mm S35: 28mm FF: 40mm
5. The version now intercuts better with Panavision anamorphic lenses and the version before intercuts better with Iscorama anamorphic lenses.
6. Thanks to all the volunteer requests. Our volunteer program actually ended on Oct 31st after our SF and LA Anamorphic lens meet up and we posted about that on twitter. We had another meet up in Melbourne on November 29th. There is one more meet up for those who want to try our anamorphic lens and 17mm T1.4 mFT lens in Sydney on December 4th. Please email support@slrmagic.com for details.
7. Not at this time will we be making one for wider or one for 2X. Whatever we end up making we expected people to hope for wider or lighter weight or hope for 1.5x or 2x.
8. We are only going to have one final version and the flare is blue. Same version as the one in Andrew's review.
9. The version taken to LA could have been the final version of the SLR Magic - Anamorphot. We had been trying hard to change the flares to blue and we managed to succeed just before we start shipping out the units to our volunteer testers. The coating is now final and flares will be blue. Legacy anamorphic adapters usually flare white, yellow, or green. Cinema anamorphics usually flare blue streaks so we tried very hard to make the lens flare the same way cinema anamorphics do.
10.   I will have a 52mm, 58mm, and 62mm at the San Francisco and Los Angeles meeting. The front element of the taking lens should be smaller than 50mm in diameter to work well in general. There can however be exceptions depending on optical design. For example, our HyperPrime CINE II 35mm T0.95 lens has a front element larger than 50mm and works well.
11. For those who are interested to try our anamorphic lens we are having a few casual meetup's on the following dates.   San Francisco - Oct 26th 6:30pm   Los Angeles - Oct 25th 6:30pm                       Oct 26th 6:30pm   Everyone is welcome to bring their mFT, E-mount, or even EF mount camera to try out the SLR MAGIC - ANAMORPHOT   1,33 X 50   As the lens is still currently under production the lens we have at the meetup will be the v4 Prototype lens. That is one version newer than the version EOSHD used for the test. Though not final, this is the coated version with controlled anamorphic streaks we worked on with EOSHD.   Please email support@slrmagic.com if you would like to Join us as we need to RSVP.   Kind rgds., Andrew Chan Product Manager
12.
is this their website? http://www.slrmagic.com/products.php where do you guys order from? If that is their website I find it quite confusing, where is the full products list?
The lenses are not available for order till December 2012 for the 35mm T1.4 and Feb 2013 for the 35mm T0.95. By then the website will be updated with the new products.
13.
Hope these lenses have their focus ring turning to the 'right side', unlike the 12/1.6. This made me choose Oly 12/2 over slr magic's 12mm.
Rinaldo, the new T1.6 turns the opposite direction from the F1.6 12mm lens.
