I would say it comes down to whether you are a working professional (or not), and how fast you can pay off the body.
For someone like Philip Bloom, buying a Mark III its a no brainer. For a student like me, or low wage earners, it doesn't make any sense. -

1080/60p halves the 24p bitrate on the NEX-7 to 14mb/s, so right there you have a big step back in quality.

Prices have and are continuing to rise on everything coming out of Japan continuing into the year. I think the days of bargains may be over.

That 4k dslr is likely going to be way above my pay grade. If Sony doesn't come through with the A99, I'm going Panasonic for sure.

You definitely got balls telling it like it is about Kickstarter. I told a fellow film student it's a matter of time before scammers become hip to that fiasco, and got an ear full.
From what you say, it really doesn't sound like it's worth it unless you have money to burn. It also doesn't sound like it has has a sustainable financial future either...of course this is Kickstarter we are talking about. -
For the price it should blow the competition out of the water. It's not like the Gh2 is a new camera.

If Nikon wanted to start swaying those on the fence, now would be a good time to start releasing some more information.
For those like who are not quite there yet with the money, it's a bit easier to sit back and wait for all the cards to be played.
We still have the 4K dslr (probably too rich for most people) and most importantly Sony.
Sony will be the biggest factor for me when making a purchase near the end of the year. -

I was hoping they deliver an upgraded version of the NEX-FS100 with better ergonomics and an ND filter.

I think this camera's features are going to end up being more important than its video quality. The cropping feature and audio features among other things may compel both Canon and Sony to follow suit.

The resultant FS100 markdowns may make that camera worth considering for many. I still can't find a used one for that much less than a new one with rebate.
