1. quickhitrecord

i am gonna make a nice upgrade kit for the baby hypergonar a waste of time and effort since they are so rare but it should increase the usability and quality of that baby.

still need a couple of weeks to sort out a screw thread mount for angenieux.not sure of the price
but as my ex girlfriend once said your an asshole but your not cheap : )
2. it improves the baby hypergonar a lot the problem is the size 80mm is a bit mental.
if you already have the tokina then it might be a waste of money.

focus range of the tokina gets you closer maybe 4ft...the angeniuex maybe 5ft.
remember that the fixed focus optic setting of baby hypergonar is more like some 16mm anamorphics 8-12 feet
what these ultra low power diopters do is give a bigger focus range perfect for interiors also you can do much more interesting dynamic focus pulls that are sharp

still checking the angenieux but my hunch is a doublet will have the edge.

the tokina has more magnification power at +0.4 but +0.3 seems to be hitting a sweet spot.

what is great is all my angenieux visual tests are using bad light wide open or stopped down to f2.8
3. i have been slowly going through box's of stuff in my storage unit and i came across some optics by angenieux and kinoptik.
the 2 greatest optics houses of france.

they are close up optics from the early 1970s probably for movie or tv use.
80mm size with a very nice mag fluoride single layer coating.
when i tested these with anamorphics, they seem to make an amazing stay on longer close up lens
my guess is magnification is +0.3.
whatever it is it allows focus from around 3.5 feet to 14 feet.
testing with iscorama,sankor,kowa type lens
that is roughly around f2.8 so pretty handy.
i think it is always good to test this stuff @ the f1.8-2.8 stop range.
single element but quality is simply superb.
i have 10 usable and a few others a bit trashed.
i will be putting them in a mount 82mm screw thread.
i will be listing them on shitbay at some stage.

i will be offering a full refund guarantee on usability and quality as i believe these are more flexible than the tokina.

although single element i see very little distortion or error.
just fantastic usability and the biggest focus range of any close up i have found.

anyone who is familiar with the reputations of angenieux and kinoptik will understand they did not mess about when they made stuff.
4. you got lucky with the iscorama the last 3 i got where all spares or repair quality.
anyone that says the isco optic in good condition is overpriced should wait for the slr magic and see if it gets anywher near iscorama.
just for focus ease alone it is a gem.
it really is beyond lomo in resolution terms, not the look but resolving power.
i believe to get better you have to spend over 20 thousand dollars.
5. yashica
contax zeiss
pentax takumar
helios 44
minolta
canon fd
any old 1970s metal body optics.

a lot of this stuff is variations on a design by cooke taylor hobson, carl zeiss.
old design played with copied by the russians and japanese.
the old looking single coated lens with a slight yellow hue are nice.
lots of cheap m42 screw optics to be had cheap.

6. 500 bucks for what an old lens on it's own.
interesting to have an old set maybe.
not at 500 dollars a pop.
you will need a 300 dollar adapter to go to gh2

these are just a copy of old english cooke cine lens.
ok for 200 dollars

why not look at japanese lens from the 60s and 70s smaller easier to adapt nice sharpness very low image focus shift.
7. you guys have no idea about nothing.
i know for a fact that in 4 years we will have something really amazing it will blow your minds.
infact if you can wait 10 years i guarantee something that will knock your socks off.
come 20 years the sky is the limit.
hold on as long as you can all this stuff is rubbish compared to the stuff we will get in 50 years
8. you must check focus on both lens if you have and it is still soft.

your anamorphic lens is to blame
buying bad china close up will do nothing.
that german moller lens should be sharp.
you need to return it.
sell it or get it serviced.
spending more money on junk to go in front will not help you
find the man that sold you the moller lens and kill him slow.
film it on your soft lens make sure orientation is correct and unsqueeze footage in edit
9. i never really said the iscorama was a better look than the classic benoist hypergonar.
it is purely about ease of use.
if one was to get a call to film scarlet johanhansonson lounging and rolling around on a bed for a stills or moving picture sexy shoot.
first you you try to find a hawk cos panavision won't let ya have a nice 100k optic.
then you would try a rebuilt decent lomo round front with minimal image focus shift and as sharp as possible.
then an iscorama.
you would not take a 2kg projection lens onto a proper shoot no matter what the look.
it would be embarassing dropping close ups on the floor fiddling with the focus.
people go for ease of use.
for controllled projects great as long as you have the time.
rings studio clip is fantastic but let us ask him is that beast an every day grab optic.
look at the size of the mollers they render a more interesting picture than iscorama.
iscorama normalizes the filming process gives you a superb look not as epic as hypergonar or even moller but good and better than nearly everything else.
scarlet johanhanhansonson may enjoy an hotel room film shoot with a giant long schlong monster hypergonar.
but she will be very nervous of the operator and his wonky long dong apparatus
not to mention his pizza plate size close up lens gaffa taped on the front
10. what is the main difference between an hypergonar hi fi 2 and a Hypergonar 16mm Small Anamorphic Lens 2X

one hurts a mans balls and if dropped on yer foot will crush it to der bone
der udder has no effect on yer balls and if dropped on yer foot it feels real nice
11. no not got any m42 rodenstocks but i bet they are interesting
exacta attracted some superb lens companies to work on the camera.
rodenstock in fact make the new hawk anamorphic.
like a lot of great optics companies they are not as famous as the big boys cos they made money form military contracts.
isco,kinoptik,angenieux,cooke taylor hobson,dallmeyer
rodenstock also where very famous in large and medium format optics
great reputation but just not that famous.
if you can find any cheap rodenstock m42 are rarer some of the others.
the heligon i have used very nice like a old 40s hollywood lens it is a classic double gauss design
but expensive now.
12. most of the 20th century fox label stuff is 2x.
that is gonna be a heavy and rough old lens.f8 if you are lucky 1 kg and dirty.
buy a slab of concrete or 5 bricks locally cheaper and probably better optical quality : )
no magic in the really early stuff just pain, sorrow and because of bulky size trip fall over lens on floor through plate glass
window.

this looks cleaner and cheaper a better version

13. the japanese made amazing products
they took ideas principles optical concepts.
took electronics, mechanics from europe made stuff better and more reliable.
they had ideas men.
proud men that wanted to best the us,uk,france and germany.
the chinese just steal
why think and waste time when you can use someone else's ideas.
china maybe a super power but it is not from original thought or ideas.
why buy an arrifllex lamp when you can copy and steal the design.
let us see if china can make a 500 dollar anamorphic that is better than an ebay 150 usd 30 year old proskar.
let us see an original chinese design for a change.
let us see something original for a change instead of retarded knockoff

quality optical and build that is the thing.
i have a 1980s leica noct,i have a 1950s nikon f1.1 and a canon f0.95 all in perfect solid shape german and japenese quality.
most kowa and sankor anamorphics are still going strong after 30 years of user abuse take the money was always a factor but it was by producing long term quality not short term money grab.
if and when slr magic do it test it quick and send it back if it is not good.
some people have had a few quality issues with the company.

14. as i said cashing in on the name.
some money guy gives panavision cash to use the name on home movie super 8 and 16mm anamorphics for projection.
clearly on the basis of amateur use.
no panavision design no hollywood glass no effort on panavisions part just money for nothing
