Does this mean that the GH4 + brick could record raw out of the 3G HD-SDI ports?

Flip I didn't expect to hear that araucaria! Did you think the quality was noticeably better or just not enough to justify the annoying workflow?

Hey, thanks for the reply! It's nikon mount so I could change aperture with a metabones adapter. I don't know if I'm sold on the thought if having 2 bodies right now, although samples from the GX7 look good! I think the GH2 is fuller featured for video what with the hacks etc. Is magic lantern really that difficult? I've looked at it briefly before only for focus peaking in live view!

Hey guys, I'm looking for some advice here on what is probably a pretty unimportant decision! I'm pretty much a hobbyist who likes to make short films and take photos. In the past I've had full frame Canons (pre ML Raw) and although the stills were incredible, the video was pretty lacklustre. After a bit of research, and the want to free up a bit of cash, I sold the Canon stuff and bought a GH2 and a Sigma 18-35mm f1.8. This set up produces some really nice video with a HBR hack but the stills I'm getting, even with the one native lumix lens I have, don't do anything for me at all. This has made me interested in getting back in the Canon game since everything shot on ML Raw I've seen is very nice! Would it be a step backwards in video quality for me to sell the GH2 set up and buy a 50D and a 35L - with the view of staying within the Canon brand, should I want to spend big money on a set up again (Like a 5D3). Or with all the advances in m43 stuff like the GH4 and the BMD cameras, is m43 a better system to currently be in? I know this post reaks of GAS, and I guess that is a big part of it but who doesn't like to indulge their hobby once in a while :) If you guys have any other suggestions, my budget is probably looking like around £1000 including a lens since thats pretty close to what I'd get for the GH2 and Sigma etc. Hope this is in the correct place, thanks!
