That's how canon seems to see their DSLR lineup, as still cameras. I maybe shooting myself in the foot by saying this but I suspect that canon won't release a 4K camera cheaper than the c300. But what's so wrong with that. Canon wants to create a barrier of entry which protects the owners and the brand name. Think about it if everyone had amazing cameras, then no one could get jobs just for having a camera. It may suck that good cameras cost money but I think that a little bit more money is worth the extra job security.
