Overall I prefer the S1 over the Pocket 4K in everything but codecs.

The image is smoother and has more detail to it. Colorscience is ahead of its competition as well as dynamic range.

The 10 bit codec doesn't have any serious issues. Colorgrading works flawlessly.

But the S1(H) has a serious problem: Blue and yellow color clipping which unlike the red clipping on the P4K cannot be recovered in post because there's no more data left.

Prepare yourself for lots of reshoots. :(

What about the s1 vs the 6k?

Also for anyone reading this that has slightly deeper pockets and is ok with a larger camera and still wants the same "magic" in the footage - I forgot to mention that the URSA Mini 4.6k (not the pro!) also uses a Fairchild sensor and the footage is simply gorgeous. Just throwing out options for folks who prefer the Fairchild look. I have not used that specific camera, just have seen the footage - so I am not aware of its quirks.

I thought the G1 Pro also had a fairchild sensor.

I have new stills from a recent shot I was DPing. It's another theme, Kinda of game of thrones thing ?. I think this is a good point of reference to see how color look in this type of forest/swamp with those costumes and production design. Here i used some old vintage Takumar lenses because of the organic look they have, i think they help to sell the fantasy theme.

I use the same procedure I always do, and my style of grade using GHa Daylight to LogC. And diffusion LOT of diffusion!

    GH5 or GH5S ?

Those look fantastic. And as long as you're in anything but Premiere, ProRes is perfectly fine.

Can you send me a raw DPX of that last still?

What is the issue with Prores and Premiere?
