  1. Here is a quick test I did indoors today hopefully out doors tomorrow. Will give some insight to quality and focus performance will get outside to do more tomorrow. The Panasonic GH2 is hacked with the Sanity settings and the camera is set to Smooth contrast -2, saturation -2, sharpness -2, noise reduction -2. The settings for the Olympus were contrast -2, sharpness +1, saturation -2 noise reduction off. They need to let you turn them down more. The ISO was 800 on both cameras and exposure was set identically. For my hand held test I used the Panasonic 14-140 set to 40 on the panasonic for image stabilization. The olympus had the olympus 12-40 set to 40. Once I put it on the slider I used the Olympus 12-40 on both. If you like the slider check it out at salamanderslider.com ! My take aways so far I sucked at hand holding The focus tracking issue was a unhappy surprise moire shows up more than I like to cope with Olympus settings are so saturated they need more than -2 reduction I also discovered that you can use the front dial to adjust fstop after you pop out the touchscreen menu. That being said if you try to switch to viewfinder it turns off so it can do it but it is incredibly stupid. I thought Andrew was a bit harsh but maybe like me he had really high hopes and what they have presented is a huge disappointment so much so you want to go slap the guys at Olympus.
  2. I finally received my camera and the crop appears to be 80% of my GH2. So my 12mm looks more like 15mm and it's that way ibis on or off. I would have rather they given me all the field of view I could get ibis off but it is what it is. As far as quality I haven't had it long but it doesn't seem as bad as some have made it out to be. I'm going to run it against my hacked GH2 if it beats that I will be happy enough.
  3. @fuzzynormal Maybe I lack the pixel peeping eye but for what it is that looks good to me. What lens did you use and is there atmospheric effects going on or is it the software stabilization that makes the mirage like wobbles/ripples for lack of a better word?
  4. What I think Olympus should have done is documented the crop in specifications than it wouldn't be a debate. As is we have to depend on others to tell us.I hope it is 2.4 that is ok 2.7 was crossing a line. I know why there is a crop that being said if I need a wide shot and could turn IBIS off why should I still loose my field of view. I'm sure there is a good reason don't feel anyone has to speculate for me and happily if it's 2.4 it's not as big a deal.
  5. I think the real issue with this camera is not the lack of 4k or even the moire we've seen it I can live with it. That being said is it really a 2.7 crop factor ibis on or off? So a 7mm is an equivalent 18.9 vs 14 normally that disturbs me. I was comfortable with the m4/3 compromise but I don't know if I want to compromise even more! How does this compare to the GH4 4k crop?
  6. Just curious did you have the image stabilization on and which mode? Even given the observations I'm still getting one for stills primary the Hires is huge for me. I also love the Olympus pro lenses and just hope the EM MKII will be up to snuff in the future.
