  1. So I'm really having a hard time finding a good monitor that has all the specs I want at the price I want. Right now the one I've narrowed it down to is a lg 4K monitor. I've heard that 4K isn't great on 27 inches, but every qhd monitor I've looked at with good color specs is not great from reviews. Before I spend my money away, should I be worried or heed the warning about 4K? Seems to be a consistent issue.
  2. Hello I am looking to get a gui monitor for my new computer system I'm building. I currently have been chained to a laptop display until now. I'm planning on getting a reference monitor for grading, but may hold off a couple months to give my wallet some breathing room haha. Is there any monitors that you guys recommend that are are at least as color accurate as my macbook pro retina? Needs: Price below $450 27" at the least At least as color accurate as my macbook pro retina IPS Would prefer WQHD/QHD (2k resolution)
  3. Hello, so I use rokit 6 monitors and Audio technica m40x headphones, and when I listen to my audio I don't hear any clipping. However, despite hearing no clipping on either monitor system, the input says it's clipping. The recorder is a tascam DR-10L with my settings having auto level, limiter, and dual record on for a separate -6db version. It says the input is clipping in audition but I think even without a limiter the output isn't clipping? I can't remember what the settings were on the daw audio track as this was a question I had a while back but never asked. But the input has almost always said that there's clipping with every new recoding/ project I work on. If I lower the volume or use a limiter in my daw, and I can't hear any clipping whatsoever, is it safe to say there isn't any "perceived" clipping that any non-audio savvy person would be able to hear? I do hear clipping sometimes if the subject yells or laughs really loudly, and I mix in/replace the -6db version for those parts. But there aren't that many time I hear clipping.
  4. Question, I'm looking to build this computer Before I buy the parts, should I be concerned with anything for future proofing? Like the motherboard for instance, I'm not familiar with what PCIe slots are for (I think for gpu?). Should I get one with more PCIe slots?
  5. So I'm looking to rent a canon to create a picture style and lut for my sony a7sii to match canon's log and other profiles. My question is, I've heard bad things about both cameras. I've heard that the c100 has white balance issues and the 5d iv's log has problems with dynamic range vs the c100. Which one would be better to match/make a profile for?

  7. So I rented a 5d m3 back a month ago to create color correction luts for my sony and the outdoors white balance test on the canon setup was inaccurate despite grey card (probably because of stupid clouds moving). I'm probably going to rent it again, but I've noticed with each new generation of canon, that the colors get worse with the reds going more magenta and the wb being colder. I've tried to scour the internet for color comparisons of both cameras, but it seems where one video the canon 5d m2 is greener/less red than the 5d m3, in another (or even in the same video later) its the opposite. The the skin tones on mark 3 seem more red than the mark ii but that's from inconsistent video comparisons. So if anyone has owned both, if you could share which one had better skin tones,wb, and color science? I have a feeling the 5d m2 is better but when I was looking at the only color chart comparison I could find (pictures not video) it seemed that the 5d m2 had way too much saturation in tungsten lighting (don't know how accurate it was as both pictures had auto white balance and preset examples but not 18% grey). Many people can't tell a difference but I can when looking at comparison videos of different generations.
