  1. The way I do my edits are to adjust the luminance levels in my NLE, Sony Vegas Pro, using a video scope or similar tool to fall within the 16-235 (0-100 IRE) range. This outputs to broadcast (TV) levels when rendered. My camera tends to record with the black levels close to 16 but the white levels up to 255. It helps a great deal with highlight clipping. Adjusting Zebras on the camera to somewhere in the 95-105 IRE level would help minimizing clipping but my camera lacks the function.
  2. Those are some of the reasons I've got the RX10 on the top of my list for a vacation camera. I'm not a pro. When traveling on vacation, ease of use and minimal gear is my top priority. The Sony's built in ND filter is a Godsend for me. 4K is not important enough for me yet and the RX10's and RX100's very good 1080p seem to be more than satisfactory for my needs. I too have been looking at the LX100 for low-light, indoor/night uses. It would have the edge there but I'm still undecided. What turns me off with the FZ1000 is the 37mm crop on the wide end at 4K and the lack of ND. If my camera has 4K, I'm going to use it. I'm drawn to RX10 camera since they have a bit more video complementing features excluding image profiles. I'm also a minimalist with editing, I try to get it as close to what I want OOC as I can. An RX10 with 4K would be very nice though. It ultimately depends and what you need and what your willing to compromise with.
  3. Impressive. I watched it in 1080p and it was extremely sharp. I can't understand why some folks still say that the advantages in detail when downsampling from 4K is a gimmick.
  4. If you can use a DC coupler with the LX100 then such a battery pack could be used. I've made a similar rig for my Canon ELPH 300 (for long time-lapses) and a pair of 18650 (3.7v) batteries in a parallel battery holder (essentially a 2 cell battery pack). I also wired another connector with an inline 3.7 volt BUCK converter so I could use a small sealed 12v battery for extremely long power needs. The point is to supply the correct voltage with the correct connector tip and polarity for the DC coupler. The cameras battery level indicator in all likelihood will be inaccurate though.
