How will i know if i have a bad sensor?

Okay so I live far away from the United States and bought the GH4 from Adorama. Are there stuff that i should be aware off, to make sure the unit is defective or not? Because I bought the BMPCC and returned it and I'm getting paranoid about getting a defective product again.
