the brand of red is gradually out of fashion now. but there is no denial old reds esp mysterium-x and dragon sensors have their mojos, just like f35, alexa ev.

r1mx r3d footage is so smooth to edit, rendering time is the same as or even better than 4k xavc480 or prores hq or mpeg or avchd in 4k time line.

https://www.dvxuser.com/forum/panasonic-video-cameras/hmc-cams/217372-panasonic-hmc150-or-sony-ex1 seems ccd beats cmos at panning, but losses at low light.

just did some research, you are right, ex1 ex3 are cmos based. always thought they are ccd based. anyways, good to know, will pass.

you are right that his style fits most of us. in his reply he mentioned that he was involved in narrative feature making at LA, but he sees most dps have broken relationship so he changes to high end news and corporate to have a balanced life.

i followed cranky's channel for some time now. i accidentally stumped on his video on amira, which he thinks the best eng cam.

ex1/3 has 3 ccds, pmw200 and later uses 3 cmoss. i never care those 1/2 inch 3-cmos cams.

Actually I like EX1/EX3 color better than FS7/FS5/FX9/FX6 etc. That CCD vintage wine tastes well.

He used ex3 as the crash cam for his fx9. Makes sense.

First camera? Wow.

iPhone starting from 14 has very good ibis. Very usable. Some people do 1-2 hours shooting continuously.

How does gp12 compare to inst360 1 inch, rx0 ii? will go go 1 inch?

R1mx and scarlet Mx can complement each other. R1mx for tripod, scarlet for handheld.

I guess that Sony sponsored the Creator movie, and requested to use Sony cameras. DP decided to use FX3 to have fun. And it is the best marketing strategy for FX line cameras.

Sorry, Sony A900 instead of A9.

Many years ago, a pro was complaining on a famous photo forum, that his sony a9 camera (which was one of the top cameras at the time) and zeiss lenses setup was stolen. He was so upset, that he bought a T2i and the kit 18-55 lens. He specialized in photo wall business. He said that for A9 and zeiss lenses, he only needed about 20 photos, for t2i and kit lens, he needed 50 photos. However, he spent more than 10 grand for software stitching these photos. I guess that he also needed the special nodal point tripod head. Not sure if anyone experimented with 4 4k cameras with the nodal tripod head to combine into a 8k stream. For still scenes, you just need one 4k camera to move to 4 different positions. But for moving scences, then you need 4 4k cameras recording at the same time, which defeats the purpose of saving money.

8k on larger sensors maintaining big pixel sizes is a true winner, like arri lf 6.5k.

I think Andrew's other point on FP L is right to the point. It is a m43 follow up as a high res solution. The 9.5k camera in such a small body, and now has uhd 4k and 2k cdng in camera (4k cdng needs external ssd).
-
Undone reviewed FP L and concluded that the rolling shutter is one of the worst he saw in testing cameras.
-
8k is not a true advancement. it is more a compromise. the pros are higher res and maybe better color. the cons are worse low light and higher noise, and maybe worse iq. So, 8k as a side track feature is fine, but for the main reason to upgrade the camera gear, I don't know.
-
This is the right niche for high res photos and videos, like printing. Even so, for high res stills, pros use t2i and 18-55 kit lens to combine 50 photos into one, using special software. For video, because the scenes are moving, there may be issues. If the scenes are lacking movements, probably you can combine many low res video stream into one high res final stream.

I understand Andrew's point. One Sigma FP L can do vista vision, s35, s16, and still. Even S16 can have 12 bit 4 k raw capability. However, there are other ways to get 4k S16, like Nikon 1 V3/V2/V1, EOS M Magic Lantern 1080p raw, etc. These are much cheaper solutions.
