I'm pretty sure that it will last much longer than the 14 days currently decreed by the regional President and that we won't be fully back to normal for many months.

Being confined to the house isn't too much of an issue for us work wise as we both work from here anyway (though boy did I get out of being a professional sports photographer at the right time as I would be fucked) but it does mean needing something else to fill up the non-working hours to stop us getting cabin fever.

I'm guessing that a lot of people on here might well be about to experience similar confinement if they aren't already, so, trying to make lemonade out of lemons, what long put off projects will you be doing ?

For me, aside from finishing a couple of the latter Final Fantasy games to get me sharp for the release of the VII remake next month  , I think I might look at :

• Making a start on learning some Unreal Engine stuff
• Re-wiring/configuring my music studio
• Having a couple of lens world cup shootouts to try and thin the collection
• Developing a wireless interface for BM ATEM switchers
• Advanced urban combat tactics for hand sanitiser purchasing

Be interesting to see what people are planning and seeing how those plans progress here to keep our spirits up ?

Might even be a good time to have a "One Single Room In Your House Film Challenge"

Looking at the beautiful images produced with this hack at the time (2013 !!!) I am left wondering : Why should I buy any recent equipment ? I don't see much improvement.

Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm french (some times my english is a bit weak when I read ESOHD) and not a real professional, just an enthousiast prosumer. Seems that the equipments are no better than raw file in 14 bit...

I'm still trying to convince my 4 co-workers to leave Premiere and FCP X behind and switch to Resolve... But because we are civil servants and on public money (our organisation pays for the whole Adobe Creative suite) nobody cares ... and they don't want to get headaches ... I'll still try after holidays.

Thank you for this nice review of Blade Runner 2049.

It seems to me that the problem you encounter with the film his due to the weekness of the script.

When the original came out it was a real wonder. How to create 2018 in the eighties ??? Lots of people (most of them chinese) a lot of rain; a lot of bikes and a flying car...
Nothing fancy. But it did work because the real core of the film was the difference between human and humanoïd ... And Deckard was in between, on the verge of falling on the dark side.

In "2049" we have a classical oedipus quest of a humanoïd looking for a father ... Whatever qualities the job of Roger Deakins (and there are plenty) you can't make a good film with a script that feels like it's been on for ever.

The main flaw I found in the original was the too long fight between Deckard and Roy at the end (before a very beautiful and poetic death) here the fight with the female replicant at the end could be dismissed all together (and the pseudo-danger for Deckard  drowning in the back just as well).

In the end all the philosophical sophistication of the original disappears for the sake of a lazy blockbuster. Just too bad. And the inner trailer for the sequel to come (the real ones" who are gathering an army in the off-suburbs) make me feel bad.

In the mean time, thank you for your blog that brings us a lot of valuable informations and meaningfull insights on DSLR evolution (and forget my english).
