  1. hi, has anyone compared the resolution of the GH4 4K->1080 and the BMPCC? I hear the GH4 4Kto1080 is very sharp, some say 'too sharp' when I compare my BMPCC with my GH3, any lens I put on, the BMPCC is a lot sharper. so is the GH4 4Kto1080 comparable with the BMPCC? (and if so, why would the GH4 not be filmic anymore, when the BMPCC can be very filmic :-)? paul
  2. hi, next question (thanks for the replies on the first question:-) can someone check what the DR is of the GH4 when you record externally 1080p 10bit 4.2.2 ? paul ps: i use a GH3 and a BMPCC: the last one for low light and DR (if needed)
  3. can anyone comment on the focus peaking on the GH4? does it work during recording? better then the BMPC? working in high light? paul
  4. thanks Juan! why avchd on gh3 and mov on gh4? would it be different with mov on gh3?
  5. hi has anybody used the GH3 or BMPC on a 80-400 nikon lens? I tested it with a speedbooster (for better light) and the picture is sharp enough for HD but the tripod mount on the 80-400 is useless: it's far to elastic, so vibrates if you touch camera or lens i'm looking for a setup with 15mm bars, and support for camera and other end of the lens, to make is stable. (same for my setup: BMPC + SB + 80-400) any advise? thanks paul
  6. are there hdmi recorders for 1080 10 bit 422 for 50p ? seems only 25p or 50i
  7. Andrew, can you confirm that your testing on the pre-production GH4 showed: - 2 stops better low light compared to GH3 - better DR than GH3 (some people say 12 stops?) paul
  8. i have a BMPCC, but it only runs 25p, and i like slow motion in underwater filming... i have a GH3 for underwater, 50p, but 8 bit 4.2.0 was hoping on 10 4.2.2.. to get all possible light/colours under water recording externally for under water filming, needs complete different housing, battery system etc etc I want better low light and DR than GH3 ... as soon as someone has some test results, let us now :-)
  9. so.. low light: we don't know 4.2.2 10 bit in HD.. not internally focus peaking ok better DR in HD.. we don't know 100fps 4.2.0 8 bit ok (96fps) so ... for the moment no buy :-(
  10. i hope it has: - all of the GH3 but: - better low light in HD compared to GH3 - 4.2.2 10 bit option in HD - focus peaking - a bit better dynamic range in HD and if possible.. 100fps even if it is 4.2.0 8 bit in HD I have no special requests for 4k..
  11. well... if it would give out 1080P50 at 10 bit 422, internally, I'll take one
  12. we dive closed circuit rebreathers, so 5 hours is no problem at all not that we stay 5 hours all the time, but 2-3 hours is very normal
  13. dive times vary, but when the action is there, it can be multiple hours easely
  14. I'm afraid raw is not an option at all for underwater filming... you need say at least an hour capacity
  15. I don't think the 18 mm sigma is very wide I use the .71 on the GH3 so the 10mm becomes a 14mm in full frame (10x0.71x2 crop) on the BMP it becomes +/- 21mm in full frame with the pocket speedbooster, on the BMP, the 18 sigma becomes a 18x0.58x3 or 31mm in full frame
  16. for wide I have a nikon 10-24mm on the gh3, with speedbooster 0.71, at 10 the corners are soft, closing 2 stops make them ok at 12mm you need 1 stop from 15 till 24 the corners are ok wide open on the BMPCC the complete range 10-24mm is sharp wide open
  17. hi, my bmpcc just arrived this morning loaded the latest soft 1.5.1 I notice I can check the remaining time on the card: if you go to playback mode, the time indicated moves forth and back when you move trough the clips: so the time indication at the start of each clip is the total time of all previously recorded clips so when scrolling to the last clip, the total recorded time on the card is indicated time plus the length of the last clip seems to work for me
  18. thanks! anyone knows about the BMCC?
  19. hi there, can anyone tell me if the focus peaking can be activated while the camera is filming? and the double click for the 1:1 zoom? same for the BMPCC thanks a lot paul
